BARWAN — Restaurant in High Peak

We had dinner at Barwan Restaurant in Buxton with a group of 6, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish.

The food was the highlight — hands down the best Thai food we've ever had. The beef dishes, especially the Thai red curry, were full of flavour and incredibly soothing — exactly what we needed after a long trek in the Peak District. Every dish was cooked perfectly and felt authentic.

Surprisingly, even the pulled pork burger was excellent — tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Expensive but worth the price.

Tried to contact restaurant but had no response. I’m vegan so ordered just veg dishes, one of them tasted very strongly of fish, two other people tried it and agreed that it tasted like fish. I asked the waiter to confirm if it contained fish and he said no it’s literally just soy sauce. He didn’t reassure me very much considering how strong the taste was, either is definitely had some trace of fish in or there was something wrong with the veg, not to mentioned that the “veg and just soy sauce” which I only ate a spoonful of cost me £7, which is absolute madness. Great service, amazing food - we loved the unique Thai-American fusion! It was great to order a couple of meals to share. The pulled brisket loaded fries were a favourite, and were a nice side portion. The thai green curry chicken wings were amazing - great flavour and super crunchy! The zinger burger chicken was amazing and the burger huge, glad I was sharing! The food was all fresh and piping hot, mains were huge portions, great value for money.
