The Black Academy Of Arts and Letters 4TH RiverFront Jazz Festival put on this exciting and successful event under the direction of Mr.Shun King! The event kicked off Thursday, with AT&T DISCOVERY DISTRICTKICKOFF. Queen Indy B, Host, 94.5 FM Radio Personality. You know it was on and popping at The AT&T Plaza; with Dallas on Yarborough & Peoples amoung a host of other star talents. FRIDAY! What A Lineup of talent. Come on Y'all! ERYKAH BADU ? WHAT ! Put on a concert! You already know she is an ARTIST! She put on a performance that eclipced her on repitation. Give her the Keys to The City, Dallas' on Queen Of Soul! Now, please forgive me if I don't mention everything that went on its just too much information and activities to cover. Saturday! I can't begin to explain the host of activities, Vendors, and star personalities from Gina Rogers,Steve Pickett, Keith Solis,Rob Lloyd, and Reuben Lael, just to name a few. There were mulitiple concerts on going simultaneously on different Stages, Jazz, Soul, Blues, and Funk. A great mixture of star entertainment. I waited for Con Funk Shun at 8:30pm, and the wait was well worth it. They had everybody up on the feet partying like no tomorrow. Which lead me to Sunday. Today is Sunday, of course I'm going back for artist like Will Downing, Peabo Bryson, and Jeffrey Osborne. Y'all better come on you can still get tickets. I'm taking my lovely wife on her 55th Birthday! We are...

I'd give this place a much higher rating, actually would give it 5 stars, if the staff manager or supervisor wouldn't run as tight a ship as he does. The facilities are beautiful, clean, and can make for a great experience. However, the staff manager doesn't understand giving more leeway or accommodating for events...generosity is missing, and maybe some kindness? The event we participated in ended up needing more tables than were originally reserved (by only one or two tables), and mostly because we were told we'd get 8 foot tables, and were given 6 foot tables. He was also very adamant that we were only allowed two chairs at each table, when we had more vendors behind those tables. But the saddest part was that hot dogs were brought to feed families, and they needed to be re-heated, but he refused to give even any microwave access. 😒 In short, without the management understanding the value of being accommodating, the facility won't be able to maximize the enjoyment of the guests, and word of mouth is so important! If they can change their perspective on...

On October 9th we attended the stage play Her lies his secrets. This was our anniversary weekend, which should have been a wonderful experience which it wasn't, this was the worse experience ever. First of all we paid 40.00 extra per ticket for a VIP package that no one knew what that was or what it consists of. We paid 239.00 for the same as general admission, I even called several times before the event to see what all was included in the VIP package, but no one could give me an answer. And yhe play with horrible, 65% of the play you couldn't hear because the actors mikes were not working and some of the stars they advertised on the flyer were not there.A And whn I tried to leave comments on their Facebook page they erased my comments and blocked me from commenting...

Wonderful venue. Older but well maintained. We went to the Riverfront jazz festival for all three days. The first day was a little unorganized to enter but it was straightened up and everything went well. Make sure you get to the rest room early because the opportunity is limited. The cleaning staff was stationed in the rest room and refreshing after every third use. This will be a yearly attendance for us and we are looking forward to attending more events in this beautiful old treasure. P.S. it was very cold inside although the weather was at least 105 plus each day.

We attended a play here. Miss Dee’s Kitchen. Not the best play, but the venue is vintage and beautiful. The line waiting needs improvement, there’s no real formality. There are several events happening at one time and that can get a little confusing. You have to wait in line to get into the seating area but there are multiple streams of people coming in each entrance, you can end up being pushed further back. Overall I will definitely return, because culture experienced just being there was iconic!

This year The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL) 8th annual JazzFest was held at Fair Park in The Centennial building , Automobile Building and Women’s Museum due to the upcoming renovations to the Dallas Convention Center. There were a variety of food trucks and vendors to serve the many needs of the mass amour of people attending. Although it rained a bit, people still came to enjoy the festivities. The Promising Young artists were fantastic!
