A Pleasant Stay with Outstanding Staff, but Room for Improvement
My recent stay at this hotel had its highlights, but there were areas where the experience fell short of expectations. While I wouldn’t necessarily return, I want to acknowledge the aspects that made my visit enjoyable.
What Went Very Well
Without a doubt, the best part of my stay was the incredible staff. From check-in to departure, their warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail truly elevated the experience. A special mention goes to Media, whose hospitality at check-in set a wonderful tone for my visit. Her welcoming demeanor and efficiency made a lasting impression. Additionally, the restaurant manager on Sunday, February 9th, provided exceptional service during breakfast, ensuring everything was just right.
The location is another major advantage. Being close to Taksim and the metro station made exploring the city incredibly convenient. Despite its central setting, the hotel maintains a resort-like atmosphere, offering a peaceful retreat from the city’s energy.
Where Improvements Are Needed
While the service and location were excellent, the hotel itself feels dated. Given its luxury status, I expected a more modern and refined experience, but the last renovation in 2004 is evident. The interiors, furnishings, and overall ambiance would greatly benefit from an update to meet contemporary luxury standards.
The in-room experience was another area in need of improvement. Unlike other hotels in this category, there was no coffee machine—only instant coffee—which felt out of place for a luxury property. The minibar and drink station also lacked a premium touch, missing the refined details that enhance a guest’s stay.
Similarly, the toiletries and amenities did not meet expectations. Luxury hotels often partner with high-end brands for their bath products, but here, the selection felt quite basic. For example, InterContinental offers Diptyque, and Conrad has its own line, setting a higher benchmark for quality.
Lastly, the lounge/bar on the M floor has great potential with its lovely fountain and outdoor views, but it wasn’t a welcoming space for guests. On my first day, it was fully occupied for a private event. On my second day, it was turned into a buffet restaurant for Sunday brunch—even though Restaurant 34 remained empty and would have been a more suitable location. As a result, there was no real lounge space for guests to unwind with a casual drink, which was disappointing. The other bar was also closed.
Final Thoughts
The exceptional staff and prime location made my stay enjoyable, and I want to commend the entire team—especially Media—for their outstanding hospitality. However, outdated facilities and a lack of luxury touches prevented this from being the five-star experience I had hoped for. With some thoughtful renovations and enhancements, this...
Read moreThis 1st time trip to istanbul Turkey from United States of America became a nightmare and one of the most negative memories of our life staying at Grand Hyatt Istanbul Hotel in Turkey. After 16 hours, we finally arrived at the grand hyatt istanbul got checked in by a young man at the front desk. we had a reservation for a double king-size room for 7 nights, but he gave us a single king-size room and insisted in Turkey Double. It doesn't mean 2 beds, even all over the world, double means two of the kind but not in Turkey? The hotel was very busy for the upcoming 100 years of independence day, and I feel like they downgraded our reservation to accommodate the celebration. Not only he didn't even help to solve the problem, but he forced us to book a second room, so as a visitor and a tourist, that was a huge inspected experience it seems like this is their Turkish trick to take advantage of tired exhausted tourists at the time of arrival. We end up getting the 2nd room very costly for 7 nights. The next day, I stood up front to speak to a manager or supervisor. They all acted stupid, mostly the guys trying to say they are a supervisor. After almost 2 hours, I was told to leave and come back later, 3 hours later, I came back, and a gentleman and a lady who said one was a manager and the other a supervisor looked in to my reservation and still insisted double in Turkey doesn't me two bed. And offered me a one day free breakfast. And asked me to no report or write a bad review. I have never been in my whole life feeling disrespected and dishonored by anyone as much as I was by these people running the Grand hyatt istanbul hotel. They didn't even go far to at least give me a better deal on the room for 7 nights they wanted the whole money, and the whole scame to go through almost like they lived off of scamming tourists for an extra commission. What a horrible experience. I don't recommend Grand hyatt istanbul to anyone. I recommend all businessmen's , family and tourists to stay away from this hotel. Everyone in this hotel is trained to rip you off in some kind of matter. No matter what, you will be scam and ripped off of your hard-working money in this hotel. There is much better customer service and 5 star hotels in istanbul. dont stay at Grand hyatt istanbul. I will talk about this experience to everyone to the rest of my life to business man's from Israel, the United States, and friends and family they may scam me from money, but they are costing the owner of the hotel grate deals of respect and Reputation . The General manager just responded and still being a dick no respect for customers they cheated and forced me to get extra room but it seems like its normal to lie and cheat in istanbul grand hyatt when a manager still think they were right. Be advised...

I had high expectations for my stay at the Grand Hyatt Istanbul, but unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had hoped for. Prior to my arrival, I emailed the hotel to inform them of my dust allergy, and they assured me they would do their best to accommodate a thorough clean and an upgrade. However, when I arrived, the staff, specifically Emir and Mustafa, initially claimed there were no available upgrades. Yet, moments later, another staff member informed me that an upgrade was indeed available—but it would require an additional payment. They lied to me , andi would recommend that staff get full training on how to speak to customers who are paying there wages .
This was highly unprofessional and disappointing. Managment incompetent and insecure. More intrested in hiding around the back and not addressing the issue.
The room I was given was far from satisfactory. It was not cleaned properly, with dust still visible everywhere, despite my allergy request. The room itself was small, outdated, and reeked of foul odors. The furniture was damaged, adding to the sense of neglect. I immediately raised my concerns with the management, and they offered an upgrade to a king room , despite booking a twin room just to be awkward, it was already 9:00 PM, and I had an early morning flight the next day, so I didn't want to waste more time arguing. One of my guests had to sleep on a rollaway bed because of there incompetence.
When I moved to the new room, which was supposedly cleaned, I was horrified to find insects crawling around and hair in the shower tray. The kettle was also dirty, which further added to my frustration.
To top it off, I had a dine package included in my stay, but the menu was extremely limited, with poor food options. For the price, there are far better restaurants in Istanbul that offer much more value. Breakfast was equally disappointing, with a limited selection, and my eggs Benedict never arrived, despite ordering it. I would not say this breakfast is suitable for anybody who thinks they are going to have a luxury experience. Better breakfasts at the holiday inn.
As a loyal member of other hotel chains, I’ve never had such a poor experience, and I will not be returning to the Grand Hyatt Istanbul. I would highly recommend the Intercontinental Istanbul across the street instead, where you can expect far better service, cleanliness, and overall value...
