Green Turf Guest House — Hotel in Galle

We made a last minute reservation at the Green Turf and were warmly accommodated by Nandimal and his family. The guest house far exceeded our expectations in every way - it was impeccably clean, the bed comfortable, the room well appointed and the house peacefully but conveniently located. We also got our laundry done while we were there and the service was excellent. Nandimal made us fresh pineapple juices upon request on the first day which were delicious, and the breakfast provided in the morning was unbeatable. I especially loved the black ginger tea and red rice sweets (halape) which were very unique, I wouldn’t have discovered them without Nandimal. This is an awesome place to stay in Galle.||||I stayed for a week and enjoyed every day there. Breakfast downstairs with squirrels, various lizards and birds. Really a special experience. Also in the mornings a group of monkeys usually pass by overhead in the trees.||||Outside the house we spotted a couple of monitor lizards - really exciting!||||The family run place is nice and the hosts are super friendly. I had every meal in the house as well. We enjoyed our stay here. The location is about a 15-20minute walk to the fort area, in a quiet part of town, so no traffic interfering with a good nights sleep. The hotel is cheap but very clean and the hosts are extremely helpful, friendly and give lots of sound travel advice for onward locations. Our breakfast was decent with lots of food to set you up for the day. They had plenty of hot water and air con and the room was spacious if basically furnished.
