So after trying this place out and loving the food and leaving a review about the good food but poor service, I tried it here again a week later with 4 of us instead of just me.
I made a reservation 1 or 2 days IN ADVANCE to be seated upstairs and was told that was not a problem.
We all show up a few minutes early and I am told there was nothing available upstairs. This was maddening and disappointing. What's the point of reserving a table where I requested if they aren't even going to hold it for me??
The server didn't even come to the table we were forced to sit at for 10-15 minutes. In between ordering drinks, apps, and main course was 10-15 minutes for the server to come back.
The food was really good except for the mashed potatoes being ice cold. Everything else was warm enough.
After we all got done eating, we sat there with empty plates for 20+ minutes before they started taking plates away. Said we were ready for the check and the server came back 10+ minutes after that. I honestly don't get why the service is subpar here, both times within a week that I've been here. The beer and food were great, but the poor service leaves me no choice but to take some stars away.
First review:
I have been looking forward to trying this place as a way to tap into my German roots and German heritage. I came on Saturday during brunch time. First off, the food and beer are top-notch and highly recommended. Their service was good at first but then got worse...
I wanted to sample different kinds of sausages, so I ordered 3 different types. Only 2 came. I told the server the mistake, and the missing one was later brought out. I was told I wouldn't be charged, but they charged me for it anyway.
On top of that, my server completely disappeared after the mistake was remedied, and about 30 minutes went by before a different person from behind the bar came to check on me at my table. I asked for the check, and he didn't come back for 20 more minutes, where I then paid him.
All was fine and OK overall until my server disappeared. I also don't like being lied to about not being charged for something they messed up on, only to still be charged.
This is why I give 4/5 stars instead of a perfect 5. I will come back again to try other things, and if they can redeem themselves with great service the entire time, then I will change this review and...
Read moreOne thing I must admit, the foods good. I wouldn’t call it spectacular and I think the German chocolate cake tasted and looked more like a skillet brownie from a chiles but it wasn’t bad. I had the Munich Brat and my husband hand the Classic. We also split a flight of beers which were excellent. But, if you’re hoping for a nice dinner with some welcoming atmosphere, you’d best look somewhere else. At least on a Sunday. We were hoping we would get through out dinner fairly quick due to the fact that the place was already fairly empty. Once we got inside, we immediately noticed that is was so loud we could barely hear the hostess. We also took note of the bocce ball court being closed, which was fine as that’s not why we went. My husband got excited at the sight of dogs on the court and asked if dogs were allowed. The hostess informed us that only service animals were allowed but those dogs belonged to the owner. Whoever the owner was he was very clearly throwing his own little football party on the bocce all court, not a huge deal. What frustrated us most was the behavior of some of the folks with the owner, they were screaming and highly disruptive which only added to the too loud tvs, making it impossible to hear. Our waiter was quick to get us our drinks but after that he seemed to disappear. Every time we’re would look for him, he seemed to have found his way to the hostess stand so he could keep her company. It took us a ridiculous amount of time to get our food orders in, we then had to wait again for him to flirt with the hostess before we could request napkins, and another long gap before being able to request dessert and our check. We would be understanding if the delay was due to them being busy but this was simply not the case. The dog did come say hello though, which was a highlight. But if I wanted to spend $100 and 2 hours in a rowdy sports bar, I would have sought one out. I might have even got...
Read moreThis is a tale of two dishes! I got two items to go... one was really good, the other was really bad so it's unfortunate I couldn't give it a better grade. Let's start with the good. We got the Giant Pretzel. The name does it justice. It came in a pizza box if that helps paint a picture. Good color, good chew and the smell was amazing. We would have liked more consistency with the salt. Some parts were covered with it while others were completely dry. It came with 3 sauces. Honey mustard was fine but I'm not a mustard fan. The cheddar fondue was super loose and didn't taste like much. The obatzda was creamy and delicious, that was my winner. Next we got the Currywurst Frites which I was super excited about... that excitement faded away very quickly. I opened the box and almost chuckled. There were fries scattered around the box with a small sausage that was half cut up and half cut through only slightly as to make an accordion and a tiny cup of ketchup. Now, the ketchup was spiced nice with curry but the fries were soggy and pale with almost no salt and the sausage had very little color to it and was super bland. In all honesty it looked like cafeteria food you find at an elementary school. I hate to say that but it was. The atmosphere was cool and it looks like a cool hang out spot for groups. They have a big bar and a place to play bocci call(a classic from my childhood) I would love to come try some different dishes. Pretzel was good but that Currywurst was literally... the wurst!...
