We really do not want to write a bad review—we recognize how lovely this cottage is and how close to the beach and the town it is. But we had a tremendously stressful and brief stay here recently. We arrived and after about an hour, the smoke detector in the bedroom started beeping. This is typically a sign of a dying battery, so my husband eventually took out the battery. If it had just been the two of us, we probably wouldn’t have said anything, but our dog was with us, and he is a very anxious pup. The noise from the smoke detector sent him into a tizzy and he was so scared and nervous after the first few beeps (which is when we took the battery out). We called Vacasa and were on hold for a half an hour (understandable, as we know Covid has limited the staffing and capacity of a lot of businesses). We reported the issue, and about an hour later, someone texted us, asking if we needed a new battery for the smoke detector. This person said he lived about an hour away and could come change it for us. It was getting pretty late and we were exhausted, so we declined, but he reassured us the beeping would cease. It did, and we were relieved. We all got ready for bed and settled in, happy to see our dog eventually calming down. Just as we were about to fall asleep, the carbon monoxide detector started wailing. We panicked, as that is never a good alarm to go off. We frantically gathered our dog and our belongings and left. We no longer felt safe there, and it was clear that Vacasa had not been keeping track of the batteries in the smoke detectors, nor do they have a handle on the gas fireplace that was setting off the carbon monoxide detector. We were in contact with Molly, a representative with Vacasa, who was pretty responsive and we know it wasn’t her fault that these things kept happening. But this was the last straw. We did not feel safe staying there if there was any gas leak leading to the carbon monoxide detector going off. So, in the middle of the night, we found a hotel in town to check in to. We messaged Molly, requesting a full refund, as we were not going to be staying there and were so disappointed with the lack of care in the upkeep of the safety features of the property. She told us we would be hearing from the local property manager within 24-48 hours. It’s now been five days, and we haven’t heard anything back.
I have read a lot of the reviews about this property, and they are overwhelmingly positive. It is a beautiful place and was going to be an ideal getaway for us, but it just did not feel safe.
I hope Vacasa can fix this issue and re-examine their safety protocols as soon...
Read moreAn absolute joke. I booked this hotel in off season for the good price and location. Initially, when we checked in, we didn’t really go look around because we were so tired and hungry and got in late. The futon was ripped up and stitched back up in a very cheap looking fashion, which was a little concerning, but I brushed it off. Fast forward my boyfriend goes and takes a shower comes out and tells me there’s still soap and other bathroom products from the previous tenants in the shower. Right at that moment, my dog started sniffing under the sink in the bathroom and I noticed some type of bait left out for what I assume would be bugs or mice under the sink? I found long black hairs on the bed and in the bathroom. I have short blonde hair, so definitely not mine. I ended up letting the property manager know and had to find a new place to sleep at that night. I requested a refund and it has been 48 hours and I have not heard anything back about a refund and had to dispute with my bank. That is insane that I left the property and I sent the property manager pictures and let them know that I was leaving the property that night and I was never offered an immediate refund as the text shows nor have they sense. I sincerely hope that the property manager gets fired and so do the cleaning people. Lastly, the locks and doors don’t work / don’t close. We couldn’t get the code to work in the door and found a key box that the key just fell out of lol or else we wouldn’t of been able to get in. Our heat didn’t work well and it looked like the wall in the bathroom had water damage. The outlets also need to be upgraded our electronics fell out and wouldn’t stay plugged in. This place just needs a really good deep clean, new furniture, new outlets and some paint and new management/ cleaning crew and I would be great. I’m so sad because the location was great — but beware do...
Read moreYour experience may vary depending of which cabin you choose. They are all the same but they do not have the same problem. For us, the floor was straight which is not the case on others. Our mattress was dead. Some one less than 110 pounds could make the mattress fall of half its height. The paint is also patched everywhere. Nevertheless, for the price you pay you have an excellent service from Vacasa which manage the place. I think the problem is more about the owner that do not invest much on the promise. We had one ants issue which we call around 17h00 and they were there 30min after, pretty fast. The location is great. You do not have a front view to the beach but it really takes less than 5 minutes to access the sand. You are also very near of the big rock which is spectacular. I recommend the place if you are 2 people or 2 with 1 child but not more. It is very cosy and we had hard time to place a pack and play next to our bed for our toddler. The kitchen doesn't have much countertops so do not expect to be able to do much. However, the place has some basic utensils, plates and pans. We stayed 6 days, their is no washing machine so even if they provide basic towels you may want to bring some of your own. Love the inner garden with the fountain which is a great background noise. We choose this place because we didn't want to be in a big motel and we do not regret our choice in regard of the price and location. We saw many other places around which look a lot...
