2 months ago my husband and I decided to purchase lazy boy furniture for our new home. From the very beginning it’s been a bad experience. The sales staff were very pushy and rush you to make a sale (in all 3 Pittsburgh area stores we visited, this happened to us). They tell you what you want to hear and will say anything to seal the deal. They didn’t tell us there was an up-charge on customization- in fact they told us customization didn’t change the price. They also ran our credit card numbers without final approval of the much higher price than what was originally discussed. ( we gave them our credit card numbers to “check for promotions” associated with our lazy boy credit card- and she came back with a receipt! ) We were very upset this happened, but still decided to go with the furniture, even after the poor customer service experience and significantly higher price. When it was finally time for us to get our furniture delivered, (almost 2 months and $3500 later), they never called us like they said they would with a delivery window. We waited around all day. No apology. Once it was delivered we realized it was the totally wrong color from what we chose! It was much darker- night and day! It was totally obvious it was wrong. Keep in mind we paid a lot for customization- and didn’t get what we picked out! We called the store but got nowhere so I called corporate to report it, and even sent photos of all the proof we had- including pictures of the sample from the day we purchased to what we received. We figured out that they must of entered the wrong fabric numbers during the purchase, and we trusted that all we had to do was give them the swatch. We had some representatives and store employees tell us it’s our fault that we should of caught that the numbers were incorrect- isn’t that why you work with a sales person to ensure accuracy of your order? Another told us that there’s no option to fix this because we signed a contract for customization and only get a 3 day window after initial purchase to change our mind- well the contract doesn’t mean anything if we didn’t receive the correct items! We don’t agree with what was delivered to us! It’s not what we ordered! I spent my entire Saturday explaining this situation to 6 different people without any kind of resolution. Everyone just said they are looking into it and will get back to me- looking into it doesn’t fix the problem! The store denied it, and did not believe me, argued with me and said everything they could to place blame on us- I caught them in so many lies too. We still don’t have the answers we are hoping for. They said they will come get our furniture if we really don’t want it, and will call us sometime next week with next steps- but we don’t know for sure if this is really going to happen because we have lost faith in anything they say to us at this point... but if they do come for the furniture we will still be without living room furniture and we need to start all over! - either way they aren’t willing to make this right and have offered us nothing for their huge mistake! We went into another Lazy boy store tonight (Monroeville) to look at fabric swatches in person- just to compare. We spoke to a lady, Patty, about our situation and she was no help. Very rude to us and wanted no part of the situation. Just a total let down! Not ok for how expensive their furniture is! But that’s ok, we will spend our money elsewhere since they are refusing to take accountability for their error, or make this right. And they lost a sale because of it. Beware! Go...
Read moreWe always thought an upscale store like La-Z-Boy Cranberry would assure superior service. So, we had the interior designer, Lexy, come out to give us some ideas for our living room. We realized that La-Z-Boy isn't inexpensive, but we were blown away to see that she was recommending furniture that was way out of the question for our budget. We still spent nearly twice the amount we had in mind, but no matter, it was quality furniture, so we placed our order with the salesman, Mark. We then waited seven weeks for it to be delivered, and when it finally arrived, the one recliner in the sofa was a little hard to recline, but the delivery guy said it just needed to be "broken in." He was right about the broken part because it immediately got stuck in the reclining position. Not only that, but the four chairs we ordered for our new cafe table were too high (they were bar height instead of counter height) and therefore unusable. So, we contacted Lexy, and she said that she would take care of the problem, but we'd have to contact the service department about the broken recliner, and that we should also contact Mark. We contacted the service department and were scheduled for a next-day visit--THEY DIDN'T SHOW. We called and left a message to have Mark call us--HE NEVER DID. Lexy was going to take care of the chairs--SHE HAS YET TO CONTACT US with any information. We called the service departments again, and after some negotiation, managed to get them to schedule us. I guess we'll continue to wait for Lexy and Mark to reach out. In the meantime, be careful of La-Z-Boy Cranberry. We were so wrong in assumiing that a premium price would equal premiium service. The entire La-Z-Boy Cranberry experience has completely drained us of our excitement over new furniture. Our original order was placed on March 23rd and we still (June 12th) don't have our chairs or even an approximate delivery date. So, we have four bar-height chairs that we can't use and have yet to hear from...
Read moreMy husband and I went to the La-z-boy location in Cranberry Twp. PA this Sunday to look for a new sofa or sectional set for our living room. We wanted a leather sofa and had a few restrictions due to the size and shape of our living room. We were greeted by Megan and told her exactly what we were looking for. Instead of saying, “Ok, let’s look around for a style you like”, her first comment was “Our top of the line leather sofas run around $7000”. Mind you, while my husband and I are a young couple (young 30s), we both have great jobs and a fairly decent income. I didn’t appreciate the comment and felt as though she was trying to see if we would walk away due to the price she quoted. I decided to continue to look around because I know La-Z-Boy offers quality furniture. We eventually found a sofa we liked and picked a leather that we liked and ordered the sofa set. During the ordering process we were not asked about financing through the store (which I later found out La-Z-Boy was offering 0% financing) and was just asked how we wanted to pay. This I feel was another annoyance with this sales rep who had already pegged us as a couple who couldn’t afford their furniture and apparently a couple who doesn’t have the credit score to qualify for store financing. We just cut them a check for the full price of the sofa set and went on our way. And by the way, the sofa set we ordered was not even close to $7000. Our sofas should be delivered in 6 weeks or so. I will update this review at that time if I run into any issues with the actual merchandise...
