Booked through TicketsAtWork.com and their partners and what they have done to me as their customer is appalling. I was mislead into a hotel stay at this place that was misrepresented as the Fairfield Inn & Suites, but wasn't (which is false advertising.) When I formally expressed my concerns for the safety of my life, based on very public reviews of the actual hotel I was deceived into booking (paying for in full, without chance of refund.) I was conveniently and undeniably ignored Unitl after DAYS passed and I had no other choice but to check into misrepresented booked hotel of a different name (That was never confirmed or denied by any representative during our multiple exchangesof emails.) The hotel is was in a horribly unsafe area, it was rundown, with old broken everything. Though my reservation was paid in full at time of booking, an Unreaveled Daily $80 charge is mandatory at the "Connelly Hotel" (Not the "Fairfield Inn & Suites Atlanta Downtown" I booked.) Now there is Still an additional $400 charge on my credit card I DID NOT AGREE TO PAY. As I checked in Thursday, Aug 28th I found a panel missing (a hole) in the furniture containing the refrigerator as soon as I walked in. The AC made a very loud bang and rattled each time it kicked on (keeping me awake all night.) The toilet consistently ran. Carpet all looked old and dirty, the couch too. I heard EVERYONE outside and the night club music (I was initially on the 15th floor.) I went to work Friday at 8am, returned around 8:30pm. I just wanted to eat and sleep, I found that someone was in my room and had taken my leftover food out of the fridge. The staff at the front desk said no housekeeping was scheduled for my room. The garbage was not taken out, made not made or fresh towels left. According to them, no record of anyone in my room. I was freaked out and felt Very unsafe. At that point I switched rooms to one on the 7th floor. This room was not "customer ready" as it only contained two shower caps and makeup wipes. NO soap, no bath matt, one half used roll of toilet paper, and few towels. The toilet ran in this one as well, the carpet and sofa had the same old, misused looked at the previous room. The AC unit was quieter, but the beds were Uncomfortable doesn't begin to describe it. I felt every spring! I had to go to the desk and request basic necessary, that should have been in the room. My key cards had to be reprogrammed almost every evening when I returned as I could not get into my room. The WORST most inconvenient part was that every morning I got ready for work; I had to Repack everything and lock it in my luggage. As I feared everything would be stolen, since they could not provide a reason someone was in my room, nor could they check their cameras or room key systems.. As the woman explained it was only her "Fourth day working." And the gentleman said "That's above my pay grade." I do not know how in words to express how dissatisfied, disappointed and utterly unhappy I am with the misrepresented and mishandling of this reservation/situation as a customer. Clearly TicketsAtWork and their partners do not value sustaining loyal long-term customers or the lives of their customers when formally expressed genuine concern for safey is undoubtedly dismissed. The company values the almighty dollar, not human beings that pay them.
Only saving grace was some nice staff (especially the Breakfast ladies and a night time...
Read moreTerrible experience. Please do not stay here. I’m still awaiting a refund on a $864.08 charge. I didn’t even stay a night. I’ve disputed the charge with my CC company since the hotel doesn’t seem to be helping.
I made my booking through Choice Hotels, which had decent reviews for this place. I was given a quote of $544.07. When I arrived, I was told there’s valet only parking, at $55 per night, and a nightly security deposit charge of $80 per night. None of this information was made available to me when I booked the room. Only until after I made the booking was it in the details on the Choice Hotels website. The information isn’t even on the confirmation of booking email.
After checking in and paying, I walked into the worst hotel room I’ve ever been in. There were strange marks on the walls, dirt, some kind of fluids (I’m guessing), mildew, mold, stains and other issues. Broken and damaged furniture, obviously unclean carpet and shower, fraying and damaged carpet, peeling walls, and so much more. The bathroom sink is bigger than the kitchenette sink. I couldn’t even fit my arm in there if I needed to wash something. You’d end up with water all over yourself.
Worst of all, by far, was the smell. It smells extremely musty. I’ve included a photo of a vent with staining underneath it from a moisture control issue. One of my traveling companions has severe asthma. There was no way we could’ve stayed, not that we had any desire to.
Both of our TVs weren’t working properly (one had no signal, no information, and the other was completely discolored blue and couldn’t be changed). The lights in the bedroom weren’t working properly. I booked a stay for 2 king beds and a bedroom suite. There were 2 king beds and a pull-out.
After documenting all of this and calling Choice Hotels with some choice opinions, I returned to the front desk and explained we wouldn’t be staying here, and that I wanted to be refunded. I was told the reservation would be “released”. I asked so it’s being refunded? They said yes. It stayed pending in my account for almost a week before it posted. When it did, I called the hotel and asked for a refund again. No refund for me yet. Also, I was never given a receipt, confirmation, or any type of paperwork by the hotel.
After reading these reviews, it seems more than a handful of folks aren’t getting their “$80/night security deposit” back. I’ll continue to dispute this with my CC company. If I continue to have issues getting a full refund for a hotel I didn’t and couldn’t stay in, I’m happy to go to the BBB, every review website, and contact whomever at the city of Atlanta with interest in poor business practice.
Also, I’d like to leave a reminder for the general public that the Consumer Review Fairness Act is a 2016 federal law which protects consumers’ right to share their honest opinions about a business in any form, including online reviews. A company cannot stop a consumer from posting a negative review or penalize them for doing so. For example, if a company was withholding a refund as a penalization for bad reviews and an honest experience, they’d be breaking federal law.
UPDATE: I finally got my refund almost a month after leaving my reservation. Took 2 follow-up calls to the hotel, starting a claim with my CC company, and filing a BBB complaint (although that didn’t help much because the business isn’t updated on the BBB and gave...
