To start, I don't know how they have so many 5 star reviews, people must be blinded by the ocean views or something. Me and my family stayed here in August 2024, in the King/Queen suite with a kitchen, 3rd floor.
CONS: The outside of the hotel reminds me of a motel, super narrow halls, dirty carpet lines the outside walkways. Some of the luggage carts don't have wheel locks so unfortunately my husband had to chase one down their extremely steep driveway. They have ADA accessible rooms but no way for wheelchair/strollers to access the beach, we were told to drive down to the public access quite a ways down the road, or walk down the very steep driveway (with no sidewalks). The couch was dirty with what I hope was chocolate. It was pushed up against the table so when my toddler sat back on the back rest, she slammed her head into the corner of the table, very weird spot for a couch. No room service, no food (unless you want to pay extra). Hot and muggy in the rooms, no AC, they did provide a few box fans in the closets but unfortunately that only does so much. I am going to guess that they don't come clean your room and give you towels without asking or something because they never came. We took out our own trash everyday (which is fine but it should be said somewhere that's our responsibility), for the price of the room, it lacked a LOT of amenities/services/aesthetic, a couple hundred more and you can stay in the Venetian in Las Vegas in a 1,000+ sq ft hotel room that makes you feel like a Queen. The vending machine across from 332 just so happen to not be able to read any of our cards so we had to buy drinks from the lobby, which just so happen to be a dollar more than the vending machine's. It left a lot to be desired. The dryer didn't dry my clothes (medium to small load, yes I emptied the lint before and after)
PROS: The staff was nice, complimentary laundry (DIY), the lobby did have some fun snacks, great views from our room, parking seemed sufficient, chairs available at the beach to grab and use, the updated room was aesthetically pleasing, it was nice to have a full kitchen with 2 kids while breastfeeding. Non-slip mat for the tub was an unexpected plus. Provided a broom/dustpan in the room. Great tv selection, plus a DVD player. Tvs in all 3 rooms. Close to many restaurants. The beds were actually comfortable, as well as the pillows (generally hotels never have comfortable pillows or beds)
The owners should highly consider adding in a ramp for their ADA rooms, for beach access, I saw a landing on the bottom right of the hotel from the beach side, and it looks like they can connect a ramp right to that section and make it come down just like the large staircase they have on the left side.
Overall not family friendly if you have stroller age children and not disability friendly if you have mobility issues.
Having ADA rooms doesn't mean the hotel is ADA friendly.
Overall, I would not book here again, the lady who sold me on this hotel sure made it sound GRAND and I was left very disappointed for the astronomical price we paid. Must be tourist pricing. The only thing that made it worth it,...
Read moreThis resort was the ideal location! The rooms are small but had all the necessary elements... exceptionally clean, large TV, fridge, microwave, desk chair, table + chairs, deck chairs, comfy bed, bathroom with counter space, closet. The VIEW was incredible, Haystack rock right in front of us, views of the beautiful cove that makes Cannon Beach so spectacular. A strong recommendation for the hotel is to make the balcony divider more private and secure between "neighbors". Perhaps, put a sliding window that can be locked (so if next to family or friends and want to fraternize) or plexiglass between the shared balcony as there's a lack of privacy on the balcony if you're not rooming next to your friends or family. The balcony opening is also a security risk because someone can easily climb through the opening between the balconies, so we locked our balcony sliding door each time we left the room.
The town of Cannon Beach does an amazing job of making tourists feel safe and secure. They are very environmentally conscious in that there was not a piece of litter in sight, not anywhere we walked! This town takes cleanliness seriously. We roamed many of the neighborhood streets and it appears 99% of the residents take it seriously too. The restaurants were universally friendly and clean.
If you're looking for a beautiful place to go with a clean town, no graffiti, walking distance to food, shops, hiking, and the beach, Cannon Beach is it and the Hallmark is a great base camp to explore it! They have a staircase to the beach and a staircase to the shops and restaurants. They offer complimentary bicycles (with locks), bottles of water, and more! Though covid put a ding in the normal room service, they did their best to accommodate. The tiny narrow halls are a bit dark but once in the room, if have an ocean view, it makes up for it. And the staff, though very busy, make sure guest needs are #1 priority. The location is 5 stars! You can walk to breakfast (recommend Lazy Susan Cafe, family-run, locally sourced and organic, delicious and friendly... Pig n' Pancake not very good... too generic). (Stay away from Tom's... terrible food even though manager is very friendly... sorry!) Anyway, I'd want to live here year-round except for the weather, though we hit major sunshine and felt so lucky. If this town's weather was more temperate, it'd probably be over-run. Kudos to the city management, law enforcement, and residents who clearly put safety, cleanliness and beauty as top priorities...
Read moreBest family vacation spot ever! On the way home, I rated our vacation 4.7, kid 1 rated 4.5 and kid 2 rated 4.6. this was literally the best vacation we have had as a family and a huge part of the credit, most of the credit, goes to the Hallmark resort. We stayed in a two-bedroom partial view suite with kitchen. First, the partial view is really a gorgeous pretty full view of the ocean, the lighthouse, and the shoreline from our second floor balcony. The suite had two bedrooms shotgun style with huge beds, tvs, and DVD players in the rooms. One room had a separate entrance into exit and bathroom, and there's also a main bathroom with a split sink. The kitchen was perfect, with a full stove and burners, plenty of pots pans and utensils, a full fridge with freezer, and a little mini dishwasher that we ran everyday. The living room had an easy-to-use gas fireplace, a super cool fold-down bed, and a couch on wheels that you can move out of the way to fold down the bed. We brought a Google assistant device, and had no trouble plugging it in and connecting it to the free Wi-Fi through the home app. There was plenty of space for me to work and the kids to do online school in the rooms and the kids loved all the details. The space felt like an Airbnb instead of a hotel, but also included an awesome pool with two Jacuzzis, a sauna that wasn't open, and a fitness center. There's coin operated laundry in the pool building, and beach chairs and other Beach equipment available for use by guests. We were super happy to go down every day at 5:00pm for fresh baked cookies and salt water taffy, and borrowed Blu-ray DVDs from the front desk to watch on our three tvs. We learned on the second night that you can access and log into Netflix Hulu and prime etc from the Blu-ray player menu. Having the beach access straight from the hotel made it so easy to just go for short trips down to the beach, which for my kiddo on the spectrum made it much less daunting. Having a home base to come back to made everything easier. The resort is easy walking distance to downtown Cannon Beach with galleries, restaurants, and shops. We didn't get a s'mores kit ($25) or bonfire bundle ($8), but loved having the option to get those right from the hotel lobby. The staff were super sweet, and helpful, and on the drive home, we talked about how three nights just wasn't long enough, and we need to book a five night stay for next time. Thank you so much for an...
