This place gets very good reviews. So for a special occasion we chose this establishment for a father's day dinner. Took a guest as well. Made reservation and arrived 15 minutes early. Not much seating and stood waiting for table. We were seated on time, there were vacant tables visible. Was told they were short staffed and could not utilize. Long story made short; we waited 20 minutes and received no recognition. Asked a staff member if we could get some water. Reply wait for your server. 10 minutes later I went to hostess station and requested water. Was asked why I didn't request from server, answered. I haven't seen one yet. People arrived and were seated next to us. In 10 minutes they had a wine steward and coloring supplies for their children. I again asked hostess ( there were 2) for service. The hostess apologized and finally brought us some water. A few moments later a waitress appeared AT THE NEIGBORING TABLE and took their order and disappeared into the kitchen area. An hour had transpired since we were seated. I was frustrated to the maximum at that time and took our group out of the restaurant. I told the hostesses as we left why we were leaving. I later that evening called the restaurant and asked for the manager. I believe her name was Destiny, Dawn something like that. She identified herself as the night manager. Related my experience to her. She apologized said they were very busy on that holiday. Asked me several questions about where we were seated, what hostesses were on duty etc. Apologized and asked me to please give them another try and to come again. Question; with such a complete breakdown in communication and awareness. Would you go back? I cannot attest to the food or drink as I was unable to consume. But in 78 yrs of life and hundreds of dining experiences, this was the most abysmal I have ever endured. In retrospect it seems hard to believe now that as vocal and proactive as I was we could get service. My rating reflects our experience. M. Stroud.Adding a postscript to my review; several other reviews describing similar experiences if you search for them. ALL THE SAME BOILERPLATE DISINGENUOUS REPLY. Give us your contact info and we'll get in touch. WHICH THEY DO NOT! This is the proverbial insult to injury action from an establishment that DOES NOT CARE! Been around for awhile, was great once. But has now" jumped the shark." If you get the reference. Never again for me, too many honest respectful places to patronize and enjoy. A shame, good...
Read moreOk, I have to admit, this place is pretty dang good. I don't just say that about a lot of places. Honestly, I think I'm incredibly harsh on how I rate the quality of my food. I should be ashamed.
Now, I have been going to this place nearly every day since I first set foot in it about a month ago. My family and I decided to try a new place before my husband deployed. The restaurant had been up about a year now I think? I just never imagined eating there because I was under the impression that it was incredibly fancy and I needed a cocktail dress and nice heels + a reservation to even go inside. It was actually the opposite. It's a more intimate and refined environment than most of the places in Alamogordo. I'd consider it a breath of fresh air or a diamond in the rough. Definitely something that this city needed.
I called beforehand to ask if it would be alright if I came in dressed in sneakers and jeans. I'd just gotten off of work and I was insanely tired. They informed me that that was fine as there are some people from the gym across the street who come in with their work-out attire some nights.
They offer wine-tasting before you order a glass or a bottle, which I thought was really nice because I'm definitely not a wine connoisseur. I'd have to taste it to know if I liked it enough to put myself through the Asian flush.
Everything on the menu looked delicious and trust me when I say they are. I have been coming here for 2 months straight now and have tried at least 73% of the menu to test my theory.
Pot roast? 10/10. Soup of the moments? 10/10. Complimentary bread and garlic butter? 10/10 Meatloaf? 10/10. The whole kid's menu [don't judge me]? 10/10. Salmon? 10/10. All the pasta on the menu? 10/10.
I've eaten here an embarrassingly crazy number of times that some of waitresses recognize me. And when I say often, I'd eaten lunch/dinner here the past 3 days before posting this. Everything is made in-house and feels like it's hugging you from the inside when you consume it. The steak is probably the best part. Cooked to perfection and according to the temp you request. Worth the expense 100%. The green chili and pork stew is god's work, I assure you.
I absolutely recommend this...
Read moreIf you’re looking for an upscale feel this is the place to go to in Alamogordo. Compared to other cities (big cities) I would compare it to the equivalent of Olive Garden but heftier price point. I’ve been twice: first time was dinner catch up with a friend and the second time was an office going away dinner. On the first occasion the server was very polite and attentive. I would say the service was slow. I guess due to dinner time that’s why. However, we were 1 of 3 tables on the right side of the building (close to back patio) and 10-min in a table occupant left as they were done with their service. The second visit as stated was a going away. We made reservations and was told they would be able to support a party of 20 for 7:30pm. Most ppl arrived btw 7:40/5. We had 1 server and by the time I arrived 8pm he was taking orders. He wrote ppl names and orders as we did separate checks. Our food did take awhile even though some people had simple appetizers. One person in our party we presumed her order was overlooked as she didn’t receive her food until the speech timeframe. The manager/head server stated it would be comp but there was an oversight on this as well. As it was time to start leaving the server came back around to confirm our orders for the check. He went to input our checks but some individuals checks had other ppls orders/not what they ordered. They officially close at 9 but it was 9:45 and we were still waiting on our correct checks or them to take payments. This is when we learned our server was new! Some other servers came to assist in cleaning the table. This is when we were also told they appreciate our patience from the manager/lead server. By the time we all received/signed for payment it was 10:30.
I wouldn’t say this is just a D.H. LesCombes issue when it comes to servers. If there are 10 or more customers on a table another servers should be allocated automatically. ESPECIALLY if the...
