These apartments looked awesome on the site, and the location was great for me (from someone who gets lost a lot). I did phone and double-checked that everything was OK for a wheelchair user and if the rooms were spacious enough to store a wheelchair. Needless to say, all the feedback was, "Of course, yes, there is plenty of room, and we are on hand to help,"
I base my review on travelling with a family member who is a wheelchair user.
Needless to say, this was not accurate. On finding the apartments, I struggled so much to get in the door (was given an email 30 mins before arrival on key code). We struggled getting in, but once we got in, I discovered I would struggle with my girls wheelchair. I pushed the chair down the hall to the apartment, but the hall was so tiny width wise that there was no way of passing the chair to get to the door to unlock it. We had to back up out the apartments , leave everything outside, and go back in with my girl without her chair to get in much to the distress of my girl.
The next problem was the door to the room. I will stress I did email and ask for the coded door instructions to be simplified for me as I do have asd and sometimes things like that are difficult for me. This was ignored, and I was sent it the usual standard letter to open the door. Which I couldn't do. Luckily, a neighbour came out to help. She confessed she also had difficulty getting in, and another neighbour showed her how to use the code box key. So, no adjustments were made on my enquiry to assist me when I declared my disabilities. There was no staff in site to ask or anyone to support us.
The room was....to quote my girls' favourite book. Was a squash and a squeeze. Honestly, there wasn't room to swing a cat, let alone store a chair. However, I will take responsibility for that I should have maybe have been more persistent on asking for measurements of the room instead of accepting of the owners word that there was "Plenty of room" the bar stools were far to unsecured and dangerous for a child to sit on with disabilities (which I again I declared these disabilities in an earlier email) . The "fully equipped kitchen" was not fully equipped. There was no oven, only two rings and two pots. There was a microwave and plenty of cutlery and plates. However, without a fully equipped kitchen, I wasn't able to cook some foods I had picked up at the local supermarket on the understanding that it was a fully equipped kitchen.
The apartment itself was clean, and a bottle of free milk was a lovely touch for a much needed cuppa. However, having to eat on the bed, read, or play games on it was not practical. The bed itself was not very comfortable to sleep in at all.
We made the most of it and enjoyed our break away. However, we were absolutely exhausted with no sleep in that bed and scunnered with the lack of room, and we were beginning to feel a bit miserable, so we actually left a day earlier than planned. We will never return to...
Read moreOverall this apartment was abysmal. It is not like advertised at all. We were highly disappointed with our stay and could not wait to leave. The apartment was of a poor quality in terms of cleanliness and decoration. There was questionable marks and stains on most if not all surfaces and items. ||The living area was very dirty and covered in dog hair, I assume from the previous guest. It was evident that the room was not cleaned prior to our arrival; further evidenced by the amount of hairs, dust, wrappers and empty vape oil bottles we found throughout our stay. ||We were given additional bedding and towels as we had a young child with us and this was dirty, ripped, stained and had an extremely stale smell to it. We could not use some of it. In addition, this was not left in the room for us but was left outside of the room door blocking the very narrow corridor making it hard to even get access to the room initially. ||The sofa bed was not comfortable at all and was like lying on two planks of wood with a sheet on it. It was also not a couch but a very thin futon.||The kitchen facilities were also not good enough. There was not enough cutlery or crockery for everyone in the family to eat at the one time. We did not use the stove top or kettle as once again they had questionable marks, stains and dirt inside them. Anything that was used was washed prior. Not to mention a consistent smell of sewage emitting from the kitchen sink throughout our 3 day stay. ||Additionally, the bathroom was in a poor condition with some holes in the wall and shower doors that did not close properly so did not have a water tight seal. We could not put our toiletries on the very small shelf provided as this was not secured to the wall properly. To top off the amazingly long list of hygiene issues this apartment has there was faeces on the toilet seat when we arrived. There was also a broken chip box left under the toilet to collect water from the waste pipe (we were not notified of any issues of any kind prior to our stay).||The building was also in quite a poor condition. Lots of cigarette ends lying on the ground at the main door which was often left unlocked by other residents. The main hallway was in need of a much needed deep clean. The building was also anything but calm and quiet. There was lots of foot traffic which you would expect however there was also lots of screaming, shouting and arguing throughout the duration of our stay from other guests.||The only positive of this holiday was the location was okay in some respects. The surrounding area/ buildings was extremely run down, we did see some discarded needles lying on the street near by HOWEVER it was less than a 5 minute walk away from the beach front...
Read moreDo not stay. We stayed in as part of our honeymoon when we landed it was lovely with a bottle of bubbly in the room and the staff were lovely. The room was clean as well and the breakfast the coffee shop was nice for half price breakfast. When we went in first to the building the smell of damp and mould was awful. It seemed that it had only gotten worse throughout the 5 nights we stayed there. On the last morning the roof started leaking because of the shower above we had to put a basin underneath it which got quarter full. There was mould in the bathroom above the shower. The shower wouldn't drain properly and you had to have the water heater on to use it. We had paid for parking which was £50 (£10 per night) when we first landed we were greeted with a man and he told us where to park, we were not communicated with that we had to park on the one side of the "car park" which was unbelievably tight and a nightmare to get parked in up against the back of the apartments. We then on the second last day had left and then came back and parked behind the gate on the other side of the apartments as someone else had taken our space. On the previous day there was another guest who also parked there overnight and we were never told we couldn't park there so we assumed it would be ok and we didn't want to cause a fuss for the staff as it was late in the evening. We then after we had left Blackpool to Northern Ireland we came home to find a parking ticket the following week, my husband had tried numerous times to call Reads Court to ask if they could help us to dispute this but no answer to the phone lines. We had then made a dispute to the parking company as we had displayed our permit on the window, as we hadn't heard nothing back from the parking company we had gave Reads a call today and the man who had rang us back was very rude and not considerate of the situation. We are now out £60 fine as the correct information was not communicated with me and my husband which is ridiculous especially since we paid £50 to park for our entire stay which i feel like was a waste of money looking back. Really disappointed with how we have been treated after leaving reeds...
