Powells Jewellery — Local services in Great Britain

I have never written a review about any service or establishment before, but I felt compelled to after the way in which I was treated by the staff, in particular one lady. The reason for my visit was to get a valuation on a piece of jewellery I had inherited from my grandmother. Powell’s had been recommended by both Boodle and Dunthorne and my parents, who have been repeated customers of theirs, spending quite a bit of money. The attitude of the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive. My husband and I felt incredibly unwelcome. I have previously been in to ask about the cleaning of jewellery and the same lady was rather unpleasant, however, I gave her the benefit of the doubt as we can all have a bad day at times. My strong impression is that unless you are buying, they do not want to know. Given it’s a family business, I would have expected them to understand the value of customer service; clearly they don’t. The service that we received at Boodles conversely was very polite and incredibly apologetic when they couldn’t provide the service that we had enquired about. Avoid Powell’s like the plague; there are an abundance of jewellery shops in Chester to choose from, who no doubt will be courteous and respectful...

me & my misses have been going powells now & again for last 4 years when we go Chester to see my son who lives there. when we go into the shop they always make us feel welcome as soon as we walk into the door the customer service is excellent & some of the jewelery is absolutely beautiful to the point were we always buy something when we go into shop, the other month I had bought a ring wth a blood stone set into it & the stone fell out as iv tryed to take it off witch was my own fault cause my finger was swollen, when we went bck into shop 4 month later I was willing to pay for the repair but they said because I had bought it from there they will repair it for free as iv bought it there,I dint exspect that, but I was delighted they were doing that for me, a week later it arrived in post but powells rang me to tell me it would arrive before 12 o'clock then the post man knocked on my door at 11:20 that day, if u ever in Chester town center go visit shop as they have some gorgeous antique jewellery even if you don't buy anything it's well worth having a look. 5 stars iv give the shop & I go in a lot of jewellers but powells is...

I first heard about Powell’s through a google search and after a few emails with Joanne who works there, myself and my fiancée paid a visit today. I can honestly say going has made my year! Every member of staff from the owner and his wife to Joanne and Rich were so kind and helpful and the service that we received alongside my ring was unbelievable. To anyone looking for somewhere which will provide the highest standard of care and the most fantastic quality, I would thoroughly recommend visiting Powell’s or Lowe & Sons. We will be coming back for our wedding bands and will be bringing family members in the future to have a look around the stores, it’s that special a place! Adding to this, unfortunately it transpired that I am allergic to white gold. We went today in the hopes of seeing what could be done. I honestly could not of asked for a better standard of service.
