We have arrived to the place, walked in, went up and then there was a machine saying:
“Order & Pay here”
(Hint: No obvious indication of takeaway)
We ordered food there, but it was asking for phone number - we are just tourists so we dont have a phone number.
After they answered, we wanted to sit down upstairs but the manager with the black shirt didn’t let us to sit down.
We respectfully asked but why, and he said “you ordered for to go”
We were like, no we didnt mean to.
He said, “you used the machine so you ordered for to go”
Then we said to them something like: we would like to sit, and he repeated, no you ordered to go. Soft way of kicking paying customers out… (There was a lot of places, plus again, the machine had 0 indication first that it will only be to go) In fact at another sign says specifically “order here for to go” elswhere.
Other reason I personally wanted to go up was to get my drink (i didnt see it downstairs) But since that was aborted because it is takeaway, I was hoping to find my drink in the bag. At home when i opened it, I realised my drink was missing. So literally, like 4 usd is out of the window for me…wasted.
By the point of when we all got our food we were super irritated by this bad service. And when we got all the plastic bags and plastic cutleries, he briefly mentioned something like ‘actually u can eat here too’ (when we were more downstairs) - but that time we were just rather wanting to leave. Even tho it was super uncomfortable for us because we had to eat these intense and oily foods in our hotel room from the bed.
Horrible experience. If you want to be treated as a human when being a customer then dont eat here. Big...
Read moreMy wife and I patronized this restaurant as part of a Mardi Gras bar crawl. The expectation for the service we would receive at this establishment was a $3 shots in the upstairs area. The server along with her co-worker who assisted us was helpful in ensuring we understood what the restaurant special included. We ordered a shot of vodka and a shot of tequila and waited a minimum of 20 minutes. We were about to leave the establishment when our server informed us the shots were about to be served.
We proceeded to the bar to receive the shots and witness a discussion between the supervisor, Mario, and the staff regarding the appropriate procedure to ring up the special order. After waiting an additional ten minutes observing the discussion between the bartender and the supervisor regarding the appropriate procedure for delivery in an order we obtained our complete request.
We requested to speak with the supervisor who deflected blame on the service of the special pricing to miscommunication between the prior supervisor on duty and the bartending staff. As customers, we should not have borne witness to operational issues between the management and staff.
The supervisor in question, Mario, informed us communication from the restaurant’s ownership to the staff regarding the event was unsatisfactory. One of the servers tried to assist the server assigned to us with facilitating completion of the special so we were confused.
Ultimately, how could we recommend patronizing an establishment that provides inconsistency between management and staff and a situation where the management displays incredible unprofessionalism regarding disputes in front...

Let me set the stage: it’s a hot Saturday afternoon in downtown Atlanta. We’re in the middle of a 100-person MARTA bar crawl (yes, you read that right — one hundred people), and Metro Diner is our next stop. Only one problem: we showed up completely unannounced around 1 p.m., and the bar area wasn’t open yet.
Most places would’ve politely turned us away. Not Metro Diner.
The owner — an absolute legend — literally ran downstairs, saw us turning to leave, and stopped us in our tracks. “Don’t go anywhere. We’ll open for you.” Within minutes, he had rallied a team, got bartenders behind the bar, and personally opened up the space for our massive group like it was no big deal. That kind of hospitality? You don’t see it anymore. Not in 2025. Not anywhere.
The drinks? Delicious. Strong. Exactly what you want on a bar crawl. The bartenders? Absolute gems. Friendly, fast, and fun. The vibe? Immaculate. You step inside and it’s like a time machine back to a golden era of Atlanta nightlife. Huge space, glowing with vintage charm. The second I walked in I thought, how have I stayed away so long? It’s got that iconic “Atlanta staple” feel you can’t fake — it just is.
I’ve been here before for a night out (yes, karaoke nights are elite) and now I’m counting the days until I’m back. This place isn’t just a bar. It’s a community landmark, a sanctuary for good times and even better people.
I cannot recommend Metro Diner enough. If you want true Southern hospitality, a damn good drink, and a vibe that makes you feel like you’re part of Atlanta history — this is your spot. Period....
