Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a lover of Tacos and most of all, Tacos on a Tuesday! During my recent quest for new spots, it was recommended that I try out Velvet Taco so I decided to give it a try.
To start, let’s talk about the location. Understanding that visual appeal is part of consumer draw, Velvet Taco hit the visual appeal right on the head. The all-glass windows paired with the outside sitting area and ample group and personal-style seating make this the perfect option for any size… Upon walking in, I love how the menus are posted on the wall as I had the ability to view it in full at my own pace without holding up the line. The Order Here/Pick-Up setup is ideal for the traffic flow as the main area is long (left to right) but not wide (front to back). As such, this allows for less congestion in the main area.
Upon placing our order we decided to sit outside. The outside has a super dope setup with the graffiti wall and wall decor. It really has a nice vibe that adds to the tone of a high-energy vibe.
The Food: (2) Buffalo chicken tacos - crisp tenders, house buffalo sauce, danish bleu cheese, ranch crema, carrots, micro celery, flour tortilla | (2) Spicy tikka chicken tacos - crisp tenders, spicy tikka sauce, buttered cilantro basmati rice, raita crema, Thai basil, flour tortilla And, (1) Chimichurri steak taco - grilled flank steak, buttered cilantro basmati rice, chimichurri, avocado, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, cilantro, flour tortilla
I’ll be honest, after biting into these tacos I have come to the conclusion that I have fallen in love. LoL! All of the meat was well seasoned. The flour tortillas were warm and soft. All of the fixins were fresh, and to top it all off, the presentation of the tacos was enticing to the 3rd power. This was a mouth-watering visual that was then enhanced by the true mouth pleasing flavor of EVERY SINGLE TACO!
Velvet Taco has elevated the flavor profile of what a taco used to be and introduced me to the Next Generation of Taco Tuesdayyyyyyy!!!! I promise you, you must give this place a try…
P. S. Don’t judge me if you see me there every night now. LoL!!!!
**Note to anyone who decides to sit outside: The speaker volume is low so make sure to listen closely as there is music playing and general noise from the patrons of...
Read moreI decided to patronize Velvet Taco LASTNIGHT, (which was a HUGE MISTAKE) after attending a concert. Upon arrival my date and I saw how LONG THE LINE was, so we decided to order ONLINE instead. Around this time its 1:27am.
I figured out that, the online website ask for you to pick a time, that you would be available to pick up your order. I chose the 1:30-1:45am PICK UP time frame, since I was already on property. Once my date arrived to the Drive Thru window showing my order was SUCCESFULLY paid for, with the screenshot to back it up, a "so call" Manager name SHAY said, there was no order for me (my name) in her system and if the order is put in after 1:30am, the system kicks it out and it rolls over to the NEXT DAY! Basically I wouldn't be able to redeem my food. She also stated that I would have to WAIT 5 BUSINESS DAYS to get reimbursed the money I paid for my order. Oh yeah, I WAS LIVID! So, you mean to tell me that I ordered some food online, paid for it and took a loss because y'all refuse to make my order?!?! I took pictures of the manager in the BLUE SHIRT, but unfortunately I can't post it not the screenshot of my food. Smh.
I just don't understand WTH that was all about! Velvet Taco, why would you ACCEPT my ORDER and PAYMENT after a certain time, if the kitchen stops taking online orders at 1am??????
Hello!?! Am I the only one who sees the Scam and BAD SERVICE in whats going on here? Why not just make my food order and let me go on my merry way?
I confronted Ms./Mr. SHAY, about the nonsense, but I was told, the order was through a THIRD-PARTY, so there's nothing she can do. I was also told by Shay they were the General Manager and they don't have a manager above them. What kind of rachet/inconvenienced/HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE at the HOWELL MILL/INTERLOCK location is going on???
At this point, I want my money back and I want to speak to someone from the Texas headquarters or a more professional Manager.
Waiting to hear back from VELVET TACO MANAGEMENT ASAP!
Velvet Taco General Manager - Lucio, reached out to me and also reimbursed my money spent on the tacos that...
Read moreAnd just like that, your review goes from 5 stars to 1. I came in for lunch expecting the same great service I get every time only to be sorely disappointed. I stood at the counter for about 3 minutes before anyone noticed me, but I wasn’t upset about that, it happens. Alicia turned around and noticed I was there and immediately alerted another staff member that there was a counter order. I couldn’t see her, but I could certainly hear her. By the reactions of the other customers, they could too. She says to Alicia, I’m talking! Alicia: it’s not an order for me, it’s for her (she pointed at me) Rude person: AND? I’ll be there in a minute. Alicia: why you gotta be like that? Rude person says something else but I couldn’t hear that part clearly. Then another young lady, Bailey, came to try to save the situation. I appreciate her kindness but I was over it by then.
A rude, unprofessional employee will lose you lots of customers and even more money. If you don’t want to work or be nice to people, please stay home. A business gains its value and reputation through the staff. Whoever you are, you failed your team today. They are taking an L because of you. My last review gave The Velvet Taco 5 stars. Now it’s a 1. My first review is below this one.
The service was stellar and so was the food!!!! When I placed my order, the young man at the counter with the long locs was very thoughtful. I ordered the brisket nachos and asked for no cilantro due to an allergy. He then made sure I didn’t get the pico de gallo because it too has cilantro. That small gesture made all the difference! Thank you! When I tell yall these were the best nachos I’ve ever had, BELIEVE ME. The meat was plentiful and so tender and seasoned perfectly! They use blue tortilla chips and the queso was FIRE🔥. The portion was really nice and the price was even nicer. $7.95 for that plate of food is really customer appreciation. Please don’t change that. I paired my nachos with a mandarin Jarrito’s soda and it was heavenly. My total was under $13. I can’t wait to come dine with y’all again. Well earned 5...
