A very authentic Turkish-style lunch — our second meal in Istanbul — can be considered quite yummy, partly because we were also really hungry. The meal started with plain pita and soup. Dipping the pita into the soup was delicious and really whetted my appetite. This was followed by a salad that included purple cabbage, white cabbage, and carrots. Mixed with the dressing, it was quite flavourful.

Both were very low on flavour, and tasted stale and flat. The portion was very small and generally not very tasty. Th service was quite slow but generally standard. The only saving grace was the orange juice which was delicious. We also ordered soup and chips, which were also mediocre. All up this cost about 80 lira. We had the breakfast set, which came with a basket of bread, a plate of tomatoes, boiled eggs, cucumbers, butter, cheese, olives, and tea. Since we're used to having rice, it felt like something was missing, hehe. But then they brought out this sticky rice with a salty kick!
