The worst service I have ever encountered! I called for some information. The answering machine gave me 2 options for language, then 2 options for depts: #1 for civil affairs and #0 for consulate general matters. The operator from the consulate general affairs dept transferred me to a man. He seemed informative; however, it was hard for me to have him listen to what I was looking for. He corrected me each time I said something wrong to his knowledge rather than patiently listening to what I was trying to say. He then directed me to call the dept for a birth repot and said to click #3. I explained that there was no option #3 for me to click when I called the number, but he just kept saying like, "Just hit #3. This is not a birth report dept. I don't work there, and that is not what I do," as if he is done as far as his job goes and he wants to get rid of me. After many attempts to find this option #3 that the staff on the phone tried to tell me, I finally got a girl from the other dept who explained that I needed to just hit Ext# 112 right after choosing the dept option. All these chaos⦠if only the 1st person on the phone had listened to a citizen (for whom theyāre thinking theyāre serving) and if he/she was well aware of how their stupid answering machine operates, this wouldnāt happen in the first place. It doesnāt matter whether youāre working for companies or government. Weāre all serving someone as long as we are sitting on a chair for the job weāre hired for. How people will view a company or an organization as a whole depends on how the workers are with customers. Iāve dealt with staff at embassies from different states since I moved to the US, but I have NEVER been treated this way in my entire life being in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe experiences with the Consulate General of Korea in Atlanta largely contributed our decision to give up Korean citizenship because it was clear to us that Korean citizens won't be able to get any help from a Korean Consulate in case of an emergency in the US.
We had an emergency related to an international travel. We had to travel the next day but both US and Korean passports for my kids expired. As Atlanta Consulate (for Koreans) and US Passport Agency (for Americans) are next each other, we visited both places, hoping to get a travel authorization document so that we can travel the next day.
A receptionist in the Korean Consulate in Atlanta had an attitude and was quite rude. When we explained our situations, she simply said "No, there is nothing we can do." Later, from web search, we found that they could have issued a travel authorization document for a one-time use.
On the other hand, people in the US Passport Agency made it clear that they would do anything to help people in emergency. When we got there, we found that we did not bring one important document. We were panicked but they comforted us, saying that they would issue a one-year limited passport on the same day instead of a five-year passport. Moreover, we were told that if we provide the missing documents within a month, they would replace the one-year limited passport with a five-year passport for free of charge. What a different experience! We were able to travel with our kids the next day with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI mailed my passport and other documents to apply multiple entry Korea visa to this consulate. I did a lot of research before I mailed it. I prepared all the doc that may be required to apply multiple entry and I collect the timeline of other people who mailed their application in this way.
There were no updates after 4 days my application was delivered. I tried to call in both English and Korea but no response. I emailed them instead and got a really unprofessional response that told me he or she is working alone and canāt do anything for my personal request.
I patiently waited another 4 days but still no update on the status. So I emailed them again and finally found an update next day that they approved me only single entry and expire in 3 months! I paid $90 dollar for multiple entries but was only approved for single entry without telling me any reason! I have a job, sufficient bank balance to support my travel and also other developed countries visas. I have to regard this as kind of revenge because I keep following up my case status!
I was so pissed off, I have been to more than 16 countries and this was my worst experience on visa application. What even worse, itās been couple days of my visa being processed but I canāt track the return usps envelope info at all!
I am so anxious where my passport goes!
And please improve your visa service! Yāall are on be half of the...
