On the first night, we drop off our stuff and go about our other plans and commitments. When we get back to the hotel late at night, I pull back the covers to crawl in bed to discover multiple, large, bright yellow stains all over the comforter. My 10 year old, my 6 year old and my 5 month old are all sound asleep, so I chuck the comforter on the floor, make sure there are no more stains in either of the beds and decide to deal with it in the morning.
I took a picture down to the front desk and they were very nice and very apologetic. I was assured that the problem would be taken care of while we were out that day. (We were there for a cheerleading competition that required us to be gone for several hours each day.) When we returned, we find that the beds were remade (this time with clean sheets and comforters) but housekeeping neglected the entire rest of the room. Dirty towels still all over the bathroom floor, both trash cans still full, no cups to replace the ones that were used, no clean towels to replace the dirty ones, dried toothpaste still in the sink, etc.
I called down to the front desk and requested some fresh towels. She was kind and polite and brought them up very quickly. I spoke to her again later on at the front desk and she apologized repeatedly and said that she could tell just by me opening my door that the room had not been attended to. She told me that she could take $50 off of my rate for that night, but her manager had taken away most of their abilities and that was the absolute best she could do for me, but said he would definitely be in before we checked out.
That same night, the air conditioner stops working in the entire hotel. It's very late and all 3 kids are awake and miserable and no one can sleep because it is excruciatingly hot. I am approached in the morning and told that they will make sure my room gets a deep cleaning while we're out and that the manager should be there for me to speak to. The room gets cleaned (ish. It wasn't what I would consider a deep clean, but it was leaps and bounds better than the previous days.) When we returned, I asked to speak with the manager and was told he had already left but would definitely return early the next morning and I could speak to him when I checked out.
The next morning comes and he is nowhere to be found. I'm told he won't be in until later and have to leave my name, cell phone number, what room I was in and everything that happened and told I WOULD be getting a phone call from him as soon as he arrived. We leave and I drive all the way back home and no phone call. We checked out on Monday, today is Thursday and I haven't heard a word. I tried calling him before I wrote this, but alas, he was unavailable. He was "moving his car and I should call back in 30 minutes."
The comforter was absolutely disgusting. The housekeeping not attending to the room was annoying. The AC going out was irritating (but apparently not uncommon from reading some of the other reviews.) The front desk staff was extremely friendly and apologetic. Unfortunately, GM John Murrello has tied their hands and taken away their ability to make adjustments to bills for guests who have problems throughout their stay. However, he never followed through with anything. He never called me, he never tried checking in with us while we were there, he never did anything about the rate I was still charged and he never made sure that my girls and I all left satisfied, happy guests. All of this COULD HAVE been addressed and resolved before we even left. Instead, John chose to disappear and do nothing and left us refusing to even step foot into that hotel again. We're there every single year for this competition, but we will NOT be returning to this mess.
John, you personally dropped the ball on this one. Repeatedly. You don't deserve to have the great staff working for you that consistently and gracefully take the heat for your apathy and neglect. I am disgusted with my stay in your hotel, but much more so in your disregard to the problems going on...
Read moreThis has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Even in run down places i have a better time. I am traveling from North Carolina to Florida and my bus got delayed which resulted in a 24 hr layover. After getting someone to help me find and pay for a room, i walked down to the barclay to check in. The women upfront was very helpful and is pretty much the only positive to this story. I checked in a little after 7:30 am. when entering the room (607) it was muggy and the room had been used recently but one bed was still intact so no bigge ! i figure i can just crank up the air and sort the other part out later because i'm extremely tired. The a/c had no face so i couldn't tell if i was turning it up or down, but it didn't seem to work so i eventually just opted to take off my clothes and rest. Not even a full hour later, i wake up to this extreme burning itch. immediately jump up and run to the shower. the shower didn't help so after my brain kicked in i decided to check the bed, there were bed bugs and really big ones. i snapped a pic of one that was too big to hide. at this point i'm freakiing out because my body is on fire and i'm covered from head to toe with swollen itchy bite marks. i go down to the front desk and the women who checked me in was there. I told her what was going on and she immediately put me in another room, where i was still too scared to even sit down, to wait for their manager and maintenance. i got trash bags for my clothes and other things. got my things and moved rooms. i'm panicking but still trying to be reasonable. i came back down to show her the picture of the bed bug and maintenance was there at the desk. The only thing he even said, "was check the date on the picture". Like dude, I'm covered in bumps that i didn't have an hour ago and the only thing you can think to do is try and disprove the issue? HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE on his part. i asked if the front desk had some Benadryl because this is my first experience with bed bugs and apparently my body doesn't respond well. I had to walk to the store to get some and i took it to try and sooth the reaction i was having. Here is where the biggest issue is for me. The manager never came to my room, i came down and saw what i assumed was the manager and he just walked away. i saw him a second time when i stepped out to get food from the store i got the Benadryl and he still did say anything. It's almost 12 hours since the incident the manager still hasn't attempted to make contact with me at all. i took pictures, i face timed family and friends who also took screenshot, i took pictures of all the marks and swelling and my right arm is still swollen and actually hurts pretty bad. When i arrive in Florida i will be calling their hr department and a lawyer to file a lawsuit. i am traumatized, i feel the need to cut off all my hair because it feels like something is crawling on me and every little thing makes me jump and scratch. i only got a bit of rest because of the Benadryl but I've mostly been sitting here waiting for the manager and constantly looking around to make sure i don't see any bugs. I do not recommend at all. they need new management, and this place needs to be shut down and treated because what i do know is that bed bugs aren't easy to get rid of and spraying chemicals will not help. The mattresses and linens need to be replaced. None of that happened so I'm also alerting the...
Read moreI stayed here for a convention for five days and here are my overall thoughts.
First Things First: The wifi is somewhat slow at times but according to my friends It Wasent an issue I streamed Netflix The breakfast closes at 9:30, but if you're late by a couple minutes you can still get some simple things like toast bread or muffins if you ask nicely Free lemon water in the lounge The walk from the Georgia world Congress centre is only roughly 10-12 minutes despite what google says
Honestly knowing everything I know now I would say I would stay here again. All of my issues that had come up were quickly fixed by staff. My original room had a nice balcony a fridge and just like my second room was missing a microwave, (more on that later). We got in late and the desk reception was friendly, they also worked really well with us and cooperated as our group was flying in from different times. The room was really nice, good sized clean queen beds, and a nice balcony m. But the problems started when we got a room with a less then functioning air conditioning the first night. The first night I just figured that came with the territory so I just used the balcony door, and the fridge to kinda cool the room. But the second night I decided to talk to reception and I have to say front desk reception is top notch, especially Cellii. She's a boss I only have food things to say about her, her and the other female morning receptionist(might be the same person), but she immediately got us a new room on the same floor. At the ending of my trip, I left some stuff in the room, and Cellii quickly called me and facilitated a pickup for them. Lastly, she let me have some extra lemon water for the road which was really nice. My only complaint with the new room is that it dident have a fridge. The breakfast was a highlight it was always fresh with a good variety which made everyday feel unique espicslly for the price I was paying. The bathrooms and rooms were clean and included housekeeping every few days. The rooms were quiet and I couldn't hear any other guests. My only other complaint is that our second room dident have a balcony, or a window view, just a window to a wall. So if that's important to you make sure you let reception know, they are very flexible and responsive. Beds were comfortable too. I split the room with three of my buddies for five nights and it totalled after equal split costs to be 35.34 a night. So this hotel is definitely an amazing choice for...
