My recent experience at The Church was marred by the shockingly unprofessional behaviour of one particular bouncer. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with blatant rudeness and disrespect.

Despite arriving precisely at 5.45pm, the bouncer insisted that we were 1 hour and 30 minutes late, which was simply not true. This was especially frustrating since we had arranged a booked event via email, clearly indicating our arrival time. As a table of 16, we were informed that booking a booth for 12 people would be sufficient, which we accepted. However, the bouncer angrily informed us that the booth was limited to 12 guests only.

Seeking clarification and a resolution, I requested to speak with the manager. Shockingly, the bouncer went as far as denying entry to my partner, as my partner swore in passing comment to the group, basically stating that it was a ‘joke’. The bouncer thought he was speaking to him and from that denied his entry. Unjustifiable act only added to our frustration and disbelief.

I appreciate that a couple of my friends became involved in the situation out of frustration. However, it is important to note that if the bouncer had not been so incredibly rude from the beginning, this unfortunate escalation would have never occurred.

The overall treatment we received from this bouncer was completely unacceptable. Their demeanor and attitude were not only disrespectful but also tarnished what should have been an enjoyable evening. I urge the management to take appropriate action and ensure that such unprofessional behaviour is not repeated...

Beware if wanting to use a Tastecard - they will only do the deal for tables of 6 or less! If you go in a bigger party you will not be able to use it AT ALL! We had booked a table & said we were aware that Tastecard was only for 6 people ,and as a party of 12 ,thought that we would get the discount off the cheapest 6 meals & then pay full price for the other 6 -- but no ! we were told we couldn't use it AT ALL as there were more than 6 people!!! Surely this is not good business sense as it will discourage larger parties from visiting. We had x3 tastecards, x2 NHS staff & x2 Defense staff --- and couldn't get any discount!! Very disappointing as it was for my birthday & had been before & encouraged others to come! Food was ok - but wouldn't recommend the steaks- I had 'special ' which was a bit fatty & my friend paid twice the price for hers & left a large piece of fat from round the end. All food could have been a bit hotter . Our waitress was ok but staff assisting her with bringing meals and then trying to sort the bill were rather abrupt, & we could see them standing around and looking over at us esp when we had questioned the bill & any discount-- we had initially told them when we arrived that we had a tastecard and had been told 'ok' --- obviously not!! Just popped in for a quick drink and ending up staying all night. The cocktails are amazing and the outdoor space fantastic, great touch with the individual table heaters. This was originally a 4 star review. After visiting Chester last week, my wife and I had this place on our to do list. Girl at entrance took all our details for track n trace which was done very efficiently. Was then taken to a table outside and was told it was table service. The place as usual was jumping and was a crowd of young people (we are in our early 50s but still young at heart) I tried in vain for the next 10mins to attract the attention of a server. An acknowledgement would have sufficed if they were serving other tables. At this point a group of young girls sat at the next table and begin to go through the drinks menu of what to order. Again, I'm still trying to get served. Then a server appeared at the next table and began to laugh n joke with the girls. I made a point of saying we had been here a while and certainly before the group on the table she was now at. Her response was you'll just have to wait I'm serving this table first. Well, we didn't wait, we collected our things and left. Very poor service and was looking forward to...
