I cannot believe the disarray that this place has been sent into. It is honestly ridiculous the way that they treat this beautiful land, the properties within it, and the people who care for it. I came to this campground for a large family reunion. Everyone was so excited to show me the campground that they grew up in. My mom and aunts and uncles and my grandpa and his brother were all telling me for months how excited they were. They shared hundreds of wonderful memories of spending time at Oak Knoll Lodge. Memories of the wonderful owners and the beautiful pool and the friendly community. However, when we arrived, the place was utterly terrible. The cabin that my family was assigned to had not been cleaned at all. The couch was covered in stains of all colors, and the tables had brown liquid spills left on there to rot. My cousinโs pullout couch was covered in rat poop. Rats had destroyed the place. My second cousins had holes chewed in their blankets, my aunt had exclusively spoons and no other utensils, my grandparentsโ cabin smelled like burning plastic. And the worst of it all? The pool was closed for โmaintenanceโ but we were never informed that that would be the case before we arrived. I was informed that some people from another country had bought the property. I do not think that they have been anywhere near this property since they purchased it. No one is living on site and no one is caring for the cabins. My family members attempted to contact the owners of the lodge, but they would not have a proper conversation with anyone in my family. They are unwilling to acknowledge the issues within the campground, and they are unwilling to offer sympathy or discounts of any kind for our stay. Additionally, when we purchased our stay, we were informed that we would get the third night free, but they did not stay true to that. Of everything that I am upset about, I am most upset about the immense disappointment that my family members have gone through. They were looking forward to this trip for a long time, and the issues within the lodge have ruined it for them. ย ย ย Read moreWhen we arrived here, there was no one working at the office. There was a number to call, and we had to travel to a different location in order to check-in. Once we got inside our cabins, we each found mouse droppings throughout our rooms and in the cabinets with our cookware. The bathtub was so filthy that my children did not want to bathe during our stay. One of the couches was covered in...something gross. There was a crusted spilled drink on the nightstand. Some of the beds didn't have any bedding, and there was no one here to get any bedding for us. The pool that we were promised would be open was closed. The lodge which held the ping pong table, shuffleboard, and horseshoes were closed and locked. Many of the sofa beds had mouse droppings in them, so those extra beds were out of the question. We bought a bunch of groceries, only to find out that the fridge was broken the next day, but the freezer worked, so we had to throw away most of our groceries. That's okay, there was only one plate and 35 spoons in the cupboards anyway. ๐ One of the rooms had a screw lying on the ground that we found in one of the children's mouth. Another room had a plastic bag instead of a face plate for an electrical outlet. The wifi was so terrible that when I had to do some work on vacation, I ended up driving to the Starbucks to use theirs. ย ย ย Read moreFor our Anniversary, we rented the cabin with a hot tub as well as a stove for cooking for Labor Day weekend. Upon check-in, the stove did not work, nor did the hot water. It took nearly 2 hours for maintenance to be dispatched to address the issues. Gas was restored for the stove, and we were told to give the hot water about 30-60 minutes to heat up. We called the office when the hot water was not restored. They said that they would send someone that night or early morning to fix it. This did not happen, so I called the office again the next day at 10am. They stated that it should have been worked on, but it wasn't. I asked the Front Desk Manager, David, to be compensated for the day we lost without hot water. The best he said he could do was 20% off. I felt that to be unacceptable, considering we got the cabin with the hot tub and were not able to utilize it, nor take showers. He said it was either 20% off or I could get a full refund, however, we would have to leave, which was a day earlier than booked. So we decided to leave. I will never return to any property owned by this company. Management was not accommodating. They lack follow-up or follow through, and they make it appear burdensome to have issues fixed.
