This is a mixed review. I stayed a few weeks ago as a platinum Marriott member. Pros: clean facilities and friendly service. Cons: thin, thin walls and windows. I could hear my neighbor taking a dump. Sorry for the visual, but I could hear his movement sounds, sneezes, etc. Every time the AC kicked on, there were 3 loud mechanical knocks, BTW, not the only weird sounds. There was mechanical types of clicking from the window area. I could also hear the TV from other neighbors. I had to sleep with ear plugs in, which is not ideal obviously. Mind you, I was "upgraded" to this room. I could not figure out what the upgrade was other than the size of the room. If you're looking for a quiet space, this isn't it. I understand the city noises are to be expected given the location, but the biggest issue came from the noises within the hotel. If you're a light sleeper, keep in mind that a firehouse is next door. I heard sirens each night. Repeatedly. Our shades ran behind the TV and desk, which made it hard to close. There were apartments across the street and i could see people looking in.. I could see directly into their apartments and they could obviously see us.. Do not use the bathroom with the door open and the light on at night lol. It wasn't obvious at first bc of how the restroom was cornered in our room. I was told that there was a mountain view.. There was the slightest peak of a mountain if you pressed your face against the window and looked left. Make sure you ask if you book a mountain view. There was sort of a wet dog smell in the shower but it was probably just the pipes. Parking is 25 nightly, which was fine, except they wouldn't let me park my own car even though the lot is attached. Just another note for those with preferences. The breakfast was underwhelming but they really made an effort to provide a variety under the circumstances. The coffee is decent. The woman who was overseeing the breakfast setup was very friendly and was making sure everyone was happy. Pretty much stocked with the essentials in the downstairs shop. They provided ear plugs when I requested although I had to get dressed to go downstairs for them. They were good ear plugs. We were able to walk into LODO, so the location is decent for walking although not super close. If you don't mind walking 6-7 blocks to cool shops and restaurants then you're good. The attached restaurant was not impressive but the service was great and its an acceptable spot for...
Read moreEveryone at Springhill Suites was so nice and accommodating during the Denver Blizzard.
I had already checked out in the morning but a few hours later I found out that my flight was cancelled due to the weather. Seeing as how I would have to spend a few more days in Denver, I went back to the front desk and asked if I could extend my stay even though I had already checked out. Kat, behind the counter, was super nice and very accommodating and she even got it so that I could keep my original rate at the hotel.
Later that evening, I went to eat at the only open restaurant in the Denver downtown vicinity, which was across the courtyard from the hotel. I came to find that the restaurant was being staffed by the hotel staff! The staff included Kat from the front desk, a few of the valet guys that I knew, and even the hotel manager. I found out that the restaurant was very short staffed but the hotel wanted to keep it up and running so that way the guests were able to have something warm to eat during the blizzard. You could tell everyone serving at the restaurant were completely out of their element as they had never been in those positions before. The staff was still so friendly and nice to everyone despite the extra work they had to put in!
I overheard that the hotel staff were planning to spend the night in a conference room in order to open up rooms for guests as the hotel started filling up and was close to being completely booked. The manager said that they’d all spend the night in the conference room to not only free up space but to also make themselves available in case the next day’s staff could not come in. She also mentioned that together, the current hotel staff would try to find a way to make breakfast going in the morning so that the guests would still be able to receive amenities (free continental breakfast) the morning after the storm.
I was very impressed by their professionalism and the fact that they ALL worked together to go above and beyond in order to maintain guest experience. Super props to the staff of SpringHill Suites Denver Downtown. They’re one...
Read moreRoom and hotel itself is very nice & clean. Front desk personal are very friendly and helpful. Over all satisfied with the hotel. 2 stars because their cleaning crew is extremely inconsiderate. Check out is at 12pm and at 7:55AM they were knocking loud on our door. They woke us up and we had to tell them that we were still in there. At 9:55AM they knock again and so I opened the door and all the lady said was "sorry" with her hand up & then just walked away. It's obvious that they wanted us to get out of the room (again, check out is at 12PM) so we checked out shortly after so they would stop bothering us. My husband needed to take a work call and so we went down into the lobby so he could take his call from there. As soon as he got on the call, another cleaning lady started vacuuming RIGHT where we were. The vacuum is VERY loud and she had the entire lobby to vacuum but insisted on vacuuming over and over in the area we are in. At this point, my husband is suck on this call & we can not move. Instead of being courteous and vacuuming the other areas of the lobby first, she insisted on vacuuming around our chairs and literally right in front of us. I understand they have a job to do, as we all do. So I asked if she could give us a minute but the vacuum is so loud but she could not hear me. She was well aware he was on a call as she was looking right at him while she was vacuuming, almost like her intent was to be rude. The cleaning crew really ruined our stay which is unfortunate because the hotel and front desk staff...
