Disappointing Experience at Universal Soul Circus - Chicago.
I don’t usually post reviews, but my experience with Universal Soul Circus was so poor that I feel compelled to share. I purchased my tickets directly at the box office last Saturday at around 12:30 PM to avoid the high service fees charged online through Ticketmaster. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, I encountered two employees at the box office who were extremely rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful.
When I asked a simple question, the responses were short, dismissive, and condescending. Both the male and female employees, with the female serving as the supervisor, displayed an alarming level of unprofessionalism. Their rude tone, irritated expressions, and unwillingness to assist made it clear they didn’t want to be there. Myself, along with other customers, were treated with disrespect as if we were inconveniencing them by simply trying to buy tickets.
To make matters worse, when I tried to use a discount code, the supervisor rudely snapped, "You can’t use that coupon here. You have to use it online, but you’ll pay more with taxes and service fees." Her attitude was so unpleasant that I nearly walked away without buying the tickets. However, I had promised my daughter and granddaughter I’d take them, so I reluctantly proceeded with the purchase.
The following day, we attended the 3 PM show on Sunday, only to be met with the same unprofessional behavior from staff members. Sadly, I wasn’t surprised given my experience at the box office the day before.
As for the show itself, it wasn’t the extraordinary performance I remember. There were no animals or standout acts, just music and dancing. I’m not discrediting the performers, as they did their best, but the ticket price simply doesn’t match the quality of the show.
Additionally, I paid $18 for two watered-down icy cups ($9 each). When I handed the vendor $20 in cash, he told me he didn’t have change and that he would just keep my $2 as a tip! I was stunned, especially since I saw him holding a stack of singles. He could have easily given me my change, but instead, I had to use my credit card. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable.
From the rude customer service at the box office to the overpriced tickets and lackluster show, my entire experience was deeply disappointing. I believe Universal Soul Circus is taking advantage of middle- and lower-class families in underserved communities by overcharging for a subpar experience. This needs to be addressed, and I strongly believe the Better Business Bureau should be notified. I also need to know who to contact to request a full refund for this unsatisfactory experience.

Read moreIf I had words to describe what we saw today, they would be beautiful, incredible and most importantly, mind blowing! Absolutely one of the best circus shows I've seen to date. It's been a while since I last saw a Circus as a kid, so this was certainly a breath of fresh air knowing these wonderful folks would be performing in the Tampa Bay area right next door to the Raymond James Stadium, it was super convenient that we happened to book our tickets at the best time as they are here until the 30th before they move to Jacksonville as their next stop.
What can I say about Universoul Circus? It's a remarkable family owned tradition at its finest. My mother and I got lucky catching the 12:00 show today as it was not too far of a walk to get through the stadium parking lot and into the circus tent itself. The staff were very friendly and more than happy to put a smile on everyone's faces, the tent itself was really big and spacious with plenty of room to walk around and get good seats, the food and drink offerings were excellent top notch service and the people seated everywhere were wonderful to talk to, it's not everyday you get to see a spectacle like this with many friends you can meet along the way.
The ringmasters were very energetic throughout the entire show introducing each act and interacting with the audience throughout each one. All the acts were a magnificent display of cultural heritage from around the world whilst retaining the traditional circus spirit and honestly, we loved it to the very end. It's hard to pick a favorite act as they were all so spectacularin their own right, but in my opinion, I would say the grand finale with the motorcycle stunt drivers was by far the icing on the cake for me.
After watching the show for ourselves, I really don't understand the negative buzz surrounding them when there was nothing but positivity spread throughout the entire show amongst the audience and the performers. The biggest complaint I've seen was related to them having no animals in it which in my opinion was for the best, as fun as animal performances were at the time, animal cruelty is no joke at all as people fail to understand what these animals go through just to do these acts which honestly saddens me, circuses have always been evolving throughout time and in all honesty, it's time to move on to the next chapter and focus on good quality family entertainment.
In the end, Universoul Circus greatly succeeded in its goal of connecting the whole world together with a lot of heart and soul put into it and it well deserves its name of Universoul in its title and being referred to as a big top circus in town! I highly recommend it to just about everybody when they stop by your area, you would not want to miss this marvelous family...
Read moreHello, I wanted to bring a troubling incident to the public's attention in regards to safety at the show. First and foremost the first thing that I noticed upon arrival that there were no security checkpoints at all. It was off-putting given the circumstances around mass attacks currently plaguing our society. I understand that this is a circus and we shouldn't have to worry about this, however, at the same time, guest safety should be your highest priority at all times. Any and everything can be flowing through your tent and you wouldn't even know. This brings me to the exact incident this review is about. After our show we were attempting to exit Floyd Bennet Field and make our way back towards Kings Plaza, the line for the free shuttle bus was tremendously long so we decided to sit on one of the orange barriers that surround the shuttle waiting area. A few moments later a car comes barreling toward us attempting to park ( in a space that isn't a designated parking space) Of course people in the crowd were upset and began to make remarks to each other about the incident. The man in the cat eventually gets out of the car dressed in a pink suit with a green dental floss in his mouth and says to me " Are you good? Enjoy the show" he then proceeds towards the entrance and as he's walking he purposely lifts up the back of his suit on the right side revealing a holstered gun. He then proceeds to the entrance and goes into the tent. I just wanted to make you guys aware of the situation, and that there are weapons that are flowing right into your tent.
UPDATE' After diving in further into the history and leadership, the guy in the pink suit appears to be Cedric Walker, the owner of the circus. I'm not 100% sure however the face and the voice all mimic the guy we encountered. If this is the case..... There's a...
