I stumbled across a sign in front of the double doors where you go into the old train station to the Frothy Monkey. I went there & just got lost in the history of music (both local Chattanooga music like Bessie "Freaking" Smith & the Allman Brothers, which I never knew til I went.) You can take either the elevator or two short flights of stairs. Then pay $15 admission fee. Off to the left, you have the local legendary musicians & museum souvenirs. I got a t-shirt, a patch, & a sticker. Than on the right, you have the education of development of the music technology like how the microphone developed, how both the electric guitar & amps developed. If nothing else check that out. It was all super fun!!! Especially the panel where you can hear the difference between all the amps. My favorite was the Sound City, Vox, & Marshall amps, just to name a few but go to hear which one you love best. Next is a short, narrow hallway with some 🎸s (one demolished 🎸 by a local musician) & historic clubs in New York where some music icons went on the walls. 2nd to last room with a beautiful, cozy couch. Next to the door is some gorgeous, vintage amps on one side and on the other is a black & white framed photo of the Beatles, pre-Ringo. What??? I talked Charlie Moss's ear off for few hours. I did not even realize til afterwards. It was just so much fun to have someone else to talk with about music history. Go have your own adventure there & have a blast!!! By the way, they will be opening the vault in the very back up soon with some very special, exquisite guitars. They are both pieces of art & pieces of history. A real treat for those of us who love...

I'd give it a half star but Doug Stone was great, and it's not an option. I'll preface this by letting you know I spent 15 years in the restaurant industry and 9 as a general manager so I know all too well the importance of a positive online presence. So it's with careful consideration I weigh in. My fiance and I made the trip down from Knoxville to take in the show and we arrived after Doug took the stage. The only seats left at the sold out show were in the very back up against the merch table. We grabbed 2 stools and sat isolated from the crowd. We weren't even settled in when Jimmy, a crotchety old man claiming to be the owner of the venue threatened to remove us for quietly talking in between songs. He made the unfortunate decision to pull up a stool next to and address my fiance. When I cut in and politely asked what the issue was he chose to make a scene. Jimmy loudly and dramatically demanded I follow him to the front where the bouncer(nice guy) was and berated me with a profanity laced ultimatum. Mama didn't raise no fool, so I thanked him for the hospitality and returned to my stool. I watched Jimmy harass several other paying guests before he disappeared into obscurity. Do the band, fans, and venue a favor and stay there, Jim. You're at best a distraction and detraction. It was my first time at this venue. Probably wouldn't go back due to the lay out, and coupled with the belligerent management.. I'd be better off in a pine box on a slow train bound...

Went to see Confederate Railroad and was disappointed, not the band just the location. This is a millennial bar with only craft beer on tap and a slim selection of domestics in cans. Over priced drinks and attitudes. We could not hear the bands because people around talked, laughed, cut up and played on their phones. Several even stated that they dont even like country music and dont listen to it but they are here to party. We couldn't hear any of Paul Chapman, so I dont have a clue if he is any good. I knew a lot of the Confederate Railroad songs but couldn't make them out due to the young lady with a loud voice that screached like nails on a chalk board and the drunk guy with a man bun falling all over everybody and trying to start fights. Security was there but would just walk by him. I have been in rough bars before and they were classier, people wise, than this. If this is their marketing strategies than if you are over 25 then it's not a place for for you. We will not return. We can find other venues to actually hear the bands, which is why went in the...

Such an awesome experience. Would out on the very top of your list of things to do in Chattanooga! Reviews were mixed so we weren’t really sure what to expect but the museum exceeded our expectations and then some! Beautiful museum-clean, well organized, informative with a lot of interactive exhibits. My 14 year old who’s very into guitars absolutely loved it. He was so intrigued throughout. Said of things we did in Chattanooga (Ruby Falls, Incline Railway, and Rock City) this was by far his favorite. While I’m not as in to music as he is, I also found it interesting and enjoyed the historical knowledge there and learning more about Chattanooga’s history too. Clean, modern space with polite, knowledgeable staff. Lovely bathroom facilities. And can’t beat it for $15! We spent about 3 hours enjoying the museum. I’d recommend allowing at least 2 but honestly, even if you’ve just got an hour it’s worth the visit! Oh, and some other reviews mentioned the vault wasn’t open- it’s open now and it’s super cool!

Songbirds is my Disney World! Okay, maybe not, but it's pretty close. We had a fantastic time. The self-guided tour had a lot of guitars to see and is well-organized. Cases of instruments in every color or style: Strats, Teles, Les Paul's, SGs, Thunderbirds, Ricks, Penguins, the list goes on and on. The All-access tour was even more impressive. In the next room, you get to see the special collection which changes periodically. The Vault? Full of prototypes, specials, customs, and oddities behind glass. Our tour guide allowed us to hold a special few, and had stories about many, many more. I can't wait to go back.

Enjoyed the main exhibit floor. Arrived between tours so did not get to visit the "vault". Started with the first production electric guitars, such as the Fender Broadcaster, from the 50's and separated in rows from the 60's and 70's. 99% electric guitars. Only a few acoustic guitars, but the ones they had were very nice higher end Martin D41's, some pre-War D18 & D45's, Gibson Hummingbirds. Has an area where you can play a couple guitars with headphones. Staff was super polite and excite to show us their museum. Has a gift shop with t-shirts, picks, etc.
