They removed my review because they think they can get away with poor service and possibly discrimination. Now, Im going to add that our service was so bad, we had to wait a while for the check for a substantial period of time while they tended to white patrons and i had to go to the counter to pay my check while they happily gave checks to 2 groups who came after us. This is AFTER I asked for the check from the bald waitor with the tripadvisor logo on his right sleeve (which should have been my first red flag) who by the way, took our food and didnt bother to ask if we needed boxes to go. The staff were much friendlier initially, but i had a feeling they started focusing on other patrons due to either them looking more rich or they had a different color of skin as we were the only dark skinned people there.
Since they removed my review with the excuse to google that my visit does not exist, I've now added photos of our food while eating there as proof. Please see below for my original review. Im very disappointed theyd rather cover this up rather than attempt to address such problematic behaviors with staff with some very simple retraining. I bet that is the sole reason why they have 4.8 stars on google. Shame on them.
"Fair enough, but dated, looking place inside the hotel, food was mostly average, service was very poor if you look even a little bit brown with servers notably ignoring you once white patrons come in. Don't come here unless you look like us and want to be ignored during a special night. To add, they say some stuff like meat appetizers are on the house, but they charge you for it anyway. It's kind of...
Read moreThe service was great, super friendly and welcoming stuff, and the food experience was sensational, with a well selected menu of dishes that balanced originality and variety. The captain went out of his way to make sure my entire family, including my kids, enjoy their dinner experience to the fullest. He spoke multiple languages fluently including French, English, Arabic, Portuguese, and of course Spanish, which was convenient for me to practice my international lingual skills. The wine selection was excellent and well priced, and the deserts were fantastic as well. I highly recommend this restaurant, which is inside the hotel Mayorazgo, and will definitely come back again. Just be aware that you need to make reservations to get a table as walk-ins have a high chance of being declined (politely); this is to ensure service quality and a great atmosphere that doesn't feel loud or overcrowded. Just to summarize and visit a few points I left out. The food was Spanish (not tapas), with revisited classic dishes and some traditional stuff, and both seafood and red meat dishes were out of this world. The service was some of the best I had on this trip, and made this the best dining experience overall for my family. And the location was strategically located, just a block or two away from Gran Vía. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great...
Read moreI would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but I'm gonna go with 5. Here's why: The staff was absolutely perfect. The most courteous service I have ever experienced. I would give the staff 7 stars if I could. Extremely attentive and elegant. Very pleasant setting, very clean. The food is very reasonably priced for a fine dining locale located in the middle of Madrid Large portions of skillfully cooked, interesting foood However: Be careful when ordering the Madrid-style platter. It may not be for all tastes. I personally liked it, but some might find it too... exotic. It includes various pieces of meat from various animals. This is a traditional dish, but it might not be for all tastes. Moreover, a lot of the pieces were fairly fat with very little meat. I recommend going with something safer, like a steak. One thing I found mildly unpleasant was the fact that the entres, although tasty, were not on the house, but were included in the check. I also note this wasn't mentioned from the beginning. This kept me on the fence between 4 and 5 stars, but in the end I went with 5 for the overall experience. Tips: go with food you know, and enjoy this fine...
