Update: We love this place. We stop in probably once a week in the summer months and slightly less during the winter but still weâre there. Canât resist. The ice cream and the service is always so good. Sometimes the line is very long but it moves super fast.
Edited to addâŚStopped in for a quick dip. The line was all the way out the door. Only one employee working today (Colin). Abnormal. Usually there are multiple ppl working when weâre there but in fairness it is the middle of winter, and a balmy 60° day which no one was expecting this time of year. Just wanna say that Colin was killing it! There were so many ppl coming thru that store and he scooped the most gorgeous scoops of ice cream for every single customer. He was incredibly polite, friendly, and just doing an amazing job for the sheer number of ppl he was serving. We were just blown away by how great he was. We donât know him other than from meeting him today but seriously, anyone who employs this guy is sitting on a gold mine. His ability to handle stress and still produce a high quality product every single time was phenomenal. The perfect little place to grab an ice cream while in DTA. I love that they serve Hershey's ice cream (my personal favorite). It's so great to be able to just pop in and grab an ice cream while you are taking a stroll around the harbor. The ice cream never...
Read moreWe were in Annapolis for the weekend: stopped in Friday night for chocolate icecream for my little guy and something for my middle guy. Delicious, quick, great. Last night I took my little guy for chocolate icecream and noticed the soft serve machine... asked the man serving us if the soft serve would be safe for a peanut allergy... he assured me the soft serve was safe and also that he would be more than happy to open a new canister out of the back freezer to prevent cross contamination. Fingers crossed I returned tonight with the whole family, including my 9 year old with a peanut allergy (I had warned them we may all âjustâ be able to get soft serve). Same man was working. He seemed to recognize me immediately and made our familyâs night when he specially washed a scoop and went and got a brand new canister of âcotton candyâ icecream out of the freezer to serve our oldest from. He played it down particularly when I tried to tip him, but really, this is HUGE in the life of an âallergy familyâ. This was my 9 year olds 2nd time EVER being able to go to an icecream shop like a ânormalâ kid and was the icing on the cake of a great vacation!!! We will certainly be back anytime we make our way from Chicago to Annapolis and will be spreading the word near and far about the amazing customer service and ability to work with our familyâs...
Read moreThe ice cream is fine, good variety of flavors, about what you'd expect from a tourist hot spot. However the problem came at check out when I and several other people discovered that they are cash only. I looked around and did discover a notice in the back saying that they do that to keep costs down and keep the line moving quickly. The irony was that I went from a line for ice cream to a line to use the ATM. It seemed like the employees were also exasperated, since I assume they spend all day long having to tell confused customers that they only take cash. A frustrating, outdated policy.
Edit - I appreciate the owner's detailed response! Clearly they have been very successful running their business and have put a lot of thought into their cash policy. My only suggestion would be to look into Square readers - they are super quick, and don't generate receipts or require additional equipment except for a smartphone. Even the local farmer's market vendors use them now, so I don't even bring cash for that nowadays. Might not work well for this shop but could be worth...
