Holiday Inn is usually our go to accommodation wherever we travel. We have never had an issue with Holiday Inn previously as they are always pretty immaculate and clean and feel like a home away from home. However, this particular holiday Inn was very deceiving from the beginning. My three children were so excited and thrilled for a weekend of fun and swimming, yet upon our arrival, we find there is no pool as advertised with pictures, in fact, the entire building was under renovation as well. Come to find out the pool hasn’t been in this building for over six years. Probably something that should be updated on Google maps when searching for hotels in the area. To make matters worse, the mattresses were like mounds. One would have to sleep in the very center of the bed to stay on top of it. My wife and I felt as if we were falling out of bed all night and we might as well have been sleeping on a sack of rocks. Come to think of it, a sack of rocks would’ve been way more comfortable than our experience. My wife usually is out cold when she falls asleep. I’ve never seen her toss and turn so many times in a single night that’s right I saw her because I was wide awake all night myself tossing and turning, trying to find a comfortable position on this horrible mattress that was trying to throw me on the floor, the comforter was stiff and course. I wouldn’t wish those bedsheets on my worst enemy. The refrigerator was howling all night. To give you an idea I have earplugs I sleep with when traveling that are used for shooting ranges, and I could still hear this refrigerator, howling, the much needed air conditioner was squeaking and rattling all night as well. I thought of turning it off, but the room was like a sauna without it. I must say, though there was this one moment that I truly did enjoy in our stay, and that was when we were walking out the door leaving with our stuff never to return to this location again. I am now home. I am now safe. And although I love Holiday Inn I will never stay at this one and visiting Columbus again. I mean who takes out a swimming pool from a large hotel like this or people just wanna come and relax. They should sell this building to Motel six or eight. That is the standard they run this hotel at. My children are devastated from trauma and now I have to pay for counseling. That’s how bad...
Read moreI really had a bad experience at this hotel. The one nice thing I would say is the front desk staff were all nice and helpful when around. I ended up getting two rooms. One of them the bed was absolutely disgusting sheets were covered in hair, the top sheet beneath the comforter was also covered in hair. I could tell the cleaning crew just pulled back the covers to make the bed. I went down at about 10:40 at night to ask for two sheets to make the best of the situation. Too bad there was a line about 20 people waiting at the front desk. Oh and no one to be seen working at the front desk either. So I couldn't even ask for another room or sheets. Not a convenient breakfast arrangement, It looked like you have to order in advance.
The other super annoying thing about my first room was that the outside speaker for the front entrance area was playing music all night long. It was right outside my room and very audible. I can't imagine why they don't turn it off or the ones by the elevators, which I could hear both.
The other thing I would caution would be the safety of you and your family when staying here. I encountered many nice folks, but I lost the lottery and ended up getting a room with a shared door. Whoever was staying next to me was out of their mind either on drugs or drunk. Making weird sounds all night until 3:30AM and actually aggressively BANGED on the shared door between us. Mind you this is while I was trying to sleep, so my room was completely quiet. I thought the man was trying to break in. He did it several times and If he'd done it one more time I think I would have just called the police. I probably should have the first time.
Sadly the options don't look much better in the area. Wish I had a recommendation for a better place to take...
Read moreHat to write a bad review but this a really honest review of what happened during our 2 day stay.Pretty disappointed as we chose this hotel based on review stars and reasonable price but wished I had paid a little more and stayed elsewhere and yes I am a rewards member.
Here goes the bad :
Second day came back to our room at 2 pm and maid service had not come had to call front desk, the proceeded to clean room aka make bed did bathroom and laves no kleenex wife had to ask her for some.
Door lock on bathroom door is installed incorrectly you have to lift up handle to get out whoever put it in should know better ,wife thought she was locked in.
Also when bathroom was designed who puts the towel rack storage shelf in the area of the actual shower I mean its actually in the back part of the shower tub stall wall
Internet service is awful slow and disconnects.
our room (number with held) in the corner had a funky smell by the window
