The hotel itself is perfectly located for exploring many of London sights and places of interest. We did however have a check in issue, yes we arrived at 2.15pm (check in 3pm) we were told there wasn't a king room ready which is fine considering we were early anyway. Having sat in reception for over 40 minutes we enquired as to what was happening with our room, we were told housekeeping were getting things together. At nearly 4,pm our room was finally ready, nothing spectacular but it is London. We wandered down to reception after freshening up and asked where breakfast would be in the morning, just go through the door opposite the lift. All is good, the following morning we followed the instructions and were led along a maze of passages back of house of the hotel and into what can only be described as something of an after thought or a desperation by the hotel to provide breakfast. This is where it gets interesting, this location is clearly not part of the hotel and is third party. It is a help yourself buffet style breakfast which is absolutely fine........but to what exactly.... Muesli empty, yoghurt on a plate with a skin on god knows how long it has been out, only fruit offering was grapes and some chopped up melon cooked items were no better, fried eggs empty ask when refilled, don't know, same with scrambled egg, sausages so dry they could have been shipped in from the Sahara and the same for the bacon. Basically my partner had 2 slices of toast with honey and I had the same two slices of toast with a couple of spoonfuls of baked beans. Yep that is what we had for £22.50 per head....Because time was tight we didn't raise the issue until later that day and we asked to cancel our breakfast on the Sunday due to the experience and yes this was refunded but absolutely no budging on the fact we had such a poor experience on the Saturday and refused to refund that saying they have limits that can authorise,. This is a good hotel just don't book breakfast or expect to get...
Read moreExcellent location for this hotel that looks rather stylish and which boasts a nice club lounge area with complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water. The rooms are very functional, modern and clean but won’t win any design awards… if you are looking for ornate plush rooms, then probably best to look elsewhere. I had expected the rooms to feature a safe however, but this wasn't the case.
Staff were always friendly, very accommodating and efficient… What however makes this hotel unique and a good value proposition is the fact that you can enjoy the front terrace which faces the Lincoln’s Inn Fields square and allows guests to enjoy this very chilled out area while having one of the aforementioned complimentary drinks - or whatever snack you picked up walking around London - throughout the day. In the evenings you can however enjoy the outdoors ‘pop-up’ bar and have dinner here. And more recently (April 2018) we have discovered the daily wine tasting between 5-6pm... which on a sunny day is rather enjoyable on the terrace.
Food however is what brings me to the only negative experience about the hotel unfortunately. We tried to have breakfast here but the rather limited ‘full’ English option was actually cold… literally none of the ingredients were warm and the cold sloppy scarmbled eggs were terrible. We tried a few bites and left the breakfast for what it was. Since I really was after a buffet breakfast that morning we then randomly headed for the nearby Premier Inn whose breakfast offering is much more varied and freshly cooked… meaning warm!
Would I return to to this hotel? Absolutely! Especially when the weather is mild and dry enough to enjoy the terrace, but I wouldn’t plan on eating...
