I stayed here for a single night during my drive from visiting family in New Jersey back home to New Orleans and I wish I could have stayed at least a week!
I’ve never been to Chattanooga nor have I really much experience with Tennessee in general but I’ve always been curious so when my original itinerary plans changed, I saw this as an opportunity to get a little vignette of the city on my way down.
I knew I’d only be in town for about 16 hours after a long day on the road. I needed somewhere to rest that could give me a little dose of everything: a vibe-check, if you will.
Enter The Hotel Chalet.
I booked a room through my credit card’s points system—something I’ve admittedly had trouble with in the past where hotels didn’t have my booking so I’m always a bit worried when I use it. I called the day before my reservation and the person at the front desk (whose name I don’t remember, I’m sorry! You are fantastic though!) was so kind and even sent me a confirmation of my reservation from the hotel.
When I arrived the following day, after a teensy bit under twelve hours sitting in one position with only two stops, the women at the front desk were sweet, informative, and efficient. I went back out to grab my bags from the car and the man at the door (didn’t get any of these names I’m so sorry, y’all! I appreciate you!) offered to help but I declined because I had parked further away and socializing effectively was becoming more difficult.
I got to the immaculate room on the second floor and was delighted by the details. The hotel is on Choo Choo Avenue and even offers rooms in old train cars but the rooms in the main building are also modeled after vintage, luxury passenger cabins—think gold fixtures, mosaic tile, and velvet drapes. There are even old school, cozy, cotton robes in the closet made to look like cabin doors. I mean, the DETAILS. I won’t ever be over it honestly.
I ordered dinner from Elsie’s Daughter and took the quick stroll to pick it up and bring back to my room. I couldn’t remember where the women at the front desk said the restaurant was so I went to them to ask but they were busy with a few people in line. So I resigned to wait when a woman approached me who had been sitting at the cafe bar in the lobby and asked if she could help. Turns out she’s the concierge! She pointed the way and off I went. The hotel offers 20% off if you charge to your room, which I did. Again, everyone was so kind! I settled back in the room and realized I forgot silverware. Back downstairs, the concierge came up to me again and she grabbed me a couple sets then gave me her card and told me if I needed anything else to text the number on it. Her name is Dian! Only name I could remember thanks to the tangible evidence, haha!
I made it back to the room, ate the delicious Caesar salad with chicken, charcuterie board, and chocolate pot de creme, turned on National Treasure 2 on hotel cable, snuggled under the covers, and passed out before Nic Cage could say a single line.
The next morning I debated extending my stay another night to explore the neighborhood/city some more and take a dip or two in the pool, but responsibilities called as did the final seven hours of driving back home.
I’ve typed plenty at this point but can’t say enough good things about this stay and honestly already planning/can’t wait for my (longer) trip back!...
Read moreHorrible experience. Arrived 04.02.2024 @ 5:04 pm. As we were getting out the car, Corey met us and greeted us, and asked did we need help with our bags, walked us into the hotel. Checked in, went to room and the toilet was not working called front desk Maintenace came up and 'fixed' the toilet. Later that evening we went out to grab food, when we made it back in and wanted to take showers to wind down for the night we notice hair in the shower, and on the towels in the restroom. We took pictures to show the front desk staff, because it was late we decided to address the concerns the next morning (we did not use any of the towels in the restroom) the next morning we go to the front desk, with pictures of the hair and to also ask them about the "train car room" (which we thought this is the room we booked) we spoke w/Catlyn. Catlyn looked in the system and said that she had a train car room, and she will block it off and hold it for us, and she would call us as soon as it was ready (we never received a call) When we made it back to the hotel for the day housekeeping came and made the beds, but still left the hair in the shower, and on the towels. We called back to front desk, and housekeeping Supervisor Jonae came up. Apologized, and called housekeeping staff to come and reclean the room. Jonae was amazing, super concern, very friendly, and went above to make sure the job was done correctly. Well, the toilet was not "fixed" it was temporarily fixed. We had to call Maintenace again. This time a young guy came up "fixed" it and said the last Maintenace person forgot to turn it back on. Later that evening Chris (Housekeeping Supervisor) stopped by the room, to check on us again, and to apologize for the inconvenience. Chris took us on a tour to see the train car room (that we were promised but never happened) Well guess what we had toilet issues again, this time Jeremy came up and said that he apologizes that he see what the problem is, and he will be right back to get a tool and get the problem solved, he was leaving for the night and if anything else happen front desk will call him, and he can walk them through how to fix the problem. The next morning, we decide we will do an early check out, we asked if we can speak with the General Manager Jessica. A guy sitting at the desk, walked into a room that state "private on the door." came back and said how can I help you. I asked who you are, and what is your name, he paused and said John. When I expressed my concerns to John, he said weel Maintenace said there was no issues with your toilet. (At that point I shared with John some of the personal things that Jermery shared with us, because we had no reason to lie about the toilet acting up. (When other hotel guest was having toilet issues) I am the front desk manager. Jessica (General Manager) is in a meeting. I said OK, we can wait for her. I expressed my concerns with her, we were promised a train car room, we were expecting a call back from Caitlyn, John should have introduced himself to us, and how well the Bellman Corey, and housekeeping staff Jonae, and Chris treated us. I would like to give a huge shout out the Corey, Joane, and Chris. Jessica did comp our stay. This was a...
Read moreOur 3 day short romantic trip began with a stay at the Hotel Chalet with a booking in a train car room. This hotel was SO beautiful in a million different ways. From the front entrance opulence and grandeur, with art and plush furniture to the personalized customer service- it is tailored to make every single guest feel catered to.
The 5-star treatment started at the cobblestone entrance with Matt, who honestly is THE kindest, most-authentic, and wonderful person they could have working! He made us feel like valued guests from the moment we walked in the door. The front desk agent was also polite and lovely, going thru all of our amenities and checking us in quickly. They both answered all questions and made sure we had everything we needed each time they saw us.
The room? Amazing with such an old-world charm that if we could, we'd live in an extravagant train car forever!!
We ate at Elsie's Daughter, the hotel restaurant at Matt's suggestion, and it has become the most romantic meal that we've EVER had. Chris was our waiter and we had such a Wonderful experience sharing elegant appetizers, food, and he hit every drink suggestion out of the park! (I've decided I would like deconstructed cheesecake served at our wedding for guests since it was so fresh and delicious)
There was a spacious lounge/seating oasis able to be entered into by both the pool side entrance and the restaurant outdoor seating area that even had a performer playing/singing for the guests! We really felt it was like movie magic meeting our wildest expectations that evening.
Later the next morning, at the coffee bar in the lobby, there was a lovely young hostess that was kind enough to make us customized drinks. We were able to take in the amazing view and have conversation, and laugh about how there couldn't have been a more wonderful place for us to have stayed. We wouldn't have made such beautiful memories anywhere else.
The employees brought the elegance and loveliness to this stay, and we hope they know how much they were appreciated for all their work. From Matt who was funny, helpful, and knowledgeable, to the daytime/night time Front desk personnel, to Chris and the bar/kitchen staff, the Barista that made the best drinks in all of Chattanooga, the staff that kept the rooms so beautiful and welcoming, and the entertainer Maria Jordania who sang so beautifully we were swept away- the Hotel Chalet will be 100⭐️stars forever to Eric and Laura because of you!
Hope to see you all again and we truly truly wish you...
