I usually do not write negative reviews but this experience was traumatic and the way the salon handled it was even worse. I came in almost two years ago and my hair is still recovering from the damage. I came in for a "money piece" and left with fried and brittle hair all over. Do not go to this salon, unless you want your hair fried instead of getting properly colored.
I am posting the photos of the after result that the "experienced colorist" of 30 years let me walk out with and personally took herself. I am also posting photos I took in different lighting the following day. I told her before I left, how dissatisfied I was, and her response was that "you are not used to color". After my friends saw me later that day they wondered if I used box dye on myself and it went terribly wrong ... I explained to them that I went to a "high end" salon in Boston. They were shocked this was the work that was done and what they let their clients walk out with.
To make it worse, the day after they got me in to fix this, they said I could only have it fixed by the colorist who butchered my hair to begin with, which was severely traumatizing. I asked if at-least someone else could watch over while she tried to fix it and I was again told no. As I was in a bind, I accepted and during the consult the colorist had the audacity to ask what I did not like about it and tried to gaslight me multiple times. As if I was just a whiney client.
They refused to refund me, and they spent the second appt getting my hair back to a somewhat natural shade, which is impossible with this kind of damage. After about a month of complaining to them about what the stylist did, they offered me two haircuts, a deep conditioning treatment, and a couple bottles of shampoo for my trouble. Nothing more, as if they did me a favor for butchering my hair.
Summary: do not trust the colorists in this salon and the front desk is even less helpful. * I'd also like to note that I shared these photos with the front desk along with seeing me in person, yet things were still handled...
Read moreI’m aware that Mario Russo is a salon of well-trained stylists and it was even recommended to me by my mother, who has curly hair herself, though it’s much more fine than my own. I had an appointment to have my 3c type hair blown out and flat ironed a couple months ago, and unfortunately it was not a good experience. I believe my stylist’s name was Violet. As soon as I got in the chair, it was clear to me that the stylist was not equipped to work with hair such as my own, as she immediately started brushing my hair out while partially dry and was making no effort to prevent breakage or protect the curls. I felt like a dog at the groomer’s with the way she was using the brush to pull at my hair any which way from the roots/surface, rather than working upward from the ends. She then barely blew it out and even attempted to use the flat iron while it was still damp/partially curly in multiple areas, which is when I stopped her and asked her to go back in with the blow dryer. She seemed offended by this request and by my other questions/explanations regarding how to work with my hair. I’m very skilled at blowing out my own hair but wanted the ease of having someone else do it for me that day, so I was confident in what I was talking about. In the end, my hair was still very puffy and I left feeling quite terrible about my hair, the style, and the customer service experience as a whole. If you’re going to market yourself as a salon that can work with all, then make sure that your stylists are well-trained with all hair types or at least are able to handle critiques/pointers from guests who know their own hair. Would not reccomend that curly-haired people visit this salon until they attain stylists who can work with more...
Read moreMy first experience there was with hairstylist Renee, she did my hair color, it was wonderful! She was very nice, patient, and caring to her clients, and she would communicate with me so well. It was all great at the end! The second time I went to Salon Mario Russo, Monica was doing my roots. It was not as good as I expected. The hair came off week, I can’t even use comb to comb my hair and the roots color was darker than the rest of my hair color and her service was awful tower the end. She see that I was not happy with the hair, but she said “I think it look great” and then she was off to do other customers’s hair. It made me feel like my opinion was not important. I asked her to come, through other people for like 2 times. She did not come or respond at all. I waited there for like 30 more minutes. I started noticing that my time was not respected anymore. I know I was a little late for 30 minutes for the appointment at the beginning for certain reasons, but if she’s not happy with me being late she can refuse to do my hair or reschedule. Instead she use it as a reason to against me and not respect my time, and yelling at me at the end. I complain it to the front desk, she came to tell her co-workers that I was trying to avoid the payment with more yelling. I felt so humiliated and insulted in...
