The front desk clerk was super nice and helpful at my check in. Even at 11PM, she was great. My room was stocked and straight. For the most part, clean. I dropped something by the toilet and when I bent over to pick it up, the black mold just beneath the inner toilet bowl was something the roadside cheap motels would envy. They definitely have some science growing in there and need to do just a bit deeper cleaning. A lot of the decos and non-use surfaces Had more dust on them than I would be accustomed to in a Holiday Inn. The ceiling in a couple of areas was bubbling up from what I guess is water damage. In the bathroom sink also there was some mold where the counter meets the sink. They do need to clean a bit better if you ask my opinion. The hotel was quiet and there were a lot of cars outside, so I’m sure they were busy. I heard multiple people from different tables in the breakfast room In the morning, complaining about cold showers, however, I showered at night and did not experience this. I went down to breakfast at around 7 AM and one of the coffee pots was empty and the other one was barely above room temperature and tasted like cardboard. Usually, Holiday Inn has pretty good house coffee so this was a surprise. When someone asked one of the workers if there was more coffee, she said yes, and took the empty pot brought it back and was down there at least 30 minutes. Not sure what happened to the hot coffee that none of us ever got nor her! The pancakes out of their automatic, pancake maker were absolutely horrible. While the breakfast was hot, there was zero flavor and again unusual for a Holiday Inn. I also heard some people talking about visiting here once a year and they always stay here, and they usually don’t have this type of experience. While it met the minimum expectations of a hotel, I have come to expect better from Holiday Inn and most likely will not return to this hotel next time...
Read moreThe staff were incredibly kind and easy to talk to, and I had no issue approaching any of them with whatever problems arose during my stay. The staff and their cleanliness and politeness were impeccable- but I truly feel that this hotel should start enforcing a Quiet Hours policy of some kind because of inconsiderate and loud guests that we experienced during our stay.
Toward the middle of our stay we experienced our sleep being interrupted because of a child being allowed to run down the hall screaming at the top of their lungs at almost midnight. The family did not do anything about their child and we had to call hotel staff to have them be told to control their child and keep the noise down. My husband and I were trying to sleep and were woken up by this child and their loud family. This happened for two nights. We were, however, compensated for those two nights and received profuse apologies and were satisfied with the solution the hotel reached for us.
Another event with a very large family happened and they continued to talk loudly in the hallway in groups. One person would stand directly outside of our room talking loudly on his cell phone, and my husband had to confront this guest and tell them to stop. Hotel staff handled any situation we asked them to handle with flying colors, but the other guests really put a damper on our stay. Unless Quiet Hours are enforced we are heavily reconsidering staying at this hotel again because we wanted a peaceful and quiet getaway and instead were woken up and disturbed several times by other people who should know better.
If you plan on staying at this hotel, know that it's a wonderful experience for staff, cleanliness, and comfort, but beware of other people staying in this area. Whether or not they are from Brandon/Tampa, I've noticed a lot of people here only think about themselves and don't consider other people are staying in...
Read moreWe really liked our stay at this property. We were her for the Cat Fancy Cat Show in Tampa infront of Lowry Zoo. Great location (Brandon is - 10 mins from Hard Rock Tampa), very near on/off ramps to I-75, lots of restaurants and fast food choices, near Costco (2 miles) and less than 5 mins from Westfield Mall.
Property very clean and maintained.
Room was excellent, bathroom was completely remodeled. Hot breakfast was great, lots of choices and well maintained. Daily free Cookies (delicious), daily free USA Today in lobby. Very nice & professional staff throughout. Outside courtyard was nice and relaxing (did not use pool but it looked nice also)
Sadly the beautiful peacock Fancy passed away (there is a memorial plaque outside in his honor) but there are lots of ducks and many squirrels running along the trees and near the lake.
This property allows pets for a daily extra deposit which you are asked about at check-in. We did see two dogs there and their owners were very considerate and ate outside in the courtyard seating so no big deal.
Only comments are: a bathrobe hook in the bathroom woud be appreciated to hang clothes whie showering/bathing (there are three hooks that look like decoration but are next to the TV?!) No daily room servicing but we asked the front desk for fresh towels in the evening and were give a whole set. Also, the shower/tub faucet was not user friendly, perhaps a sign on how to turn it on?
We highly recommend this location if going to the nearby Hard Rock or for a concert. It is a little far away from the attractions though. Great value for the...
