Waffle & Pancake Shoppe — Restaurant in Alamogordo

Food is always great. Very fast service. Great value for the money. I've only had one issue in all the times we have been here, which has sadly kept us away for quite some time now. On a particularly busy day, my pregnant wife and I were seated at the bar. No problem. Still great service and you get to be right in the action as you watch the team work on orders. The issue we had was with one individual. He was the one preparing all of the eggs, potatoes, and meats. While very speedy, there were some glaring issues with his method: First, he wore no gloves at all. Raw egg and whatever else he touched were simply wiped on to an apron that looked like it had never been washed, or straight onto his jeans. The second issue was that he kept pulling out his cell phone and texting the entire time. Dirty, sticky hands and all. Cell phone would come out, text text text, shoved back in pocket, grab some bacon and add it to the grill. Never a trip to the sink to wash his hands; in the entire time we were seated for breakfast. Surprising to see, as this was done right out in the open in front of all of the patrons at the bar. Again, I must mention that the food is great and it's a wonderful value. We just have not gotten the courage to chance it again, for fear of getting sick from the lack of sanitary standards...

Showed up with a party of 5 on a Saturday morning. This place was packed It's relatively small however they make good use of the space inside. Getting seated was kinda long, took about 20 minutes but between the service and food it was worth the wait.

Service was prompt. Once seated we had placed our order for drinks mine being sweet tea. Literally in less than a few minutes we had our drinks. Sweet tea here was pretty good.

After we had placed our order for food. Mind you we are a party of 5. In a busy restaurant. We had our food literally within 5-10 minutes. They have an excellent system with excellent cooks running every square inch of the grill. Just that type of speed of service is hard to come by.

The food was excellent as well. I had Porky's revenge and it was the perfect portion.

Over all this place should be on your list if you like breakfast and fast...

Came into town on an overnight turn around. We looked for a place to get some good breakfast. Saw the reviews and we were NOT disappointed! The chicken fried steak was the absolute best of any I have had. I ordered it for a vessel for the green chili sauce that I wanted to have. The steak being the best one ever was a nice surprise. The green chili gravy/sauce, (not sure what to call it) was so good we asked to buy some for the road. Our server, Abby was such a professional. She was very aware of our needs without us having to flag her down. The restaurant was busy that day and somehow she comfortably took care of the other patrons while not making us feel rushed with anything. She even found time to get us directions to a local store to buy some Hatch green chilis. The food was incredible and Abby was wonderful! Thank you to the whole staff. Cooks to thank...
