Great location and the price was reasonable. About $109 a night. We were in Annapolis for a wedding and I can't imagine a more ideal location than where the Robert Johnson is. It was convenient to everything. You are just a few steps from Main St. where all the shops and restaurants are. Nearby are the Naval Academy and the waterfront area. It is right on State Circle which is very picturesque but also quiet because the street isn't very large.
The room was smaller than in a modern hotel but adequate. The bathroom was very narrow. One more mirror would have been nice as well. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. They have free wifi but we didn't check it out.
Robert Johnson House is run by Historic Inns of Annapolis which has 2 other inns as well. One downside is that there is no lobby at Robert Johnson and you have to check in at the Governor Calvert House on the other side of State Circle. It is not that inconvenient. Just pull up at Governor Calvert, go in and get checked in, then hop back in the car and go round the circle and unload at Robert Johnson.
I am not sure about the week but on the weekend there is a garage about 4 blocks away where you can park for free. Everything is so close that we didn't need the car all weekend so it was perfect. The other option is valet parking...
Read moreThe Historic Inns of Annapolis are our favorite place to get away as a couple. We have stayed in the Maryland House, The Calvert House and now the Robert Johnson House.
The Johnson House was a nice, comfortable experience. We enjoyed our view and it was clean and beautiful as Always!
My one quam in room 2312 was the shower. The handle was wonky, making it impossible to regulate the temperature adequately. It was either too hot or a bit too cold. I was also standing in a puddle of water at my feet. My husband says I am too picky. Maybe so, but hey, some of you out there are like me. It may be this one room. The front desk didn't ask me how our stay was, otherwise I would have told them.
I wouldn't not stay at the Robert Johnson, it's very lovely. We will just shoot for reservations at The Calvert earlier next time, as it is our personal favorite. We love the architecture and the rooms are a bit more private and generously sized.
Ohh and pay for parking in advance, otherwise you will be inconvenienced by finding parking. We didn't realize this.We had an infant with us and it was a bit of a drag to walk a half mile to our car with a plethora of baby...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed in a 2nd floor room at the Robert Johnson House in Annapolis this past weekend. Location is excellent; right across the street from the capital building. We checked in at the Governor Calvert House over an hour early and our room was ready, which was very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Robert Johnson House is just on the opposite side of the Calvert House, an easy 3 min walk. Inside of the building was cozy, historic and beautiful. The room was small, but had everything we needed. A queen bed, small desk on one side of the bed and a nightstand on the other side. A large wall mirror, a dresser with a good-size television, and a bathroom with plenty of room to get cleaned up and ready. There were 2 windows in the room and one in the bathroom, so plenty of natural lighting. Temperature was perfect and the mattress was on the firm side, but very comfortable; both my wife and I slept well. And, no noise from the outside as well. The location is perfect, as you are w/in a 3-5 min walk of most of the shops, cafes, and restaurants of historic...
