DISCRIMINATED ON OUR HONEYMOON
My wife and I were eagerly anticipating our honeymoon stay at the Park Hyatt Dubai, but our experience was marred by a series of discriminatory and subpar incidents that left us deeply offended and disappointed.
Poolside Discrimination
Upon our arrival, we decided to relax by the pool, which was notably under-occupied. We requested front-row sunbeds but were informed by a tall attendant that these were reserved, despite the hotel’s first-come, first-served policy. Shortly thereafter, two women in bikinis arrived and were immediately directed to the front-row beds without hesitation. When I reiterated our request, the attendant stated that these prime spots were for non-hotel guests. This was particularly insulting, considering we were paying £400 per night for our honeymoon, yet outsiders were given preferential treatment. The situation worsened as more scantily clad women were granted front-row access, reinforcing a pattern of discriminatory behavior.
I raised my concerns with Miguel, who acknowledged the issue and mentioned it wasn’t the first time such complaints had been made. This admission only highlighted the hotel’s ongoing disregard for guest equality. The offending attendant continued his inappropriate behavior, focusing more on flirting than providing equitable service. As a conciliatory gesture, we were offered flowers, which felt inadequate given the severity of the discrimination we faced.
In-Room Issues
Returning to our room, we discovered the coffee machine had leaked, damaging my AirPods. Octavian, the guest relations manager, was courteous and offered us a complimentary ride to our dinner reservation, promising to make amends by the time we returned. However, upon our return, we found only a platter of fruit and a bottle of inexpensive Prosecco—hardly fitting compensation for the inconvenience and damage incurred. I contacted Miguel to collect it as we didn’t want flowers, we just wanted a sincere apology and an explanation.
Further Complications
The situation deteriorated further when, later that evening, we attempted to shower only to find the water was cold. An engineer disclosed that multiple guests on our floor had reported similar issues. Additionally, our television malfunctioned, leaving us in a room without hot water and with a broken TV. I informed Miguel, but by this point, our honeymoon experience felt broken and mentally and emotionally exhausted
Departure
Upon checking out, we received no apologies or efforts to ameliorate our experience, leaving us feeling neglected and unvalued.
Conclusion
Our stay at the Park Hyatt Dubai was characterized by discrimination, inadequate facilities, and a lack of genuine customer service. This experience not only ruined our honeymoon but also left us questioning the hotel’s commitment to guest satisfaction and equality.
In light of our experience, I reviewed other guest feedback and found similar concerns: • Review from TripAdvisor: A guest mentioned that the hotel is “confusing” and “too spread out,” with bathroom issues where “the shower temperature kept going from cold to extremely hot on its own.” • Review from View from the Wing: The reviewer noted that the Park Hyatt Dubai “felt like a special property a decade ago” but now “it’s in desperate need of renovation,” though they mentioned that “the staff is still very good.”
These reviews, along with our experience, suggest systemic issues that the management needs to address to meet the standards expected of a five-star establishment.
However, I would like to show our appreciation to Uddin and Arun - amazing service and made us feel...
Read moreHaving only previously stayed here for layovers to Tokyo and a couple of spa treatments, this time we had the opportunity to enjoy a full week’s stay at Park Hyatt Dubai — and even that didn’t feel long enough!
We cannot fault their warm hospitality and found our stay thoroughly enjoyable. As it was my birthday, I had the pleasure of receiving a lovely welcome gift in my room upon arrival.
A special thank you to Bharat and Liezel for their unwavering attention to detail and for meeting every expectation. Although a few minor issues arose, they were resolved quickly and graciously — exactly what we expect from five-star service around the world.
Isaac from the concierge team deserves a special mention for going above and beyond. He was incredibly knowledgeable, proactive, and attentive — ensuring all of our reservations, transfers, and special requests were handled seamlessly. (He was even able to source a cobbler to fix my Prada heels👠) Whether it was securing us last-minute bookings or offering thoughtful local insights, Isaac’s impeccable service made a significant difference in our experience. We really enjoyed our Yacht!
We also want to recognize Godwyn, who was in charge of security. His calm, professional demeanor and ever-present, reassuring presence contributed to a real sense of safety and care throughout the resort. He was always courteous and approachable — exactly the kind of person you want overseeing guest security in a luxury setting. As the property covers 93 acres the golf buggy was really useful for getting from A to B!
While we missed the New York Grill from Tokyo, there were still plenty of incredible dining options. We especially recommend The Thai Kitchen and The Lounge for afternoon tea. Having dined at just 7 of the 14 venues, we’re already looking forward to trying the rest on our next visit!
What truly made our stay delightful was the exceptional staff. Our housekeeper, Imran, prepared our room perfectly each evening, making it feel like a peaceful retreat. The BDP team at the breakfast buffet also stood out — the breakfast was absolutely delicious. A big thank you to Martha, who always remembered our order and offered fantastic recommendations. With such a wide variety on offer, her guidance was much appreciated!
The resort reminded us of my birthday trip to Santorini — the stunning views, serene ambiance, lush greenery, and tranquil waterfront instantly set the tone for a relaxing escape.
I first stayed here 10 years ago, and I was thrilled to find the room just as I remembered: spacious, impeccably clean, with a luxurious bath and amenities, and a stunning balcony view where we enjoyed a bottle of wine each evening.
We honestly didn’t want to leave…
If I could, I would live here. Everything you need is right at your doorstep — from the beautiful pools to the Amara Spa (one of the best in the world), and a gym that many say is the best hotel gym in Dubai. But above all, we found the peace and relaxation we were looking for.

Read moreI dined yesterday at Noepe in the Grand Hyatt, and I must say, my expectations for a restaurant in a five-star hotel were not met.
First, the booking process was frustrating. Reservation team are slow and said they will get back to me on some personalized cake and they took few days only until i followed up, and it seems their system clears old messages, which meant I had to repeat my story multiple times. We booked the Soiree Brunch, which is available on the Entertainer app, but there was confusion about whether it included soft drinks or not. Tho the reservations said it includes “soft package”..
The venue itself is the only beautiful thing, and we were excited to enjoy the ambiance. However, the DJ left shortly after sunset, despite the brunch being advertised until 11 PM. The atmosphere became quite dull, with more people chatter than music.
When my friends and I arrived, we asked the waitress to bring out all the starters and mains, but the service was extremely slow. I had to go to the bar myself to urge them to serve us. The starters were disappointing; the edamame arrived without truffle and salt, making it tasteless. When I inquired about it, the waiter said I should have specified the seasoning—something that was never communicated to us. The crab salad was decent, but the wagyu was served cold.
As for the mains, the sushi tasted stale, and by that point, we were already full with many leftovers. The chicken and fish dishes were barely touched, and when I asked for takeaway, I was told it was against their policy to allow that, insisting they would have to throw the food away. This is unacceptable.
Dessert was another letdown. We received only one fruit platter (which was complimentary for the birthday celebrant) and one chocolate tart (with almost half melted ice cream), despite having ordered three sharing set menus for our group of six. The mochi was missing, and when we inquired, we were told it had been replaced by the fruit platter without any prior notice.
To top it off, when we were about to leave, they finally brought out the three initial tarts and mochi platters, too late. We also asked for a group photo, but all the staff were saying “busy” and avoided helping us, even though it was clear they were not really occupied. When we asked a guest only one decided to show up…
All our friends left feeling disappointed and frustrated. I hope they can improve their service and communication...
