One of the unique places to eat in Cannon Beach with a hardware store and public house. I reviewed the menu after a short wait for table and ordered a halibut burger with tater tots. The menu has appetizers, salads, burgers, and sandwich entrees such as black bean, chicken, meatloaf with fish and chip options. The entrees are served with potato chips that can be upgraded to a number of options including fries, tater tots, and salad. I received my order in about fifteen minutes with a nice amount of tater tots. The grilled halibut was served on a bun without sauce and it had good taste to it. The tater tots were crispy and not greasy. Located in Midtown Cannon Beach on South Hemlock Street next to Sleepy Monk Coffee and the public parking lot. A nice place to stop for lunch with a number of options such as pastrami, and Buffalo Chicken, beer and wine with friendly service in a hardware setting.

What an interesting Cannon Beach icon! About 10 years ago it opened as a predominately hard ware store with a 2 tap-beer counter and a small TV tuned into the few sports channels available on cheap cable. The hardware items sold slowly while the beer sales were popular. Over the years, the owners saw that TV sports viewers abounded in Cannon Beach. So, they started removing hardware shelves and replacing them with tables where patrons could drink more beer along with burgers. They expanded upstairs, adding even more beer taps, tables, larger menu, and more TVs. Now, the place advertises itself as the "Screw and Brew" joint. The menu is quite good, as is its food; their salads are scrumptious. Its popularity now is based on the pub portion. Lines are short, which helps those who don't want to wait in line for 30 minutes at the Pelican Brew Pub only 1 block to the south.

Unique setting.. hardware store turned into restaurant . 5 stars for food.. the customer service was a bit weird. It felt a little bit rushed. We were sat 5 steps away from the bathroom which isn’t really ideal when you’re trying to enjoy your meal. There was no wait and three other tables free and available. The gentleman who was serving us put the receipt on the table halfway through our meal and reminded us twice to put a card down and sign the receipt .. again there was nobody waiting and no lunch rush - overall weird customer service experience but the food was absolutely delicious. Halibut, fish, sticks, and halibut brioche burger were amazing.

As with all resort eateries they are overpriced and underwhelming and typically serve tiny portions at big prices. Screw and Brew is actually a hardware store which our friends who live in or have second homes in Cannon Beach actually use quite a lot. It is also a restaurant which has a diverse menu and serves big portions, but still at the big prices but compared to the other eateries its the place to go if you want to eat in the sun on a picnic table in a parking lot ... hot bright dog friendly ... its very casual and summery feeling. Wait staff was attentive and drinks were delivered quickly and food was brought out with minimal wait time. The problem was that everything was fried and dripping in oil .. fried fish was nearly 3x the portion we received at Doogers and super fresh meat texture but the breading was super saturated on oil ... so much that after one piece we removed the breading from the other two pieces and had to wrap them in napkins before eating, buffalo chicken sandwich was haauuge and good but again dripping in oil, calamari was inedible it was so greasy .. there was literally 1/8 of standing fryer oil in the bottom of the bowl they were served in, reuban sandwiches bread was saturated in oil ... corn chowder wasnot very good .. really floury... beers and ciders on tap were good and sodas were typical pepsi products. All in all, the 8 of us enjoyed each other but collectively we all took a year off our lives but eating this $250 dinner. RECOMMENDED with...

My Wife and I went to Cannon Beach to celebrate our 29th anniversary, unfortunately she took ill late in the afternoon. The clerk at the hotel called all over the area to find some soup that wasn't too heavy, but with no luck. I went to the market and got some canned chicken noodle and crackers in case my wife felt like eating. I was hungry after nursing my wife and went to the Hardware Store and Public House to get me something to go. I was told they had amazing fish and they also had great burgers. This sounded good and it was across from the market I had just left, I was walking so being close was good too. I was the only one in line and waited about 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was even there, then a few more minutes goes by and I was asked if it was a party of one. I replied no and explained about my wife being sick in our hotel and if they did orders to go. He said they did, but had no time for that tonight and for me to go somewhere else. I was shocked to say the least. I could understand having to wait a while longer, but really how much of an inconvenience is it to prepare a to go order vs. a dine in order? This place must have more patrons that they know what to do with to insult and send away customers who will never go back. If this place has any association with or is part of the Public House chain this place in Cannon Beach is giving the...

From the start on entering this place the service was awful. Our waitress was not friendly us at all, didn’t explain any of the specials or what was on tap (but did for others that came in). Gave us water but didn’t ask if we wanted anything else.

My wife got the Ecola burger. She said it was fine.

Kids shared the chicken strips (that seemed to annoy the waitress)

I got the special “smoked” bbq beef sandwich. There was nothing smoked about this. The bbq sauce was sour. And the meat didn’t even appear cooked or smoked. No smoke ring nothing. Not even a hint of being actually smoked. The chef really went ham on the salt with the chips, but put next to nothing on the fries.

Didn’t even finish the sand which. It had a horrid taste.

When the food arrived the waitress just dropped it on the table. It was like she didn’t even want to serve us.

When it was time to pay. The hostess passed me 5 times while I stood at the debit machine. The waitress saw me just standing there and the bar tender gave me a couple looks. No one thought to help us end our service. I stood there for 10 minutes. It was not that busy.

Was a very disappointing...
