AVOID AT ALL COST
Let's put it this way: unfortunately Google doesn't allow zero star. Otherwise I'd have given this place one!
So many things wrong with my stay here:
Unhelpful staff. They are nice and polite, but that is as far as they 'd go. Broken lift. And apparently it happens often. Good luck if you have several heavy luggage and is assigned to the 4th floor. I was 'lucky' being sent into the basement, just one floor down The room doesn't look anything like the pictures! Extra small room (or is it a closet?!). Can't even fully open the bathroom door without sliding the bed away. ...in the basement (is this even legal without prior notice?!) ...right next to the boiler shaft ...which probably makes the room continuously warm ...with faulty AC, set at 17C in spring time, but is not even cool ...with bad lighting (only 1 low wattage bulb for the whole room!) ...with no locks on the window. Not safe for a basement room. When you open it, hot air from the boiler blows in. So forget about getting fresh cool spring air from outside ...with uncomfortable bed (great if you want to feel the bed springs on your back the entire night!) ...and one VERY flat pillow ...and part of the bed is actually UNDER the window ledge, so you kinda have to pull the bed out, which makes the small room even smaller I pre-paid a non-refundable rate when I booked, but the hotel kept on sending me emails asking for my credit card details, which I completely ignored. Two days before my stay they sent me a receipt saying my credit card has been charged.
All guest are required to leave their room keys when they go out. But when we xame back we were never asked for identification. How dangerous this is!
They allow you to leave your luggage after checking out, but the left luggage room is just an unlocked cupboard in the wall. Anybody could rummage through or even walk off with the luggage.
The only good thing is the location which is near Paddington station. Which means you can quickly get away, enjoy the city and forget about that hole they call 'a room'. Then again, many other hotel options to stay in the area.
PS: they offer breakfast at £9/pax. Decline it and go to a restaurant around the corner where you can get delicious full English bfast for only £5.95!
PSS: another good thing too, no, I didn't find bed bugs in my room; I looked.
PSS: I booked this hotel via Agoda. There was no mention on the site that I may be assigned a room in the basement. When informed of this situation, Agoda replied "The location of the rooms given are based on the hotel's availability and judgment. As long as a single room was given to you (regardless of floor), there has been no violation of policy/fraud". Really?! The property clearly misrepresented itself and Agoda allowed it. Quite disappointing! My advise: DO...
Read moreSince I booked this hotel, they sent me 7 unnecessary messages asking me for filling up my personal info, adding my payment info even though my payment was made just fine and giving them feedback. So I'll give them feedback here because that't what they wanted. ||||I picked this place because it's close to Paddington Station and the pics I saw on Priceline looked nice. But the room was not as nice as the pictures. ||||First at all, this hotel has really weird structure. So may doors, bumps and stairs. I wonder how the handicapped people gonna stay there( probably they can only stay on the first floor) When we got off the super tiny elevator, there were stairs plus bump(WHY?) so we had to jump over it in order to get to our room. Finally we arrive to our room so we opened the door, then we saw 2 more doors. One goes to the bathroom and the other goes to the bedroom. The bedroom was just big enough for a double sized bed and I even could't open my suitcase on the floor. ||||The bathroom was terrible as well. The shower room was super tiny and it only provided either of cold or extremely hot water. Due to the temperature issue, I couldn't even fully wash my hair. And I dunno who installed the sink and shelf but every time I tried to wash my face there, I ended up bumping my forehead to the shelf. If I stepped back, I ended up getting my feet and floor wet because the sink was too small. ||||We didn't changed the hotel because we had to stay there only one night. If we had stayed there more than 2 nights, we would have moved somewhere else because staying there was simply painful. ||||Too bad I couldn't give them zero star but at least the view was pretty( there were 5 black boys filming rap music video right...
Read morePositives: close to everything that is essential restaurants, stores, public transportation, Hyde park, and more. Clean, rooms smell nice, good with supplying coffee, towels, cleaning the rooms. Cleanliness is the reason for 3 stars and not less. Negatives: not easy to find. I watched a lady with two young girls trying to figure out how to open the main entrance door with the handle in the middle of the door. No push or pull, on entrance sign. They were painting the walls in the reception area when I arrived, no caution sign for wet paint or anything. Elevator is tiny and slow, stairs look nice due to the newly done carpeting, but the levels are confusing especially on 4th floor. Walking around on the 4th floor you have to take two steps down and back up to get around because there is a staircase right in the middle of the floor, hard to explain look for pictures. Staff was not rude but wasn't very welcoming either, a simple smile and a good morning would've sufficed, but nope. Bathroom shower is small as well.
I will look elsewhere next time I'm in town.
P.S. WiFi is horrible, keeps cutting out in mornings and evenings when most guests...
