This hotel really lives up to it's high ratings on all the booking sites for it's customer service. We arrived early and our room was ready along with a welcome letter and a fruit tray. We were personally greeted and accommodated throughout our stay. The air conditioner in our room wasn't working, but the staff on duty did their absolute best to get us an upgraded room when they were fully booked. When my husband was sick, they offered us free drinks and additional accommodations to make our stay more comfortable. The breakfast offering is not vast, but it is very delicious and filling. The terrace where breakfast is served offers stunning views of the sea. The location is about 7-10 minutes walk from Sultanahmet Square, the tram service and the Havaist bus stop to the airport. It is just behind the Arasta Bazaar leading up to Sultanahmet Square, but is in a quiet enough area that there are no noise disturbances or crowds. The hotel itself is small, homey and decorated in an old fashioned Turkish style. It's perfect for an authentic feel of the local area as opposed to larger chain hotels. The photos posted below show the beautiful views from the terrace I...
Read moreThis is an excellent, small, family-style boutique hotel within a 4 minute-walk of the Blue Mosque. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. What impressed me the most was the staff communication before arrival. Front desk staff member, Nima answered all of my questions via email, helped with transport and site visits, and even organised a tour guide (who was very knowledgeable about Turkish history) to show us the key historical sites for two days. The breakfast was delicious, the staff were extremely attentive even cooking us omelettes to our personal tastes, and the view across the ocean while dining was amazing. Our bedroom, while not large, was spacious enough for two people, very clean and cosy with a home-style feel. There is a lift to all three residential levels. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room was suitably heated for winter in Turkey. I am a little biased as I like small friendly hotels with a sense of history, and in this respect, the Dersaadet was a perfect place to stay. In fact, we will stay here...
Read moreFrom beginning to end they offered an exceptional experience.
When we arrived they offered us a traditional tea with Turkish delight seated in their very comfortable lobby while they registered us.
The room had everything we needed but be aware it is small though not surprising given the age of the building.
Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was an excellent sampling of local fare which was exactly what we wanted and the rooftop patio where it was served was spectacular.
On our very last day I took a quick shower and didn’t get any hot water (first and only time this happened). I didn’t care enough to call down to ask since we wanted to get out touring ASAP but as we were leaving the staff apologized without being prompted.
Would highly recommend this place based on the high quality of service!
A word of caution to fellow ignorant travelers. As an old building with mosques nearby we were woken up the first morning by the call to prayer. Ear plugs are a requirement unless you are a sound sleeper and...
