If you have a teardrop or other tiny trailer, I would avoid this RV park - beware of strict “no tent” policy which includes pop-up or galley shelters that are commonly used with tiny trailers for element shelter or changing areas. Basically anything with a floor is not allowed.
I Booked an 8 day stay mid April roughly 5-6 weeks prior for myself and my two corgis via phone. I booked this reservation knowing full well that they require a 1 month notice for cancellations but was not aware of their strict no tent policy. It ended up being really gross weather the week of my reservation, but a little rain doesn’t usually bother me and I prepared by bringing my ARB awning room so I could have a changing space, the ability to shelter from the elements and a way to dry off the dogs before hopping into bed.
After driving 150 miles and checking in, I was surprised to learn there was a strict no tent policy, which meant I was unable to use my awning room. No exceptions. Major bummer, but okay - poor planning on my part. Well, 3 days into the stay, my site (#35) flooded due to inclement weather and poor drainage of the park. Literally water everywhere, and because I have low-riding dogs and no way to shelter from the rain, they’re wet, the bed is wet and everything is wet. After asking they did offer to relocate me to one of 3 available sites, and although the drainage was better there was still a lot of standing water and everything was already sopping wet, so I chose to forfeit the remaining 5 days of my reservation and went home early.
I’m providing this particular rating based on my experience of the park with my allowed equipment and the weather conditions. The park staff was consistent and accommodated me to the best of their ability within the limits of their policy (which is why I’m rating 2 stars instead of 1). I just wouldn’t recommend this park to tiny trailers or teardrops and likely won’t likely be staying here again due to the negative experience.
If I knew the no tent polity I would NOT have booked at this particular RV park during the rainy season.
Added note: good water pressure, power, sewer hookups. Sink inside lobby for washing dishes (I have no grey or black water tank). The showers ran hot, bathrooms were okay. I did not use the pool house. Free WiFi, but poor signal on the far side of the park and limited cellular connection. If you have a big rig, great park - but not recommended for the...
Read moreThere were many nice things about this park including what lots of folks mention like clean park, nice staff, short walk to the beach. The only time I tried to use the bathroom was apparently when it was closed? It was a few minutes before 8 am. What was really a problem and not right in my opinion was that I paid for Wifi and expected to have use of it but never could connect. The staff said there were too many people using it so that's why I couldn't connect. I tried over and over, 6 am, 10 pm, still couldn't get on it. I can't believe there isn't a discount or consideration or a disclosure that at times when the park if really full, this happens...I had to keep driving into town and sitting at a restaurant to get WiFi. It also would have been helpful to have a disclosure that the cell phone service is minimal at the park as well...took a LONG time for text messages to go through and couldn't search anything on my phone. I don't mind camping when I expect these things to happen but I was expecting to be able to use WiFi and my phone so it was really annoying to have these issues without prior warning or compensation. I can also see why spot 42 was still available at this time of year-I sat in a puddle the whole time because it's downhill from the spots above and their leaky hose and outdoor washing ran right down into the area outside my trailer door. By the time I figured out where all the water was coming from it was almost time to leave. This is probably a very nice place to stay off season and with knowledge of what your particular spot will be like but my stay was...
Read moreLast year, 2023, they messed up and overbooked their spots and we lost ours even after booking a year in advance. They crammed us into an undesirable spot on the day of our reservation they supposedly had no record of and claimed someone must have cancelled our reservation (which nobody did and good thing I had my confirmation email). This year 2024 we got what we booked for, however after already booking for next year 2025 and paying the deposit (for a 9 night stay starting Saturday August 30, 2025 because I have a full time job and cannot easily be here on a Friday night) they call me on Monday 9/2 to say they cannot honor any reservation of 3 or more days on a holiday weekend unless it’s booked to start on a Friday night). Like WTH?! That was not mentioned to us and if it’s a thing they need to train their staff properly). We will not be booking anymore reservations with this park after having camped here for several years. No honor as they should reveal that information ahead of time. This trip is in honor of not only our wedding anniversary but also our late son who was only 3 days old at the time of his passing. Cannon Beach as an area holds a place in our heart and RV Resort of Cannon Beach management who, rather than save the reservation, agreed to cancellation of it when I said we would probably be cancelling due to the lack of information, will be responsible in the loss of one less long time...
