This was a place that I was so excited to try. For years we walked past this place and drove past this place and we were never able to go due to work schedules or the place just being closed or other factors. This evening we finally made it happen. We had a reservation and we showed up and were quite excited to see what this was going to be like. There were open tables, but we literally waited from 7:15 to 7:35 to even be seated. I had this gut feeling that things were not going to get better and that we really should go. I should have listened to this feeling. Our group consisted of a large guy and a lady and a baby in a car carrier, so I can't imagine that they just didn't see us. We did not putz around with ordering, but it was not until 7:50 that we had soup. The soup was okay, but it was too salty. We had a salad that came out at 8:05. The waitresses were tag-teaming our table and not really communicating. This led to four waters being brought out for two people and then us looking around for a long periods of time hoping that either one of them would see us for service. Our first sushi came out at 8:25. The sushi was pretty good, but it was nothing life-changing. After the first plate, the magic of the sushi already started to run out. But, since this was supposed to be all you can eat we needed to do some more. One of the waitresses eventually stopped to speak with us and apologize for the slow service after we pointed it out. They were talking about all the things that they were up against and that this was not a usual night. We were understanding and gave them the benefit of the doubt. We paid our 42 bucks for two people on credit card and left cash for tip. The other waitress who was not the apologetic one came out and actually challenged us on not leaving a gratuity before looking at the cash on the table! This was an epic error of judgment. Holy cow! I believe that this might have been the first time in my life that a waitress has done this. We left a conservative cash tip, but after walking out I really felt that I should have went back and picked it up. This place and this idea has so much potential, but unfortunately it seems that this potential has been squandered. What I might recommend instead of this place is to go to a local store and pick up sushi and go sit at the park by the river or better yet go to State Park or wherever really. I want to see a business like this survive, but there has to be some rethinking of this place for it to...
Read moreI like to try out new places to eat and I looovee sushi, which is how I stumbled upon this place. The first time I went there I got rejected because I had no reservation made in advanced, which was not made clear online, but that’s whatever and I just made one for the next Thursday. So I went there exited to get a lot of sushi and it was terrible. The only good part about the food was the Miso soup which was amazing, the salad tasted like it was drenched in pickle dressing and the sushi was just not good. The rice tastes really low quality and it was way too much per sushi roll, which made the taste of the rice overwhelm the rest of the roll. The fish on the other hand was not better, it was rather chewy and did not taste like it was from good quality. It was all you can eat so I was not expecting the best high quality sushi for 20$ all you can eat but I have been to place costing less with 5x the quality this place has. Even the sushi from Kroger, which is not amazing and not the greatest but it’s whatever if you crave sushi and nothing is open, has better taste than this. The other parts of the sushi were good and it was represented really nice, but the taste of the rice was so overwhelming that you couldn’t enjoy a single pieces of sushi and just wanted stop eating if they wouldn’t charge you 6$ per 8 pieces of sushi that are left ( which is not a bad thing to do, but it was just a torture when you ordered a lot and it’s bad ). The service was good, besides waiting 15 min for the bill ( it was not packed and overflowing at that time ), they refilled the drinks frequently and were nice. The restaurant looks also really nice and has personality, it’s just a shame that the food was not it.
I can only speak for my all you can eat experience and do not know if it’s different going in there on a normal day without all you can eat, but I guess I will never find out because I am not...
Read moreWalked in, it was nowhere near busy, only two of the tables had people and the hostess kicked me out saying the chef was not taking another persons order... Like they wouldnt even let me wait like any other restaurant.... First time I've ever been kicked out of a restaurant and it was because it was 'too busy'... Absolute bs..
Update: I just found out this is a reservation only restaurant (which blows my mind) where some of the users that have left reviews on this place have had to make reservations weeks in advance.... This made me laugh... It's a small sushi restaurant that has seating for like 16 to 20 people... This is not Top Golf, its a small restaurant owned by someone or some people who probably couldnt get hired as real kitchen staff. If they are as popular as they say they are, why dont they have a bigger restaurant with more seating... When they turned me away, I went to another sushi restaurant that had more people than they had when they turned me back and guess what, they seated me instead of turning me away like this joke of a restaurant. And the comments the owners made on some of the negative reviews here made me laugh as they contain spelling and grammar errors... Very unprofessional if you ask me. I really hope the owners do their worst if they...
