Pelons Tex Mex — Restaurant in Austin

I truly hate giving a two star but here we go. We were a large party on a Saturday night. Granted there were only a couple patrons in the restaurant. They seated us in three groups which required three servers. We iterated several times that we would need separate checks and was told no issue. We would close out the main two table and then separate the remaining.

The food was good. Came out quick, was nice and hot, and two of our servers were phenomenal. However the one server that was taking care of our teens had to be asked several times, by our servers to take their orders. We already had our food at the table and they had not even been able to order. Finally they ordered. We were ready to wrap up this is where the preverbal.. you know what hit the fan. Our servers separated our checks and we paid with zero issues. Time came to get the last table paid and this is where the server went off the rails. She insisted that they cannot divide a check up for more then 10 at a table. We explained there were only nine at the table and one had shared an entre with her mother, which had already been paid, and left. Well the server did not care. Said there more then 10. Again we explained there could have never been more then nine … BECAUSE THERE ARE ONLY NINE PLAYERS ON THE TEAM ... that was sitting at the table. The coaches had to explain that there are only nine players .. and this went back and forth. Finally she said it was on the menu that more then 10 they could not split the check. So we pulled the menu. Nothing on the menu said that... so we had to get the manager. The manager on duty was less than thrilled to have us there, and even alluded to that when we say done. She finally said yes we could split the checks... and as the server left she turned around and flipped the whole group of use off!

Sorry for the long review... if you made it this far! That is awesome! The two servers that took care of two of tables were phenomenal and do not deserve to be brought down by one rogue server that...

This was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had. We were the only table when we were first seated on the patio, and it still took our waiter almost 10 minutes to greet us and take our drink orders. It took almost 45 minutes to receive our food after ordering, which would have been acceptable if the restaurant was busy, however at this point we were only one of two tables at the restaurant. Our waiter, DONOVAN, never asked us how our food tasted, and never cleared our plates or glasses as we finished our dishes. We had to ask for to-go boxes THREE times before they were given to us. I spoke to the manager about this unacceptable service and he did not seem to care at all. To make matters worse, it took almost another 20 minutes to receive our checks after we initially asked for them. Once we got out checks, we ended up having to go inside to hand the manager our bills ourselves because our waiter was again no where to be found. The manager then took another 10 minutes to process the payments, seeming unapologetic the whole time. On top of all of this, the manager did not give me the exact amount of change for my cash payment. When I approached him about shorting me, he threw another quarter in my hand and said 'sorry' in a rude way. Let me start off by saying I am an ex employee of this establishment. I had some friends come in from out of town I had suggested this place. Now let me tell you my experience as a customer. The service was horrible my server did not seem to know what she was doing. She took our order in episode did not come back to refill our water after we asked several times for refills I had to actually get up go to the service station and get a pitcher of water myself. I asked to speak to the manager couple times manager never came to my table not once she also dropped or spilled water and a margarita drink on the table next to us, the food was cold not even warm. She had an ugly attitude and when I mentioned I would email the GM she in fact said “Oh ok go right ahead”. Now mind you I been in the service for many years and I would never treat my customers the way she did. I was so embarrassed because I spoke highly of this place to my friends and had the worst experience ever. I had to go to the bar and request small plates spoons and napkins, mind you she was not busy at all to be in the weeds. Will I suggest this place to others. No I will not. I know when I worked there I gave the best service I could to have repeat customers. My food was so cold that I did not even eat it. I sent it back.
