I recently had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Maya, and I would like to share my experience. The hotel is ideally located for exploring the European side of Istanbul, particularly the historic monuments around Sultanahmet. This strategic location made it easy to immerse myself in the rich culture and history of the area. The staff at Hotel Maya were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. One of the standout features of the hotel is its 24-hour reception, which allowed me to check in at any hour after arriving from the airport. This flexibility was greatly appreciated after a long journey. However, while the hotel has many positives, there were some aspects that could use improvement. The room and furnishings felt a bit dated and worn. Upon my arrival, I noticed that the cleanliness of the room was not up to standard. The bathroom floor had some stains, and there was chocolate on the floor, likely left by previous guests. The cleaning staff posed a significant issue during my stay. Although breakfast was served from 7 to 10 AM, the cleaning began quite noisily at around 8 AM, which disrupted sleep for those who wished to rest longer. Moreover, there were several occasions when the cleaning staff did not clean the room at all. On a couple of instances, when the sheets were changed, the bed was not fully made, and I had to finish it myself. There were times when the bath mat was not provided, and I was left without toilet paper. On one occasion, I received an opened bottle of shampoo, which was likely used by a previous guest.Over the nine nights I spent at the hotel, the glass in my room was never washed or replaced, raising concerns about hygiene. Overall, the cleaning service fell short of the standards one would expect from a three-star hotel. On a more positive note, the breakfast offered a good variety and was plentiful. However, as someone who is lactose intolerant, I found the options somewhat limited due to the heavy presence of cheeses and dairy products. In summary, despite the cleaning issues, I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Maya. The friendly staff, great location, and decent breakfast made my experience enjoyable. I would consider returning and would recommend the hotel to others, with the caveat that they may want to address the...
Read moreI stayed at Maya Hotel for 5 nights in total. I liked everything about Maya Hotel. The location was ideal for me; easy walking distance to all my favourite locations: Grand Bazar, Aksaray, Kumpkapi, Fatih Mosque, Sultanahmet; all are within easy walking distance. I even walked to Eminonu (via Grand Bazar). Having said this, both Metro and Tram stations are less than 5 minutes walk. Staff was great, absolutely wonderful in fact. Everyone I approached responded extremely nicely. Rooms are nice and clean. Housekeeping ladies were always there to help. As you might know, Turks love to smoke so some rooms may smell of smoke; it's better to ask Hotel beforehand. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. I never had a better Breakfast in any 3 Star hotel before. Reception staff were extremely helpful. I give you an example; I am travelling in Turkey and had a spare large suitcase. I asked if it can be kept at the hotel for 10 days, they happily accepted. This was a massive favour to me as otherwise I had to carry it unnecessary wherever I was travelling. A BIG thank you to all staff. Finally, you can not go wrong with Maya Hotel with their prices at all. I did read some negative comments and all I can say is if you are after extreme luxury, there are 4 and 5 Star hotels around. I am staying again at Maya Hotel whenever I am travelling...
