I am very sad about writing this review. Wanderlinger is where my fiancé and I met 3 years ago, and I do not approve of how this established is being managed and run present day. Wanderlinger holds a special place in my heart, and to feel the way I did tonight is unacceptable. My fiancé and his friends enjoyed the atmosphere for several hours. I came to join but when met at the bar, I waited for my fiancé to get a beer (naturally) and suspected that I would be next. The bartender then went to an older man to my left who ordered 3 beers. After I waited patiently for those beers to be poured and served, when the bartender looked at me, I asked if I could have a Wanderlinger Lager. He informed me that the bar was closing. I said back to him - "but you just served my fiancé and that man 4 drinks." He then repeated that it was closing time. I asked, "Would it be different if I wasn't a woman?" And he maintained his answer that it was closing time. There was 1 minute difference of when he served that man 3 drinks. It was 2:39 when he poured those beers, and then when he got to me, it was 2:40. I believe if it was a man that asked him, he would have obliged; said "sure man, here's your beer." just like he did for my fiancé just moments before. Again, this saddens my heart, because I met the love of my life there just a few years ago. And I am beyond disappointed how the establishment has turned out since then. I do not recommend going to Wanderlinger for one of their parties. Just go for a couple drinks and leave -- you'll save yourself a headache and poor...
Read moreI am writing this review as a former resident of Chattanooga, and an individual who has been to all the brew pubs in the downtown Chattanooga area. Where one brewery existed 8 years ago on the Southside, eight breweries now exist between MLK and Main Street (not sure that Asheville can beat that!) Seven in a direct walking path of 1.2 miles.
Now the other breweries have very good beer, but Wanderlinger has been working on their beer and making improvements since they opened. Their 100 day IPA is a very good choice and their Joose Caboose is an excellent hazy New England Style IPA. But for the less hoppy minded, the lager is terrific, and lagers do seem a bit hard to find at some of the other brew pubs. I have tasted the sours, but I am not experienced in that particular style.
Now while many were trying to just survive in 2020, Wanderlinger added a small kitchen and is now offering sandwiches, soups, and salads. I loved the reuben, and $5 will get you a grilled cheese with chips. This is also the only brew pub with live music, and they currently have live music 5 or 6 nights every week.
The brothers who own the establishment are both very friendly and helpful as are the rest of the staff. I think this will be a worthwhile stop for...
Read moreHad a fantastic event at Wanderlinger in their Art Gallery space. The catering was arguably the best part! Food by their chef was incredible and our guests all raved about it. She helped me time everything perfectly throughout our event. The space was great, we had about 14 people and were in and out of the private room. There was trivia on Wednesday night going simultaneously which didn't at all bother our group but I guess could be something to ask about if you need a quiet surrounding atmosphere. Patti was super helpful booking and planning our event on a short notice. Staff was super friendly and helpful! Would definitely go there again in future. They had an easy ramp/side door that made loading and unloading my work event equipment easy! Only reason I didn't give service 5 out of 5 was we did not have someone servicing our group in the room. Everyone had to go out to the bar and wait in line for drinks with everyone else, which wasn't what I expected for the private event/catering, but it wasn't bad! Overall, highly recommend them for catering/events in their Art...
