I saw this hotel on ebookers when I was planning a trip for me & my wife, the pictures looked amazing and the reviews were average.|On arrival I was extremely disappointed, upon booking I booked a double luxury room and paid €3 extra per night and mentioned that me and my wife will be staying but my wife will arrive later from another country. This hotel is situated in downtown Istanbul and build on 4 floors with no lift, the hotel is old and you can tell that no money has been spent on the wear and tear for a long time. On arrival my room weren’t ready but the receptionist a short guy whom spoke 3 languages was very pleasant and offered me another room on the second floor. There were two flight of stairs with metal railing on one side which I had to climb by holding on to the railing as there are sharp turnings on the stairs, Not reached the second floor I cut the palm of my hand on the sharp welded metal railing with blood pouring from my hand I arrived on 2nd floor. Opening the rooms door I was well disappointed, it looked nothing like the hotel advertised photos. The room was cold and over looked run down buildings which were being used as storage. I checked if the heating works but the radiator was switched off and no remote control for the air conditioning system. There was no tea or coffee facilities in the room and about 2 inches of dust on the tv installed on the wall. Turned on the lights and only one bulb out of three was working. The towel provided had a hole in a middle. The bathroom was reasonably clean with good shower.|When asked about the heating I was told that it only comes on at 5pm and they can’t provide me with the aircon remote control. I asked for the Wi-fi password and it worked perfectly downstairs but no signal in the room. I asked the owner if I should get signal in the room and he told me that the signal is perfect all over the hotel. I could not get any signal in the room and when I asked again he told me the problem is with my phone. The breakfast is served between 8:00-10:30 and it’s based on first come first serve as they won’t top up any of the dishes available. The breakfast is the same everyday and could be lot better. Upon arrival of my wife they asked me for extra €5 per night as I booked the room in my name and not in joint names. This was an total liberty as the booking was for a double luxury room. I have stayed in Istanbul several times and in lot better hotels for lot lower prices, I can only tell you about my experience but do your research before booking...

This hotel was a huge letdown. It was small, crowded, and the front desk staff were dishonest. They kept insisting our booking wasn’t with them, even though we had clear vouchers from our tour operator. Even after the tour company re-sent the vouchers, the staff kept denying receiving them – although we had proof.
The rooms were tiny, dark, very basic, and uncomfortable. It felt nothing like what was shown online.
The breakfast was terrible – cold food, just a bit of bread, no pastries, no hot options, and poor tea and coffee. Definitely not what they advertise.
Another issue: the prayer tower is right outside the window, and it’s very loud around 4:50 AM – not ideal if you’re a light sleeper.
Worst of all, the emergency exit was left open, and smoking was allowed inside, which made us feel unsafe. Anyone could walk in from the back stairs, and there was no visible security.
I do not recommend this hotel – it’s not what it claims to be and was one of the worst parts...
Read moreOutstanding hospitality! We really liked our stay in Istanbul Central Hotel over New Year 2020. The owner Gokay was the friendliest & most helpful person we met during our 10-day stay in Istanbul. He went above and beyond to help us with places to eat, ferry times, tours & always greeted us with a smile. For that, I would come back & stay here again & again.
The hotel itself is kept very clean & during pandemic sanitizer & signs are spread out all over the hotel. The beds & pillows are very comfortable we slept like babies every night. The shower has great pressure, there is a small fridge in the room & some panoramic views from our room. There is also a terrace in the breakfast room with views of the Bosphorus bridge.
It is a small hotel so it is important for travellers to give money directly into the local economy rather than stay at the huge wealthy hotel chains. The price of the rooms was really affordable for everything that...
