Awful value for money. The walls in the room hadn't been finished properly, no plaster or anything on them in the bathroom, just bare concrete and holes and bits of piping and grates that should have been covered or sealed, looked like a prison cell! The toilet roll holder was falling off the wall. Streaks down the walls in the bedroom too. The room was tiny, you could barely walk around the double bed it was so small. It was also incredibly noisy and very hot (it did have air conditioning that worked thanks god, but when we arrived it was sweltering hot). The street outside was very busy and noisy so you wouldn't want the window open. I did not have a good night's sleep. On arrival, we couldn't find the entrance to the hotel for ages, turns out you have to go into a bar to get into the hotel, the signage is practically non-existant. Checking in late at night was not a pleasant experience, the bar was full of people drinking including a group of Russians who stared at us when we came in and while we checked in (had to stand awkwardly at the bar with all our luggage). The tap water from the sink in the bathroom tasted horrific (unusual for Switzerland). The lighting in the room was also awful - bright white fluorescent type lighting. No reading light or bedside light. We checked out early in the morning and we weren't given clear instructions that the ground floor entrance was locked with a shutter, luckily my friend managed to find a way out through a back door where all the empty kegs were kept. The only thing we were told was to just leave the key on the bar. Not exactly a proper hotel reception is it! Didn't feel safe at all for two solo single females, with all the noise outside our room and the weird vibes in the bar I felt worried, if we hadn't found the way out in the morning I would have been freaking out and calling the police. Almost had human trafficking vibes or something if I'm honest. All in all just such a terrible waste of money, I thought we were going to stay in some kind of luxury hotel based on what my friend told me when booking and the photos on booking.com, but in reality it was one of the worst places I've ever stayed and not a proper Swiss hospitality experience in the slightest....
Read moreThey are bloody cheaters, they store the credit card details and then use it as per their wish and charge even without the stay. No complains or justification are heard by them, as there is no higher authority to listen to the complains. The manager is completely irresponsible, mostly he is not there at the hotel, he is just for name sake. Have stayed there for 2 trips, was no problem till then, but they charged on my other card used for the 1st time on their own even after I had paid the entire amount while I checked out, now nobody is answering from there side. They have a ok ok hotel and though the rates are very high compared to the best hotel near them. I stayed there as it had a good view, but no good staff, no good Breakfast or food, no good maintenance and no good decor. Be very careful and please don't give your credit card details online. They also change their policy as per their convenience, sometimes they say cancellation is before 2 days of arrival and then all of a sudden they say full charges and no cancellation. They are very unreliable and they have kids working there, with no experience. When I call from my country the charges are very high and though they don't reply well and if we email they respond after days, nobody followups with the email. Have traveled the world, but never got such a bad experience ever, that too with a hotel in Switzerland. Unfortunately there is nobody to help from my country and nor is there anybody to whom I can complain there. Swiss tourism should cancel their license. Overall be very careful if you stay there with your credit card, else suffer like me till end and feel sorry for yourself as it is the only...
Read moreStayed here one night in January prior to flying out of Zurich the next day. My 6th overnight in Zurich where I catch a flight the next morning. I have stayed in the hotels closer to airport but prefer to be in the old town to experience the city, dinner, etc. Zurich is expensive, this hotel is one of the more reasonable options both near the train station along with the old town. Room was fine size wise, clean, tv worked, and had nice view of the river. greeted at check in and purchased the breakfast for the following morning. (Don’t think I’d purchase breakfast again. Quite limited and not really worthwhile). Hotel was quiet but..lit wasn’t high season and the restaurant in hotel was closed during our winter visit. Our flight was delayed the next morning. Tip- since we booked directly through the hotels website they gave us free late/extended check out which we used and greatly appreciated. Not a free option when booking elsewhere. We planned to take the easy 5 minute walk to the train station (which is then a 10 minute trip into the airport) to the airport but there is a tram station basically at the entrance to the hotel. The #10 tram was pulling in which takes you directly to the airport in 30 minutes and since not in a hurry, used the Swiss Mobil SBB app and bought tix and hopped onto tram. Super convenient. Would...
