😊: The hotel is in an old building which was renovated by the grandparents of the present owner. It is charming. We were perfectly comfortable and feel we got real value for money, considering the location and the time of year. The hotel is situated just outside the old walls of the city, near the Porto do Camino (if I've spelled that right) the gate through which pilgrims have entered the city for many centuries. So the city is, as it were, on your doorstep. There are cafes nearby, convenient for breakfast or a nightcap. From the front door, you can see the roofs of the market, which is on the city wall and can be reached by walking along the road and up a set of stone steps. We went to buy fruit and found it well worth a visit.. 😢: It was lovely but it would have been more convenient if there had been a bedside light on both sides...
Read moreI stayed at Giadás for two nights after finishing parts of the Camino Frances. I wanted accommodation at a fairly low price near/in the central parts/old town of Santiago de Compostela. This place was perfect! Just outside, the Camino de Santiago passes and less than ten minutes away you find the cathedral, the pilgrim office and all of the lovely small restaurants and bars that Santiago offers.||The room was small, nice and clean. When arriving with backpack, after sleeping on albergues, that's the perfect level of luxuary.||The staff/owners (a family living on the top floor?) really gave me great service, for instance when I needed a taxi for an early morning flight.
