Absolutely have fallen in love with this place! I never even knew it existed until recently. I have stayed in the Coronado, Capistrano, Newport and Carlsbad rooms. They each have their own unique characteristics and charm. All of them have been extremely comfortable and clean, however I would have to say I think my favorite leans to being the Coronado! With a spa bath - who wouldn’t want to enjoy a nice, relaxing bath to wind down and de-stress! The management has been amazing at assisting me with honoring pricing from a 3rd party to book directly with the property. It’s super easy and fast and I only have to provide the price match information and credit card info and the rest is handled for me 🙂 Beds have been beyond comfortable in every room I’ve stayed in and have had no issues whatsoever. Extra toiletries, towels, etc are available in the utility room should you need any additional during your stay. The person who takes care of the rooms is very nice and polite and friendly! I would highly recommend this place to anyone - whether you’re looking for the perfect vacation spot, or if you just need to get away for a staycation. It’s conveniently located near the village and in walking distance from several restaurants/eateries/bars/wine bars/shops/etc. they also have everything you could need if you’re wanting to head to the beach for the day - and only a block or two away from the beach, so it’s definitely walking distance! There are granola and nutri - grain bars provided in the lobby each morning, along with your choice of coffee, or tea. The lobby has a cute sitting area as well! This place is such a gem and feels high scale, but without being outrageously overpriced. If you’re all about that party life, this is not the place for you! LoL I will definitely be staying here more in the near future. Thank you Pelican Cove Inn for everything and making this place so amazing! I look forward to my next...
Read moreI booked literally the morning that I decided to visit Carlsbad. And this is during high season, so I was lucky to even get a room at a decent place near Carlsbad Village.|Normally, I’m a little hesitant to do these “self-serve“ check-in places, but the information was clear, I got to the place and into my room without a hitch. It took me a minute to figure out how to lock the door when I went out (it’s a keyless place), I don’t remember if that specifically was covered (probably was, I may have just missed it). ||No surprises, room was clean, not Four Seasons clean, but still clean and perfectly fine. Probably cleaner than your house! |Internet was easy, and it worked flawlessly. ||There was soap, towels, even two bottles of water. The water worked, it was hot, the toilet worked. ||The location is great, Walking distance to maybe the only two things Carlsbad has to offer - nice beach and LOTS of coffee shops! Perfect for people like me, who don’t like to actually do anything on vacation but have coffee and go to the beach! ||I probably had the “worst”room (Capistrano), and that’s only because it was on the first floor, nearest the street and the Utility Room. But, unless you’re extremely sensitive to slight noise, it was completely fine! ||There’s no AC, but it was perfectly fine. You’re near the beach, there’s a good breeze, ceiling fans, and window fans. I literally only needed the ceiling fan, and not even all the time. You’d have to be a penguin to be uncomfortable. ||Checking out was even easier than checking in: I walked out my door and into a car. ||All in all, it served the purpose of a chill place but well kept and functional. Completely...
Read moreGreat bed and breakfast in Carlsbad. Been going to Carlsbad every summer but one for the last 25 years, love this beach town. Got to stay here at the Pelican Cove Inn with my wife and our 4 kids. Had 2 rooms next to each other (La Jolla and Del Mar I think). The rooms are very nice and comfy. Have a nice beach, almost antique feel to them. Comfortable beds, even the pullout in the Del Mar that our kids slept in was comfy, never seen that nice of a pullout. The La Jolla was especially nice, being a corner room with many windows, nicely decorated, with a fireplace (in both rooms) and a nice window bench. Even had a jetted tub in the bathroom of the La Jolla.
Nancy, the owner-operator, is great. Her breakfasts are yummy and she is very accommodating to different diet preferences and needs. There are often cookies or other goodies in the main room to enjoy as well.
The beach is only a block or so away, as well as the main part of Carlsbad with plenty of places to eat, shop, etc. Beach stuff is offered for your use (towels, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, even some sand toys).
Overall a very nice place to stay. Best suited for a romantic getaway, or an older family. Worked fine for our family with young kids (8 years old down to 11 months old), but it is not a child centric place to stay.
Definitely recommend...
