Usually, I do not review places I go to, but the service at the Slice of Eden restaurant was unnacceptable. Our family was in need of a lunch meal waliing the streets of Bar Harbor, so we visited some restaurants, all of which were closed, other than Slice of Eden, which was open during that time. However, upon entering and finalizing our order, the cashier came up to us and announced that the kitchen had closed, an hour before the posted closing time on the door and on Google. Although they had taken the previous order, we were practically shoved out of the restaurant verbally. Hurt, we had to take our business elsewhere. Though it looked delicious that day, we had to pass on their food because we were not allowed a meal. Compared to the fabulous service elsewhere in Maine, there was not an ounce of kindness in this store that enticed us to even come back. Coming to Maine, we dreamed of a delicious blueberry pie during our trip. However, all of the restaurants made it with eggs, and Slice of Eden was the only one with a Vegan pie. However, upon getting the pie we craved, another terrible service job awaited us. No plates were given to us, so we had to eat on napkins, which ended up staining one of our party's shirts. Also, upon the request to warm the pie up, which had been baked the same morning, we were denied, stating that "it [the pie] was good enough". The same response was given to our request for whipped cream on the side. Turns out, the pie was not as enjoyable as it could have been had our simple requests been granted. Thus, I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant, because any other local business along the streets of Bar Harbor would better deserve a customer's business rather than this place. Maine's loving and warm reception elsewhere need not be tarnished by the rude...

They were so rude to me this morning that I am still upset about it. What did I do, besides be friendly and leave a 25% plus tip to stand at a counter and order? To be honest the bagel sandwich was awful. Doughy, stodgy, undercooked bagel. Small, scant fillings. An utter waste of money. There are wonderful places in town but this place is terrible. But I still wouldn’t have left a review at all, if they weren’t so horribly rude! Thank you for ruining my morning by being so unnecessarily nasty.

Ironically this is not the first time I’ve been here. I was here last with my sister, I ordered a different bagel, my issue was still the same. Ugh. And she ordered a bagel with boursin cheese, there was so little boursin you could barely see it. Yet we said nothing! And I came back! (Granted, only because my favorite place in town had a line already going out the door at 7AM. But still!)

The only reason I am leaving this review is as the woman who “served” me, could very well be the owner. She was older, as normally there are young gals behind the counter. (Who are not particularly friendly, but at least not flat out rude like this woman was!) And why? Because she has to work? Because she has to deal with tourists? Well so do I. She only looked to be at most, 10 -15 years older than me. And I work 10-12 hour shifts a day myself. At 2 jobs. And now I have to go to work, knowing my first hour plus this morning is to pay for horrible food from a...

I am writing to express my disappointment with the service and product I received from Slice of Eden. Despite my initial hopes, my experience was unsatisfactory due to a combination of poor communication and customer service issues.

The lack of timely communication leading up to the event should have been a warning sign. On the day of the scheduled cake pickup, we arrived at the time specified in Slice of Eden's email confirmation (10:00 AM). However, we were met with accusations of arriving too early, despite presenting the email as proof of the agreed-upon time.

While delays are sometimes unavoidable, the manner in which we were treated was unacceptable. Even if the cake had been exceptional, the poor customer service would have overshadowed any positive qualities. Unfortunately, the cake itself did not justify the negative experience. I would advise potential customers to consider these factors before choosing A...

There are not enough words to express how amazing A Slice of Eden was to me and for our small elopement ceremony. We had a short timeframe to plan our wedding (3-4 months), and it was nearly impossible to even have a baker respond to my inquiries. The owners had replied within 48-72h to my online inquiry and had no issues accommodating my requests - they even had so many options for sizing, filling, cake, icing. I sent a picture of a previous birch tree cake they did, and the final product was above and beyond what I even imagined. The cake was the hit of our small reception dinner (people were lined up to take pictures). Words can’t say thank you enough to the owners and staff who worked so hard to make this part of our wedding PERFECT!!!

The name says it all! Their croissants, bagels and rugelach are up there with the best. Come check out their breakfast sandwiches which are made to order(pretty quickly); they're simple but fresh through and through There's some great local Maine coffee served here daily. Expect friendly service here because that's all you'll get. Their seemingly local and well-curated decor only adds to the charm they have here. Fun fact- The town of Bar Harbor was first incorporated in 1796, so the town is only 20 years younger than our country. The original name of the town was Eden, for obvious reasons. Locals still sometimes refer to Bar Harbor as Eden and that's where this little cafe obtained it's name. Sweet, dude! Five stars all day.

The best breakfast sandwich, blueberry scone & fresh brewed iced tea I've ever had! I was lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful afternoon snack at one of the outdoor tables. I ordered the "Western style" egg and cheese with turkey sausage on one of their homemade bagels. It was incredible! I love when a place offers alternatives to pork sausage. They have both vegan and turkey sausage. I had to have something blueberry and noticed that they only had one of their scones left. So I tried that as well... Wow! It was so delicious!!! Their fresh brewed iced tea was seriously good too! We had to take a few more baked goods back to our Airbnb. All of which were yummy. A must stop location when you're visiting Bar Harbor...
