Upon arriving to Chattanooga I've been searching for a restaurant to satisfy my craving for a breakfast that could satisfy someone who views breakfast as the best meal of the day. Ive always distrusted people that view it as the least important meal of the day. Its a meal that deserves a tremendous amount of respect and admiration. Luckily Chattanooga is chalk full of very respectable breakfast/brunch locations that have filled my stomach with more than enough quality cuisines in the form of omelettes and French toast, however I was missing the kind of quality I have only received at bluegrass grill. I was blown away at their ability to check all the boxes of the holy trinity of breakfast which would be taste, quality, and price. The breakfast legitimately tastes like how I expect breakfast to taste in my dreams. The eggs are cooked perfectly and have no strange taste or texture. The bacon is exactly as I like it, meaty and crispy, the home fries are where they really exceeded expectations though. They had that crisp on the outside and softness on the inside that you only really find in the best breakfast spots in new England/nyc. The fruit was so fresh and tasty I couldn't believe it and they actually provide every dish with the same great assortment of fruit that I actually desire and not just some mix of three exotic fruits that I have no need for. They also have a very diverse menu that will fit the needs of the pickiest eater. Keep up...
Read moreIf you aren't paying attention, you might miss this tiny place. If you do happen to miss it, circle the block and go back. Trust me. The service was just amazing. Water arrived at the table just as I sat down. This old fashioned courtesy is wonderful, particularly when the weather is warm. Neither my water glass or my coffee cup were ever empty. The coffee was excellent. I ordered blintzes. I've never had this dish, so I was not sure what to expect. I received four lovely bundles stuffed with ricotta cheese smothered in whipped cream, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Not sure this was a very healthy breakfast, but it was delicious. On the opposite side side of the table, my dining companion had glorious grits. Four cheese grits, tomatoes, bell peppers, green onions, spinach, and crumbled bacon. A fruit cup accompanied the grits. There are foods that if you ever get them and they are not well prepared, you find it difficult to ever eat again For me, its grits and mac and cheese. But the grits looked so good I decided to try a bite. This resulted in my having half a bowl of grits and my companion shared my blintzes. I would order this dish. The grits were creamy and smooth. The veggies well incorporated. The bacon was plentiful and crispy. I will go back. I noticed several dishes I want to try. Hint: read the back...
Read moreCame in today for brunch and just had to share the unfortunate negative experience with the food. I will say though, the service was good; from the hostess to our waitress very friendly and attentive. It’s just the food man - particularly the home fries for two of our orders were room temp and extremely over salted. I like salt on my food but we couldn’t get past the first bite. We also had two separate orders of bacon one of which was jalapeno bacon that was really dusted in BBQ style rub and tasted nothing like jalapenos but that didnt really bother us. What was unfortunate about the bacon was that it too was room temp and soggy. Like no crisp whatsoever and seemed like it might have been cooked before opening and sat too long without sufficient heat. Separately, my wife ordered “adult grilled cheese” special which she said was bland, barely toasted bread and more soggy bacon. For me i ordered the breakfast burrito which was also bland. It was supposed to have an egg inside of it but I could barely find any or perhaps the bean to egg ratio was 100:1 and thats why? Not sure. The cold brew was actually great and my kids enjoyed the pancakes so not a total loss. I understand this is a very popular place so perhaps it was an off day. Not sure we’ll be back any time...
