Stayed here after a Ranger game because I wanted to be close to downtown Dallas. Parking was not free. I had to pay twenty-one dollars for the night. When I came in the front attendant was very nice and friendly. The incidental fee was seventy-seven dollars, which is fully refundable so long as you do not destroy your room. I dropped my stuff off and I noticed that it had a strong pungent smell of old inside of my room. Something I can only describe as the smell of "Goodwill". Not something I imagined for the price point of this hotel. I also could not find any lights on the ceiling. The only light source came from two small bedside lamps and one giant floor lamp which did not produce very much light. I used the restroom around 9pm and noticed that It would not flush. Water started overflowing so I made a call to the front desk who was very apologetic and sent someone up immediately to fix it.I left that night so did not have to interact with anyone, but when I came back it was fixed. I decided to check out the hotel pool on the first floor. At the time of arrival there was an attendant at the door who informed us that the DJ and bar outside would be ending soon but that the pool would remain open. That worker deserves a raise! She was absolutely welcoming and helpful with the amount of questions I had about the pool. The pool was very nice, and sadly I did not get to enjoy the DJ since I had arrived near the end of the set. I really did enjoy the location, because it was close enough to downtown that the Uber rides were not outrageous nor the time. That night I did notice that my room did not get very cold even though I did place the AC down to the lowest setting.I did not eat at the restaurant, but it seemed nice. The overall vibe of the hotel was cool. There is interesting artwork to look at everywhere, and mostly everything has an artist name beside it, and a little bit of history over the piece. The gym was more than adequate. Over all It was a decent hotel with a good location and friendly staff but I just don't agree with paying so much money (300 dollars a night) for such a subpar hotel with a almost unbearable room smell.
EDIT: 08/02/2024 As of today a month after we have stayed, I filed a complaint with Hilton about the hotel. They told me to contact their guest services about their experience and I did. Sent photos, and also put in a complaint on the Hilton website. As of today nothing has happened. No sorry for the stay, sorry that happened. Buyers beware. I’ll be staying clear of this hotel...
Read moreFirst, the positives - the hotel has a whimsical, quirky decor that draws you in and leaves you wanting to explore every corner! For a downtown hotel, the parking is a luxury!! They have their own private parking right outside their entrance. The staff that greeted me upon arrival and checked me in were amazing, kind, and professional. The room was clean, beautiful, and spacious!! Everything about my experience so far left me wanting more - I didn't understand why my colleague said he had a bad experience here and wouldn't be coming back. So far, I'm loving it!! The food at the on site restaurant was good and the staff there were very attentive and kind. So what went wrong?...
Here's the negative - Jorge working the night shift at the front desk. I informed him my room had no toilet paper and requested some - oddly enough the bathroom didn't have the customary unopened toilet paper, which is typical in most hotels upon check in. He informed me that's not his job but he'll pass on the message... rude, but okay as long as I get the toilet paper. An hour later housekeeping knocks on the door to deliver fresh towels for the room. When I asked her about the toilet paper she appeared genuinely surprised at the request and tried to explain only the manager has access to where the toilet paper is stored and he won't be there until the morning. She then suggested that my guest and I just use the Kleenex!! I explained that was not a viable solution and requested she try to see if there happen to be any vacant rooms and borrow their toilet paper to get us through to the morning. She agreed. My guest called down to the front desk to speak to Jorge who "didn't know what she wanted him to tell her". I'm sorry, but absolutely no toilet paper in a hotel is unacceptable!! I went downstairs to talk to Jorge in person, and his entire demeanor was "this is a you problem"... he couldn't be bothered we had been waiting an hour and suggested we just use the public restrooms downstairs until the morning. He again said "I don't know what you want me to tell you" and informed me it's not his job. I had to remind him his job is literally customer service and told him to maybe Doordash some toilet paper as I walked away frustrated with his uncaring, cavalier attitude. Thankfully the sweet housekeeper did find a vacant room and snagged that toilet paper for us!!
I truly hope Jorge is an isolated "experience" but it was enough to ruin the satisfaction of our...
Read moreMy family and I were in town for my son's Jiu-jitsu competition this past weekend. We booked the hotel online through our credit card rewards program. I had never heard of this hotel but the price was good, the reviews were good and it was close to where we needed to go. I didn't know what I expected. We normally stay in Marriott or Hilton hotels, so I was nervous not really knowing this area of town or this type of hotel. We got there late Friday evening and I don't know what I was expecting....but definitely not what we got. And I mean that in a great way! It is very different from the cookie cutter hotels we normally stay in. Some of the grassy areas surrounding the hotel (a few blocks away) had a few tents set up of homeless people but it's downtown Dallas, so that's to be expected. And I am a suspicious person by nature but I never once felt unsafe walking with my kids from our car to the hotel...even at night. Walking in the lobby was like walking into another world. The art is amazing. And it's everywhere...even the way they stacked the books on the bookshelves in the lobby. The whole lobby/elevator area is gorgeous. The staff at the front desk quickly got us checked in even though there were quite a few people in line or just lounging in the lobby. Our room did not disappoint either. Gorgeous art and CLEAN. Our room on the 8th floor overlooked freeway but the traffic was not loud. The next day after the competition we took the kids to the pool. The pool feels like you are at a resort. The drinks from the bar were great. Again...amazing art everywhere. There was a DJ playing music. It was a great time, for the adults and the kids. The last day we ate breakfast in the Hamilton restaurant in the hotel and the food was fantastic, as was the service. There is also a taco restaurant in the parking lot of the hotel that smelled amazing, we just didn't have time to eat there. But when we go back...we definitely will try it. I would say that this hotel is catered more towards adults. It would be a perfect place for a girl's weekend or couples trip, but it was also a great experience for my two kids. Ages 8 and 5. We spent our last morning before check out going to each floor looking at all the art. If you have time...I definitely recommend doing that. Overall...we had a great experience from our room, the staff, and the food. We will...
