Unfortunately this was a very negative experience. Our son is at Plymouth university, we visited him over the weekend to celebrate his birthday. Having had a look around Plymouth on the web we decided on The Bank, what a mistake that was. Our son is a wheelchair user, we booked ahead asking for an accessible table. Upon arrival we went to the bar to ask where our table was, we were shown to the table by a young man who just said it’s this one, showing us a table by the door with four heavy material chairs. Seeing my son in his electric wheelchair he did not offer to take away a chair he walked off leaving my Husband to move a chair and put it somewhere else, first impressions not good. We were not told how or where to order, if it was table service or to order at the bar absolutely no communication. We ordered at the bar with a young brunette girl who clearly had a chip on her shoulder, terrible cold customer service. They seemed more bothered at moaning between each other than to give any kind of customer service. We ordered our food, when it finally arrived a different waitress bought our food over….who has the single burger….there you go…who had the double….there you go then walked off!!! No can I get you anything else, would you like any sauces, enjoy your meal… just walked off! I had to go and ask for some mayo. The same waitress seemed to be involved in a spat with the bar staff, shouting across asking for help, storming in and out to the garden area to clear a messy table, there is obviously a problem between the staff, no team work at all. The food was ok, but unfortunately the bad customer service ruined our visit. We would not come again, sadly ruining our birthday...

What an absolutely amazing place, this has to be my absolute favourite place to eat and drink in Plymouth easily. What an absolute gem!! I genuinely cannot recommend this place more if I tried!!

We were struggling to find anywhere to eat yesterday after getting stuck in the rain with my little one, we was overjoyed to be able to walk in and be welcomed after so many restaurants turned us away. All the staff members were incredibly kind and courteous, the customer service is really superb, we were regularly checked on to see whether we was okay. It was table service due to the pandemic but we didn't have to for anything really, we was given condiments and a highchair without asking and staff would always take our plates and glasses very promptly too.

Our drinks were very very tasty, i happily sampled the cocktails, the presentation and taste was perfection. And our meals were incredible!! For the price we paid the taste and quality far surpassed this, everything was cooked perfectly, I really enjoyed the vegan meal and my partner stated that he had never enjoyed a mixed grill ever as much as the one he had yesterday, it really did look good though.

This place honestly is worth a visit, its quite centrally located so not much of a journey and there is parking too, the staff and very friendly and happy with probably the best customer service I have ever experienced and the food and drink quality is faultless, especially as the prices are quite reasonable too. Will definitely be visiting time and time again, thank you so much...

Unfortunately it wasn't a good visit at all. Neither was our previous although we wanted to give it another try. Tonight we visited and although the greeting was good it was all downhill from there! We had booked for 4 people for food for my mum's birthday. We were seated next to a table of two (although it sounded like a table of 10) who were only drinking. This in itself was bad as food tables shouldn't be seated next to drink only tables for this reason! In normal times we would have got up and moved but due to covid we couldn't and it only for bad once our food had arrived. We were told we would have to order on the app and none of it was really explained on how to do it/where to go to order online. I ordered the chicken stack and it was nice, my partner ordered the 10oz sirloin and my mum ordered the 8oz rump. Mine and my partners came out and we were told the other steak wouldn't be long but it wasn't great it didn't come out with the others. I'd understand if we were a large table but it was 3 people! My partners steak was more fat and Grissel than meat. The server did not come back over the whole time to do a check back. We were not told about track and trace or to scan the QR code upon arrival. It's a shame as it could be so much better. The manager was lovely, he offered me a drink or dessert but as we had had enough by this point we just...

*April 2025 Another menu refresh and it's a great one again. That is one of the good things about the Bank. It constantly changes up the menu. It has become a fave haunt again. * Dec 2024 I have updated my review to reflect some better menu options and good value thanks to accepting discount schemes. The usual friendly and helpful staff of course, as before. Never had any issue with that here. This seasons menu, too, has some really nice offerings. I had the Irish sausage and mash and it was lovely. If I could nit pick it would be the whisky sauce / gravy , there could have been twice as much. It was soo delicious. Plus, being in the Education sector , I now carry my blue light card/app at all times which they accept. This brought my meal and drink down to 7 quid something!? Brilliant. *Original review - The below was the case. Good reasonably priced grub in a usually quiet setting. You know what your getting. We have been often having a drink and a bite after work one Fridays. The bank is central enough and cheap enough for everyone's needs and so it has become a bit of a favourite. I think of it a quieter weatherspoonsy type place. You know what you're getting every time. Having said that. The food I would say is a better standard. The pic is of some sort of burger, calamari, and onion rings. I often order too much but still power through.
