Shame on you for burning my pie! Hoboken Pie had been recommended to me & with the reviews being pretty good I decided to fulfill a starved craving after a long work day. 1st I believe that $26 is a lot of cash for this type of pizza, but in Austin, it average. 2nd I was encouraged to use "the app" which is also common. Then the fun began: I was quoted 13 minutes until my experience was to be ready (did I mention I was starving) by not only the app but also by email, with a receipt (coolness). I made it there in 12 minutes, expecting to wait in line for 5 minutes (based on location, I think it's rare that they're ever slow). I was admiring the display of by-the-slice offerings, combined with the familiar aromas of what I like to call "Street Pizza". I had waited my expected time in line, stomach growling with anticipation & growing starvation, was greeted, in a friendly manner which slowly grew to confusion, by the employee when I tried to explain that I had placed my order, through "the app" & was here to pick it up. I was holding back my panic but was sure this was not going to end well; if you're familiar with these joints, they don't do a huge amount of online, pickup orders at 913pm on a Sunday & considering there was only 1 ticket hanging by the oven, how could that person get confused with the "orders"?! As the employee, joined by another employee, scrambled through their 2 ovens, shifting around a single pizza (it was obviously mine), seemingly in a confused panic, I put myself at ease of the situation because my multitude of years of pizza experience, as I surveyed the situation, assured me that all was good. The employee then informed me that it needed a few more minutes to finish which I thought was no problem (I figured the 13 minute quote was a bit quick). I meandered back to my car, full of tools & equipment from the days work, to make a perfect spot for transportation of my slices of heaven (& to make sure I wasn't ticketed or towed having parked in the 15 minute customer service only). I noticed them boxing my pie, through the window & leisurely strolled back in when I actually looked at the time: it had taken twice as long as I was quoted, 26 minutes to the box? OMG this better be worth it. I gave the employee a cash tip, wrapped my bundle of joy in a blanket, & hurried home. The moment I opened the box my wife exclaimed that it was burned & hadn't they been highly recommended!!?? How can this be? My much anticipated experience ruined? Being the ultimate optimist (& freaking starving) I tried to make the best of it but as you can see by the pic, it was truly burned. After this experience, I do not recommend Hoboken Pie because it's horrible & in 30 minutes, in my own home, for at least 1/3 the price, I can do better... way better.

Stumbling upon Hoboken Pie in Downtown Austin was like discovering a hidden treasure after a long journey! We had just checked into our hotel, famished and weary, when we spotted this unassuming pizza spot. It was exactly what we needed—a place where you could just walk up to the window, grab a whole pizza, and head off to savor it wherever you pleased. We ordered The Butcher, and let me tell you, it was a pleasant surprise! The New Jersey-style pizza was topped with delicious, savory ingredients. However, we also tried the OG cheese bread, and I can't recommend that—it didn't quite hit the mark. But what truly made our visit special was the service. The person helping us was extremely friendly, warm, and welcoming, making it the perfect way to start our Austin trip. If you find yourself hungry and in need of a quick, satisfying meal late at night, do yourself a favor and visit Hoboken Pie.

This place caught my eye before my trip to Austin and I thought, "We'll see how authentic "authentic New Jersey pizza" is in Austin, TX" so I journeyed from 6th Street past 3 hobo skid rows where the entire homeless population of Austin asked me for a cigarette, money or both, to my destination: Hoboken Pies. I'm from NJ and I take pizza personally. It's a small pizzeria with two tables which I dig. The lunch special is pizza by the slice and a combination of salad, knots, salad and a soda (nice touch of "soda" instead of the Texan nomenclature "soft drink" or "Coke"). The slices are cheese, pepperoni and a random pizza. It was spinach and tomato today. They have a huge menu but that is for a whole pizza. It was pretty good. Would Sinatra eat here? No. Should you? Order delivery of a specialty pie. Dine in? You'd be better off at Roppolos.

Poor product quality and service. As a group of four we ordered an appetizer and 4 by the slice and salad. The slices were placed in the oven to reheat and that employee took a smoke break in the front of the store. Upon his casual return he asked if anyone remove the slices from the extra hot oven (apparently it was set extra hot and later turned down for some reason). The manager, Seth, and worker had a conversation about the burnt pizza and he directed him to go ahead a serve us the burnt bottom slices. The worker said, "we went ahead and made these extra crispy for ya!" Our fountain drink dispenser was out and we had to wait to switch out syrup. We went ahead and ate the thin, now "Extra crispy" slices, all the while waiting for our garlic knots appetizers. We finished with the pizza -- it was dried out at this point. Since we were finished eating I approached Seth and asked about the appetizer. He exlained to me that he did not know it was our order and he had split the order to serve to another customer leaving our order short and just then would start baking us more. I expressed my disappoint with our first time visit and Seth said, well, see, i should of had him looking out for our order as this would never happen if he wasn't on break. I told him that he was there, sitting next to us while waiting for our Burning slices. Seth said under his breath, "you can't please everyone..." Btw, the garlic knots were way too salty and hard balls of pizza crusts - half hot and half cold. Unedible! As we walked out we saw the other half order, given to the other customer, thrown on the ground on the side walk. They must have thought the same. If you have very low expectations and you can not find another pizza joint open within an hours drive. Enter at your own risk. We will not be back and do not recommend this place. On a side note: Six Street area has changed and is risky for families, even during daylight hours. Vagrants, pan handlers, beggers, campsites with Tents! We were accosted at every turn. We left extremely...

Hmmmm how do i begin šŸ¤” I will try to be fair, but a 3.9 rating speaks for itself! It is not that the food is horrible, but the service was absolutely terrible, and somewhat rude to a visitor from out of town! My first freaking time to this business, and it went absolutely disastrous. I walked up randomly looking at the menu outside this hole in the wall of a place. A nice girl walks up, and saw me in a gaze, and unsure to what i was wanting to eat...only to direct me to the cheesy bread šŸž i told her she convinced me of the cheesy bread. I went to the counter telling the young guy šŸ‘¦ some lovely girl just convinced me to get the cheesy šŸ§€ bread. The young counter guy replied that it will take 20 minutes to make it. I said that's cool let's do that...only to see others grabbing their food before me maybe 15 minutes later. I eventually got back in line thinking my food was ready only to be met with a rude and disappointing phrase from the young counter guy "that i never placed the order", after i told him i was waiting on my cheesy bread šŸž disappointed šŸ˜ž i told him he blew it and i walked off. He never said like maybe he made a mistake or i just didn't hear you or something to take the responsibility that he blew my order. I walked off and headed across the street buying me a burger šŸ” instead. I complained to the guy about the poor service across the street and this guy apologized in his place of Hoboken Pie's rudeness and lack of commitment to customer service. Thanks for not saving a good customer.. poor service to a first timer coming to this place...
