Went for a terrace room which was a very good investment. Loads of light and windows. Was on the 6th floor on the front corner of the property so was a slight wrap around balcony which was lovely. We turned up very late due to flight delays, however the night receptionist was brilliant and friendly an though he spoke a little quickly at least he did us the kindness of speaking really good English (as I didn't even have the time to brush up on the basics of Spanish to my shame).

The room was spacious and very clean. Only scoring it as a 4 star as I can't do a 4 and a half. The downsides were that the drainage was very poor with the bath pooling heavily as you shower which I really don't like for health reasons, I actually lifted the plug unit out for the first couple of days but then slipped in the bath and broke it with my foot getting out of the bath (my apologies to the hotel) The door to the corridor had an unusually large gap under it so it let in a lot of noise when people or cleaners came and went and light during the night-time. The terrace though private and bricked off to the adjoining balcony was not separated from our bathroom section meaning if someone came out of their balcony they could get straight into our bathroom so while I would have liked to have left more balcony doors open and enjoy the weather there was a security aspect to bare in mind. And more for our friends in a room 2 doors down said that their air con wasn't working so they were very very warm.

But despite these concerns. A very very good strong 4 and when I return to Valencia like I plan for a weekend with the Mrs I will almost definitely be heading straight back to this hotel and likely the same room.

Thank you for a very...

Me and my husband recently went to Valencia for a 3 night city break and stayed at the Catalonia Excelsior. ||When we first arrived we were checked in quickly and allocated a room on the first floor. Our room was spacious with a large bathroom and walk in shower. From the pictures online a lot of the rooms appear modern and recently refurbished but we had one of the older rooms, it was still nice and cleaned to a good standard and that’s what counts.||We stayed on a B&B basis, the breakfast was super tasty with a large selection to choose from including cooked, continental and gluten free options. The coffee was lovely and the fresh orange machine was an extra little treat, it is hidden out of sight though so make sure you find it.||The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk from all the main attractions in the Old Town - some of these included the market, the Cathedral, Roman Ruins and Town Hall.||One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was because of the plunge pool on the roof, unfortunately this is only open to guests staying in the suites and we only found out once when we arrived. We booked through hotels.com who really don’t make this clear on the website so we can’t really blame the hotel but that was a real let down. ||On the whole we had a nice stay at the Catalonia Excelsior and I would recommend to friends and family but I’d be sure to emphasise checking what’s included with the room...

After seeing my room, I immediately called downstairs to be upgraded to a very nice room in comparison. My room included a terrace and it was obvious that this must have been one of the rooms they used in the photographs. The shower was an adventure for my entire 9 day stay as it ran from scorching hot to ice cold each time I used the shower. In addition the shower door was often broken although housekeeping would fix it every other day. The hotel is very dog friendly but for me that translated to sleepless nights as one of the guests would leave their dog barking to every noise they heard from people getting off the elevator to other noises only a dog would hear. Therefore, the basic needs of a sleep and a hot shower are not being met by your hotel. For these reasons it is unlikely that I would recommend this hotel or stay here again. There are so many other choices in the area that if comparable in price, will get my business. My traveling companion felt the same way about the hotel. When your bathroom door bangs up against a column in the middle of the bathroom, well that is not a good experience. Pictures are great but what you get is...

Perfect location. Perfect room. Perfect hotel! 🤩 This hotel was in the best location for us, within walking distance of most places - and if it not a short metro or uber ride away! The staff went above and beyond, letting us check in on arrival before 10am without any extra charge! They couldn’t be more helpful. It was a perfect stay - and make sure to request a corner room if possible, the view is worth it! ✨ 📍Hotel Catalonia Excelsior, València #valencia #spain #travel #traveltiktok #trending ✨

I stayed at Catalonia Excelsior Valencia for a solo long weekend, and it truly exceeded all expectations. From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel so welcome. The reception and bar staff were outstanding—friendly, genuine, and full of local knowledge that completely shaped my experience in the best way. A special thank you to Luca at reception, who went above and beyond every single day. He gave me tailored recommendations that felt personal and authentic—hidden gems you’d never come across online. His annotated city map became my most treasured guide throughout the trip and made discovering Valencia even more enjoyable. The location is perfect—right in the city centre, within walking distance of everything, but still peaceful and comfortable. As someone who has travelled solo quite a lot, I really appreciated the balance of comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality this hotel offers. It was one of those rare trips where everything just worked out beautifully, and a lot of that had to do with where I stayed. Would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone—solo travellers included. Thank you for a wonderful stay

I arrived at 3 a.m. after having been to a few and not succeeding in finding a room, getting desperate I ended up tanking the first thing that I was offered. I didn't want to spend much money as it was late and I just wanted a place til morning, but the elation of finding a room after several attempts was such that the €120 didn't put me off, I had to get a place anyway, but cheaper Airbnb for 5 nights, so I thought I would splash the cash and at least lay in and wake whenever, do some shopping as it's right in the centre, but once I paid and was getting the card he explained the WiFi and that and casualty added that I had to change room in the morning!!?!! 🤯 By the time I got relaxed It was nearly 5.... missed my alarm I set to wake up on purpose just to change rooms!!! But was soooo tired I didn't even hear it, at 11:30 ISH the phone rang telling me that I had to leave so the cleaner could get the room ready although then there wasn't a room for me ready so I was left in my original room until 2ish. Some really good staff there though, shame that they work in a dive.
